This place seems to have a cover charge!!! This is a new low for Disney
Not exactly sure why you would think that...other than to complain more about Disney. You make a reservation ahead of time, pre-pay and you get 2 hours including two drinks of your choice, a souvenir pint glass, a Scum and Villainy challenge coin, and other surprises.

All you have to do is keep the challenge coin and you're able to get back in for free during the open seating.

Not everything Disney does has to be doom and gloom.

Actually, this is a new low for you, as this isn't even a Disney place. Way to bash Disney for something they have nothing to do with.

It's Disney's IP, Disney licenses it so it means Disney is on board with a cover charge for entertainment based on Disney IP. Now probably coming (the cover charge) to a Disney IP Park near you.

Just like Disney has suspended MARVEL and Star Wars gambling machines in the US, They are still sold outside the US so Disney is perfectly happy to profit from gaming.

The Facebook page and web site don't make any mention of Star Wars and doesn't use any Star Wars imagery. Since this is a pop up they might just be trying to get away with it. They are also encouraging people to come in costume which gives them costumed characters without having to license them.

That was my thought but Disney goes to great lengths to protect their IP even to a pizza shop in middle of country. So hard to believe they would allow this which is literally in their backyard. Because I'm pretty sure "space" and "cantina" is too close. Hollywood Reporter is saying this "A pop-up recreating the classic Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope will soon debut in Hollywood."

Disney gives two flips - go on any lifestylers blog and youll find multiple infringements. Ricky was selling sexy Mansion maid art for gods sake.

I disagree. There is a difference between someone infringing on a blog and a bar operating in major city regardless if it's a pop up or not. Especially with the fact that Mos Eisley Cantina will be part of SWL.

This project has nothing to do with Disney. A sci-fi themed cantina in itself can not be copyrighted, as they have existed long before Lucas wrote Star Wars. "Atmophere" and "feeling" are up for grabs and in the public domain. "Scum and Villainy" can be used by anyone as long as they don't display it with a specific Star Wars image. This will be a generic sci-fi restaurant. Anyone can build one and claim they're trying to capture the feel of Star Wars. Or Indiana Jones. Or Animated Films. As long as they don't directly use Disney-owned characters, music or copyrighted items, they're home-free.

When Star Wars first appeared in '77, the records stores were flooded with generic scifi electronic music albums that proudly proclaimed on the cover, "Music inspired by Star Wars." Anyone can do it. Buyer beware.

... and you can tell by their website that they are being very careful to avoid and direct connection with Star Wars.

And when it comes down to it, this is NOTHING compared to the thousands of Disney Rip-Off (but legal) cheaply animated films that otherwise reputable retail chains sell by the truckload (Jungle King, Upward, Zootown, etc.).

Exactly what I thought as well.

The linked to the article is the only place that actually references Star Wars. The website for the group doing the pop-up doesn't mention it anywhere, just alludes to it. Stick a bunch of random aliens at a bar, and voila! Sci-fi inspired cantina without infringing on any trademarks or copyrights.
