A Sesame Street Feature Film is on the Way
20th Century Fox has plans to bring Sesame Street to the big screen, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Shawn Levy will produce through 21 Laps alongside Michael Aguilar, Guymon Cassidy and Mark Gordon. Joey Mazzarino, who has written for the series since 1998, will provide the screenplay.
Created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morriset in 1969, the educational children's program features iconic characters like Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie and many, many more.
Sesame Street has come to the big screen twice before: in 1985 with Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird and in 1999 with Elmo in Grouchland.
Levy, the director of films like Night at the Museum, Date Night and Real Steel, recently became attached to produce Paramount Pictures' Monster Problems.
