A Teacher in WDW: Pre-trip Report

Ok, perhaps it's a bit too early for a pre-trip since I'm leaving in 132 days, but I just can't help myself!

This is my first pre-trip report and I'm a bit of a talker so if I go a little overboard, I apologize in advance!

So, first how about a little background......

I first visited The World when I was 2 with my parents and a few members of my extended family. The only thing I remember about this trip was crying incessantly on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and riding the Tea Cups. The year was 1972 and it hadn't even been open even a year yet.

Second visit happened in 1998. I accompanied my aunt, uncle, 4 cousins (2 of which were aged 12 & 7). I was afraid I wouldn't be able to really get into the Magic of Disney as an adult. But, boy, was I wrong. My 7-year-old cousin and I had a blast! Couldn't wait to go back.....

But that didn't happen until 2008 with my parents (who hadn't visited since 1972) and my daughter (age 4 at the time). This was my daughter's first visit and my first time staying on Disney property (at AKV). OH MY is all I can say. I truly fell in love with Disney unlike any other time before.

So, now I'm looking forward (very impatiently) to September 26, when we will visit The World once again. It's so funny to me when I tell people in my life that I'm going to Disney this Sept because they usually say, "Again? You just went last year." They obviously don't get it.....if I have my way about it, I'll vacation there every year from now until forever!

This trip will be with my daughter (of course), my best friend from when I was growing up (age 36), her husband (age 30), her sons (age 11 & 2 at the time of the vacation), her parents (in their late 50's) and her brother (age 20). We are staying at Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs Resort. I'm excited about staying here because they're new, well, at least newly remodeled. We picked this resort because we really needed 3 bedrooms and the floorplan worked out great for our party. I'm a little worried about the walk to the pools, restaurants, and other amenities of SSR. After walking all day at the parks, I'm not excited about an additional walk to parts of our resort. This is only a concern for me because when I was 20 years old, I was in a very bad car accident and crushed my right foot and ankle. It doesn't bother me until I walk excessively which is a given at WDW! Of course, a renting a scooter is an option, but I'm not trying to do that everyday either if I can mange without it! (Hmmmm, am I rambling?)

My daughter and I are flying down on the 26th (a Saturday). Our flight departs at 2:15 and arrives at 4:00. The rest of our party decided to drive down and we're planning to meet them at the resort.

Sounds like you have a great trip planned. Looking forward to hearing about your trip!

Thanks! I can hardly wait until our trip. And I'm very excited about posting a trip report with pictures. I didn't post a trip report from last year's trip (July 2008.....is it too late? lol) so this will be my first one. I love reading other's reports!
