Trip Report A Trip Fit for a Princess-2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend Trip Report

For now we just relaxed, ate our ice cream, and waited until it was time to get our luggage.

Hidden Mickey in the rug!

I miss this :cry:

One last look at the beautiful lobby…

We made our way towards bell services to pick up our luggage

We sat and waited for our Un-magical express to pick us up, we spotted @Howe on the bus before us through the window!

And with that the tiki gods sent us on our way after a wonderful wonderful long weekend in Disney!!!!!!

We spotted @Howe again at the aiport and talked for a little while. It was nice to see a familiar face in the airport, made it seem like the trip wasn’t over just yet. We also had McD’s as our traditional leaving FL meal. Had a pretty uneventful flight on the way home and was already wishing to go back. It had been an awesome weekend!

Final Thoughts

The Polynesian-Would 100% stay here again, but it probably won’t ever happen. It is just toooo expensive to justify staying here for an entire trip especially with park time. I felt with this trip, it was well worth it since we wouldn’t be going to any of the parks and I would be resting with the races. I did get a pretty decent discount too. The room was great since we got a corner room in the building we wanted. The grounds were beautiful sans construction but that didn’t bother us at all. They actually started tearing up the walkway in front of the Fiji building the day we left! When I saw pictures online a few days after we got home I was glad we stayed when we did. Things are not going to be pretty around the Poly for the next year and I sure wouldn’t want to pay the hefty price to stay there then. I’m glad we took this chance when we had it. I’m all for change though so I’m excited to see what those Bungalows on the water will look like!

Princess Half Weekend-BEST WEEKEND EVER!!!! Seriously, made awesome new friends and got to hang out with some awesome people. Running both races for the Glass Slipper Challenge was an awesome experience!!!! The only downside is there was a lot of congestion on the course, especially after exiting the Magic Kingdom and right before entering. Slowed things up a lot! I honestly look at my medals before I leave my house all the time, the Princess Half medal is definitely the favorite in my collection! Thanks runDisney for an awesome weekend! I will most definitely be seeing you in the future!

Update on the pin situation: I contacted active.com and they gave me a specific email that handles the runDisney registration. I had to confirm that I indeed payed and purchased the pins and got confirmation emails so I forwarded that all on to them no problem and today they sent me an email saying they would mail them to me and apologized. I am very happy!

You haven’t heard the last of me yet! I’ll be back sometime after our trip in May with another report! We’re headed down to the World again for a whole entire week to celebrate our 1 year anniversary! I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since we’ve gotten married! How time flies! It’ll be the week before our actual anniversary but that’s okay! We get to see the end of Flower and Garden again and the first weekend of Star Wars Weekend! 47 days to go!

Thanks!!! Sometimes I took some drivebys while running, which it tough but other times stopped. Just gotta keep on running towards that finish!!!!

Congratulations on your runs! And thank you for sharing your experience, I totally have to get down there for one of these someday! I also love your sneaky GFV pics, we are staying there in August. I cannot freaking wait! But for now I'll keep counting down to the sister's wedding trip next month.

I did see that they announced those itineraries, they sound soooo incredible. I was hoping a Med cruise would work for us in 2015 but I think the scheduling is going to be a little off.

We might be looking at a Western Caribbean (assuming my husband likes the 4-nighter we have planned for this summer).

Great report, Jess!! I agree with you on the Poly. You know it's my favorite resort but it's just. SO. EXPENSIVE!! I think we paid $440 for the lagoon view room for 1 night in September! Imagine a full week at that price! My mom, Ashley and I would be paying over $1,000 a person for JUST the room for 7 nights. That's almost the same as our ENTIRE 5 night stay at Disneyland is going to cost us (hotel, flights, park tickets, food AND souvenirs!) I'd rather keep the extra money and stay at one of the other less expensive deluxes or even a moderate! But you picked a good time to stay there, especially since you were able to enjoy the resort as opposed to rushing off to the parks every day

Can't wait to read the anniversary report! And I started my girls cruise report! YAY!! I should be able to post the first day tonight!!

Loved your pictures, medals and commentary. It looks like you both had a great time. Thanks for sharing I got a bit choked up thinking about what it was like to be out there running through the castle with the trumpets playing.

What music did you run to on the dreadmill? I'm always wondering what other runners listen to to beat the boredom.

I see this race in my future....Say when my 3 year old is 6 or 7 and I can bling out on race stuff instead of paying for daycare.

Great report, Jess! I'm itching to get back to Disney. Hopefully my husband and I will be down there in October for our anniversary. Love me some Food and Wine festival! Also I think 2015 will be the year I run my first Disney race....Wine and Dine half perhaps?

. After a few of the prices I've seen floating around the disboards...im afraid I'm going to pay more to see Norway, Iceland, and England than we did for our own wedding LOL. We'll see when the lovely @Disneyfalcon gets a quote tomorrow!

It is insanely expensive! Especially with al the construction going on right now...I don't think they should be charging those prices honestly....exactly it was the perfect time to try the Poly because I don't think we ever will again go without park tickets LOL. And you are going to have an awesome time in Disneyland! I can't wait to read about it! was going to go next year but since Norway cruises came out.....Disneyland will have to wait lol.

We both had a great time!!!

I actually don't run to music on the treadmill..or outside for that matter, I'm weird and music doesn't really do much for me while running. I like to hear what's going on around me. I prop up my IPad and watch an episode of a show or two on Netflix depends how long my run is. But it still sucks regardless.

Breakfast and dinner Ohana.. dang girl you make staying at the Polynesian a dream come true! Loved all your yummy food pics, why do I read this after I work out? Man oh man! I am now trying to convince someone to run the princess half with me.. would love to do it. Loved your report. Can't wait to go back now.. you amped up my excitement!!!

We have a very short window where we can cruise in the summer (last 2 weeks in July) and all of the Med cruises are in August. :cry:

So sad! We'll get on a Med cruise someday, Darolyn (I hope).

I feel you on the pricing. We have our 2015 cruise booked thanks to @Disneyfalcon - a 7-nighter this time - and it was a little surprising to see the cost. I am used to those 4-night Dream cruises! But I'm excited to try a new itinerary.

Your itinerary sounds amazing...it will be worth it!

Figured we were staying there gotta go all out at Ohana!!! I mean it was right at our doorstep!

haha well turns out the 11 night was just too dang expensive...Mike and I came to our senses and realized if we want to do things to our house this summer too we need to go as cheap as we can. So we are booked on the 7 night Norwegian with Jess & Courtney!

So at least we're not traveling internationally alone! And leaves us a bit more spending money and adding the costs of flights instead of 10k for two of us on a 11 night....haha. It will be still be awesome! And congrats on your booking of a 7 night too!

One day I will get on the Fantasy..that ship looks gorgeous!

Great report! I almost want to take up running just to do the runDisney events! So glad you get to go back to celebrate your 1 year anniversary! We'll be celebrating our anniversary with a cruise this year, but we're going to be staying at BLT on May 10 instead of getting off the ship and heading straight home! If I remember right from your wedding trip report, we share the same anniversary, 19 years apart!
