A thought about this site...

Well, lets see.

The users decided they can't obey a person's basic wish to not be harassed when they try to post information in an attempt to be above the sqaulor.. Way to show your true colors

The moderator obviously didn't heed the request either, and as usual, backs those who are funding him - and amazingly enough, moved an informational thread because of "thread drift" though not another single post in news and rumors hasn't drifted even further.

This post is probably gonna get deleted, That's okay. I say if you take this one out, take them all out though. Fair is fair.

Steve, you know the other requests I have since I've mentioned it to you before. No hard feelings, I just don't think a website should use content from a user they've decided to rally against. I know it's an inconvience to edit the HTML *shrug*

No more saying "Don't let the jerks get you down and drive you away" They did drive me away and mostly because I realized by sticking around I'm still benefitting this site and the users with exclusive content - now why would I wanna do that? OH right, it might of been because I wanted to help some of you. Yes, some, not all. Others of you aren't worth my time and have proven time and again.

I think I'll start a special mailing list. Rob's Random News update with the one premise that it may never be distributed to any websites such as this. You'd get to be in the loop and above the BS

Oo, a ccatch phrase. If it got good enough, maybe it could one day be subscription based with a private forum to berate other users on! Oo oo! I can't wait *eye roll*

Rob, the way I read it, your thread called "Rob's Random News", was not really a thread about WDW Rehabs. It was flame bait.

You wanted people to respond in a malicious way.

Also, do not insult the paying members. If it weren't for people like Mom, Tramp, Fievel, and the other paying members, you and I most likley wouldn't be sitting here today.

Oh, and who do you think the "site" is rallying against?

I really enjoy this site as well as most of the folks who post here, but if everyone's not being treated the same and having to follow the same rules, then I may have to get my "Disney Fix" elsewhere.

Rob, I dont really understand most of what you are saying. I have no requests outstanding from you that I am aware of. If you would like to tell me what they are I can certainly action it.

Rob, I back long standing members for exactly that reason, they are LONG STANDING members. They have been here since day 1, and I know and trust them. The fact that support they site through the years says a lot to me, and the fact that they help fund the site also says a lot. Without those people there would be no site.

I don't think you should insult anyone "paying" or not. I also don't think being a "paying" member makes you or your opinion more important than anybody else's.

This site wouldn't be here without ALL it's members. We are a Disney Family and while there is always some fussing among family members, we should hear each other out and try to fix the problems, not tell them to just go away.

Exactly. That's the thing we're trying to avoid. Around this time last year, there was a whole fiasco about how the paying members were treated better, and all of that crap. That's insulting when people treat you differently because you pay to keep this site going.

BTW, just to make it clear, I am an adopted "paying" member.

You bring things onto yourself. You are not wishing to be left alone, and you enjoy the attention. Your post yesterday in News was a clear indication of that. If you were just interested in the Disney news you would have just posted that news, rather than intermixing it with you little disputes. I am also aware of how you like to engage in arguments with members via Instant Messenger. If you wish not to be engaged in those discussions, you would not open IM chats with people.

While I think everyone should be treated equal and fair. I have to agree with Steve. I went back and read your "Don't Read This if you Don't like Rob" (or whatever u called it) thread and it was just a pity party with you trying to stir up something.

I have found the folks on this board to be very nice and extremely helpful with Disney info and suggestions. I also think you have contributed alot of great info and it will be missed if you go.

But there is no need to start crap just for the sake of being "controversial" or whatever your reasons.

Ideologically speaking, true. Realistically speaking, false. Without the financial contributions of some of the members, Steve could not afford to keep this website operating. This is his hobby. He has a "day job", like the rest of us (whether it be work or school). The corporate sponsers paying for space on the main page does help, but this alone would not be enough to pay for the website. Whatever finances the contributing members and corporate sponsers does not cover, Steve makes up the difference out of his own pocket.

Ironically, the more popular the site becomes, the more expensive it is to maintain. Hopefully, contributing members will grow in proportion, keeping the burden off of Steve.

And, if you were already aware of this, Ace, please forgive my redundancy.

I am aware of this no2. Here's what I am saying. This site would not have sponsors buying ad space if it didn't have the number of hits that it has. I think it is a fair assumption that the "non-paying" folks out weigh the "paying" folks and this would still be a little 600 hits-a-day site without the "non-paying" folks.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE THIS SITE but it wouldn't be what it is without all of us. Paying or not.

I also appreciate all of you who did help build this site and especially Steve for starting it. I also plan on becoming a "paying" member as soon as I'm back ahead of the bill paying game.

I just don't want a war between those who pay and those who don't.

If this came across as anything other than a friendly discussion, I would like to apologize right now.

I can certainly relate to the bill paying thing. I still havn't told my wife what I did (I can always point out her Proffitt's account is she says anything - lol).

I understand what you're saying, and never thought you were anything other than friendly. And as far as the sponsors "buying ad space", I believe that some of the sponsors are only a "pay per use" ad, where Steve receives reimbursement if a member from this site actually uses their business.

*Sigh* Like everything else on the internet, advertising has suffered. Oh well, better than nothing.

This whole "premium members" attack thing got old months ago...it has been prooven that EVERY member of this site is created equally weather they pay or not. If you want to start fights on here...try and be a bit more original. Stale arguments wont get you anywhere.

Hope it's not me. I do find it interesting that the Premium Members are the main ones responding to this and the person who started it hasn't said a word.

I honestly have been trying to stay out of this. I'm a sponsor and I feel that with all of the bickering that one seemingly immature person has started, that it will give a bad impression to any visiting "Guests". We all want new members to join these wonderful boards. I'm asking that everyone end this right now. I agree that Rob's information was quite informative at times, but the pettiness that came with it was unnecessary. I think this whole thread should be deleted, but that is Steve's ultimate decision. Enough of this petty , argumentive , pity party. Let's hear about what we all love and can mutually agree upon.
