This is kind of a work-in-progress...
I have done many threads on a Mickey Mouse ride of some kind in WDW's Magic Kingdom to help make up for the loss of Toontown Fair. They all have been done to varying degrees of quality, some of them as adjuncts to the Mickey meet-n-greet on Main Street. All are derivative of Mickey's Madhouse, a concept for a Mickey-themed dark ride which was to have been put in Dumbo's Circusland, an aborted concept for Disneyland, all themed to the old black-and-white cartoons with ragtime music playing throughout. But now I have another idea...
Completely replacing the Mickey meet-n-greet at the Town Square Theater at WDW's Magic Kingdom (don't worry, he's been relocated elsewhere, possibly to Fantasyland) is a brand-new dark ride in the style of Roger Rabbit or Mr. Toad. Since the ride now takes up the entirety of the meet-n-greet space, it no longer makes sense to have this ride be about going out on tour when Mickey is preparing for a show. Thus, the ride is now the show itself, and not just a magic show, but a whole vaudeville show. The twist is that you're not just sitting in a theater, you're going to be experiencing the show more up close and personal.
The queue wends through what looks like the lobby of an old-timey theater. You are going to see a vaudeville show performed by Mickey and the gang. However, it seems that Mickey's nemesis Pete was going to do Shakespeare, but he was dismissed for being too hammy for "Hamlet", and he is none too pleased about it. All the while, you hear preparations going on for a special show.
Meet Mickey and Pals
Mickey, Donald and Goofy all greet you and then Mickey sends you into the show by opening a fancy lace curtain. Donald and Goofy, meanwhile, are told to get moving to their places. Meanwhile, however, Pete is plotting his revenge.
Podunk Landing
After a moment of darkness, you find yourself on a pier with Steamboat Willie parked nearby. While Mickey pilots the boat, Donald and Goofy are seen playing the animals on the shore like instruments. Pete looks on in anger at the way the animals are being treated, with the parrot on the ship pointing everything out to him like a stool pigeon.
Mickey's Follies
You find yourself in a barn scene, derivative of an early concept piece for the original Mickey's Madhouse:
Numerous barnyard animals are performing some silly dances, such as cows doing ballet (as in Mickey's Revue) and ducks dancing around and shaking tailfeathers (as in Mickey's Follies). Speaking of ducks, Donald is doing a duet with Clara Cluck (as in Mickey's Grand Opera), while Clarabelle Cow plays piano (from Mickey's Amateurs) and Horace Horsecollar plays some kind of... pipe instrument... thing (as in The Whoopee Party), and Goofy plays a crazy one-man band (as in Mickey's Amateurs). Even Mickey tries to get in a clarinet solo (like in Blue Rhythm). All the while, Pete tries to sabotage the proceedings, to no avail.
Animal Antics
Leaving the room, your vehicle transitions into a room with performing animals. Here, Donald is trying to get a bear, lion and gorilla to perform, but they all seem to be threatening a nervous Donald. From inside of a pool of water, a whale (resembling that from The Whalers) dances, too, while Goofy rides on its back like a cowboy in a rodeo.
Animated Inanimate
Two separate scenes activate at once, all involving crazy inanimate objects come to life, including giant phones and stacks of playing cards (as in Thru the Mirror), with Mickey dancing along with them here. In a combination garage hangar, cars raise and lower on platforms (resembling Mickey's Service Station), while one plane flies in the air and another, stationary one blows air at guests from a propeller, blowing the feathers off Donald's body. Off to the side, Pete tries to shut off the cars and automaton at the same time (which are apparently coming from the same switch).
Goofy's Wipeout
A third scene involves a wave, which Goofy surfs on (as in Hawaiian Holiday). But alas, Goofy wipes out, and the wave douses Pete, who is quite furious now.
Magician Mickey
Now Mickey is doing a magic act with aid from Donald, but Pete is displeased at being saturated, even accidentally. He decides to retaliate and wreck the show by grabbing a special prop gun of Mickey's that can fire sparkles of light! In desperation, Goofy tries to shut off the lights, but it's no use, as Pete accidentally fires at a crate of fireworks (labeled for nighttime use only)! The result is an explosion scene full of flashing strobe lights (a la Mr. Toad or Roger Rabbit), which blows things up.
Farewell
Pete had literally brought the house down - on top of himself! But Mickey, echoing Kermit the Frog at the end of Muppet-Vision 3D, is relieved that no one was hurt and the Town Square Theater only suffered "minor" damage (even though the area is in tatters). But they are elated that you had a great time, and that they will try to repair the damage in time for the next show.
Unload
You reappear near the load area, disembark and head back through the main queue building structure and to Curtain Call Collectibles.
It's very crude and a work-in-progress. I don't even know what the name of the ride should be, nor what the ride vehicles should look like. Any ideas?
