A trip with just one child

Originally I had a trip planned on April to go to wdw for 5 nights with my girlfriend. Something came up and now she can’t go. My husband suggested me taking my oldest daughter (15) instead and turn it into a birthday trip for her. We would definitely have a BLAST. However my Mom guilt is creeping in, as I have 2 other girls, 5 and 10 that wouldn’t be going this trip. Has anyone ever done this? We do have a family trip planned for February 2020 where all of us would be going.

Your family seems lovely. I take it that is your children in the profile pic (husband too?)? The 5 and 10 year old I am guessing.

Look, put it this way. My sister is older than me. Her and my mom took a cruise to Bermuda when she was 21. Maybe being a boy it isn't the same having a "Mother/Son" trip as it is a daughter, but either way it was their girls' trip so they went. I wasn't jealous. Mind you, I wasn't 5 or 10 then either.

If you had, say, a 4 and a 2 year old I'd say no problem. But if you have a 5 and 10 year old it is pretty hard to lie to them about that. They'll find out. Not that you shouldn't do it, but don't lie to them. Tell them that someday each of them will get a trip like this when they turn 15 or 16. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, at 15 how much time is left? Some 15 year olds would rather hang out with their friends or boyfriend than their mom. If she is still into this, do it! 10 years from now she could have her own family. 3 years from now she's in college. You just don't get these opportunities.
