A tail???...

Last night, I went to Olive Garden, and to the mall afterwards, with some friends. When I was leaving the mall, the parking lot was almost empty, so I set off my car alarm (to scare any potential "attackers"!). I pulled up to a red light, and this man in an old, beat up car pulled up beside me...he looked over, and the light turned green. Well, I was turning to get on the interstate, and he was just going straight.....when I turned, he got out of his lane, and followed me...I don't live too far from the mall, but he stayed in the same lane as me all the way home. When I turned to go into the street where my neighboor hood is, he turned too.

Well, luckily, my neighboor hood is gated, so when I pulled up, there was still a security gard on duty...when I turned, the "tail" went straight.

Anybody else think this was a little weird?

That's kind of creepy.

At first I thought you were going to say that you noticed that the guy had a tail!

I didn't know what to call him...trailer, tail, follower....:lookaroun

Thats when you need to slam the brakes on so he runs into the back of you, then you floor the gas and burnout all the way home, whilst he's rebuilding the front of his car.

No I'm only joking. That does sound quite weird, but it may just have been perfectly innocent.

No point worrying about it.

Woah dude! That would freak me out.

I work in a mall and our security is great about walking us out in groups, especially those carrying night deposits. I've had a couple times where I thought I was being followed. It also doesn't help ease the paranoia when a mall employee was robbed not too long ago at gun point.

Yeah we went to BayFest here in South Texas and a gothic man walking around with a shirt saying " Mommy, I can go out and kill tonight?" Well he was following us for about 15 min.............. Yeah I know how you feel.

You shouldn't stereotype people so damn much. "Mommy can I go out and kill tonight?" Is great song done by the Misfits years and years ago. I'm sure he got a kick out of scaring you though. :p

I wonder what you would say if you saw me. :veryconfu

WIth all of the weirdos' out there, you can't be too careful.

One night some time ago, I had a scare on the road, but there was a twist to it...

While my mother and I were driving home, I had just made a turn at an intersection and was waiting at a red light to make another turn to get onto the interstate , when the two men in the car next to me, motioned for me to pull over. I looked at them like they were nuts, and when the light turned green, I made my turn and proceeded on.

The next thing I see were red flashing lights behind me. Now I'm really scared, because I realize that they were policemen in an unmarked car, and I did not know what was wrong.

The officer told me I made an illegal turn, and he asked me why I didn't pull over before when he motioned for me to.

I told him that they did not show me ID or anything, and I was frightened, because I did not know who they were.

After seeing my Driver's License, he saw that I did not live in that area, and cut me some slack and did not write a ticket.

I was still shaken up about it after we left, mainly because those officiers should have known better and shown me ID. Did they think I was going to pullover just because they told me too.

Don't blame you a bit, Camelot, for not stopping. The officers should have done a better job of identifying themselves when they waived at you. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for officers who work in "unmarked" cars to get identified quite quickly by the "bad guys." They sometimes forget that not everyone can spot them as well as the "bad guys" can.

What if you hadn't lived in a gated community, with a security guard?

I was always taught that if I thought I was being followed, I should go to a police station (we have several substations where there are always police) or to a fire station (usually there are more of them, so if one group is out on a call, go to the next) and ask to use their phone. Then have a parent/spouse/friend/policeman escort you home. I was taught to NEVER go home alone. The person following could grab you as you were going into your home; you're also letting him know where you live.

It appears you were in no real danger...it's just kind of creepy...shudder.

If there wasn't a guard, I would have went to the police station, gas station, somewhere were there were lots of lights.

It was really weird.

Oh Lord...

You must have been scared to death! I used to have a "stalker" myself and it was absolutely terrifying! I hope you are doing well and don't have to go through what I am :)

There are time where I follow people 'all' the way downtown. I follow people practically 7 miles into town not to stalk them but to get to work. I kinda feel bad cause I fear that they think i'm a psyco following them, but in reality i'm not (just in a rush to get to work  ).

A good test to see if someone's following you is to make 3 consecutive left turns or 3 consecutive right turns. I've heard this on TV once and they say if that person's still behind you, you're being followed.

I remember reading something like that in one of those "Survival Guides"...you know which ones I'm talking about?
