Ok, this one isn't too easy, and also isn't too much fun, but here it goes.
i have been using 'bamboo7' to identify myself ont he internet for a number of years. Where did i get the name 'bamboo7' from? (yes, it is WDW related)

i'll drop a hint in a few days if no one knows.

i really don't think that anyone cares about this at all, but here is another hint anyway.

it is from a peice of disney merchandise that i got in the 80's. something that i would sit down in front of a TV to enjoy.

I wish somebody would start a thread about wdwmagic names and what they mean... I get confused sometimes. I dont care if its trivial or not. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!:brick:

I'd do it myself but I heard the devil went down to georgia. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm... baseball hat sarcasm.. I invented it.

ok, i am already sick of this post, but i am gonna drop another hint anyway. if no one gets its today, i'll give the answer tomorrow.

so we already know that the name:
wasn't gotten directly from a disney park
was found on a disney park-related peice of merchandise
it was aquired in the 80s
it required you to sit in front of a tv to enjoy

todays hint...
It came from an 8-bit NES game.

well I searched for NES Disney and found a game called: Disney Adventures in the Magic Kingdom but I couldnt find any info about bamboo stuff:veryconfu

I know this!! I have that Disney Adventures game! ( It still works too. :) ) Ok, it's been a very long time since I've played the game, so bear with me. I think "Bamboo 7" is the name of the main character (the guy you play the game as), if you don't fill in your own name at the beginning.

This has me thinking, maybe I should hook that game back up. I never could get through the Space Mountain part! :)

I can't believe I didn't make that connection; I've wasted many an hour with that game!

And, Herbie, you should try downloading the ROM (along with an NES emulator) and then use the "Save State" feature to get through the entire SM sequence (and then the entire GAME) with 1 life!! [insert evil laugh here]:drevil:

In fact, I might be able to e-mail you the rom if you can't find it. The Nintendo police have been cracking down on emulator sites pretty heavily as of late.

The object of the game is to go around the magic kingdom and collect a bunch of keys so that Mickey can open the park. You have to "ride" several of the park rides, and then talk to a bunch of people to convince them to give you the last key. It's for the first generation of the Nintendo, so the controls are very simple. Basically you can steer, jump, and shoot. Ok, now to really test my memory. The rides you have to go on are: Space Mountain, Autotopia (You have to race against Peg Leg Pete), Big Thunder Mountain, The Haunted Mansion (you get chased by ghosts and have to throw candles at them), and Pirates of the Carribean (you get chased by pirates, and have to rescue the women).

Ok, that's the best I can do. I'm sure our Bamboo7 can fill in any gaps or mistakes I may have left. :)

And to answer your question, fridgepoliceman, it was an NES game from the late 80's-early '90s where the objective was to walk around the Magic Kingdom and collect keys from different attractions.

There were different sequences for Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Autopia (now known as Tomorrowland Indy Speedway). There was also a sequence where you had to walk around the park talking to people.

The action sequences are honestly pretty crappy by today's standards, but there is some weird camp appeal of playing a game officially set inside WDW, and each sequence had a different objective, so there was a good bit of variety.

I'll keep that in mind when I'm pulling my hair out!! :hammer: :brick:

Stupid Space Mountain!! I'm glad I don't have to steer the real one!

True dat...That whole "Star F" thing was just plain evil!

Not to mention some of the stuff the POTC & HM levels threw at you. The other two were tricky, but not too tough.

I remember as a kid feeling sorry for the guy in the game--going on vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth and finding himself subjected to all sorts of life-and-death situations. The whole premise of the game was just plain weird.

  You're right, "Star F" is just plain evil!! And I hated the flying books in the Haunted Mansion!!

The premise is sort of weird. How exactly did Mickey Mouse lock the keys inside the park anyway? And how did those other people get in the park if it was locked? And with a dog no less!!

I also felt sorry for that guy. What kind of name is Bamboo7, a codename I hope? (No offense Bamboo7! :D )

But still, nostalgia (even from the 80's) is a wonderful thing!

EXCELLENT!!!!

Great Job

at the start of the game, mickey asks you to enter your name. if you don't enter anything, you are called 'Bamboo 7"

Good Job Herbie

yea, the only think i think you may have gotten wrong is that the seven keys are to start the parade, not open the park. i can't remember how they all got lost, but it is a great game. somehow, i wound up with 2 cartdridges of the game. its been a few months since i've played it. i used to head straight for big t m railroad when i started playing, and if it didn't give me track D as my goal, i'd reset it and try again. track d requires no stearing, the defaul for the car is to go right (or left from our perspective) and that would lead you right into station D. GREAT GAME. everyone should buy it from ebay. again, good job herbie

Wasn't it actually supposed to have been Goofy who spread all the keys around? That's a bit more believable, tho still a bit too convenient.
