A terrible day here in Connecticut

A father while working using a wood chipper in his yard with his children turned his back and in that moment his six year old son feed a piece of wood into the chipper and was killed.
I'm not even going to post the details of the accident out of respect for the family, the police and the firefighters who responded. Only that I can say my prayers go out to the family and all my brothers who responded to this terrible accident. Having for children myself and the youngest being three my heart cries out for it only takes a moment for lives to change.:(

My God, that's terrible. I've just been watching the news for the last 1/2 hour and they haven't mentioned it. (I live in CT) My son helps us with the wood chipper all the time (we supervise too as I'm sure this father was) and I can't IMAGINE the horrible loss. Thank you for sending out this information, my prayers go out to the family.

Just heard it here on our local news. So sad - my heart goes out to the family and to those respondants.

Too awful to contemplate.

I opened this this thread because I thought it was joke about returning home from vacation. I wish there had been some sort of warning about the content. :(

I think seeing the name firefighter, that it was an indication. I thought it was more brush fire causing a major problem. But, the title does kind of indicate something sad happened. I'm sorry you had to read that though... it is upsetting. If you could keep the family in your prayers... that would be kind.

My heart goes out to the family. His father and siblings will never fully recover from this.

A tragic reminder that no mater how closely you watch your children there is some heavy machinery that they should not be allowed to use even with supervision.

I grew up on a farm and have heard of awful things like this too many times in my life. We weren't allowed around anything like the wood chipper or the hay bailer until we were at least pre-teens and even then my mother wasn't too happy to catch us out there around it.

I really don't think that the username would be an indication of its content and keep in mind this appeared first in WDW Parks General Discussion. I think a person could be forgiven for thinking it was something entirely different.

You are certainly forgiven... I can see why you might think that. I just felt you were a little harsh to the first poster. I have a hard time when people are critical.
