A question for the experts...

Hi All,

I have a seemingly confusing question that may require a bit of background; but if you'll hang with me through the set-up, I'll eventually get to my inquiry. Thanks in advance for the help (I can always count on the expertise of the WDWMagic forum members!).

Setup:
We're planning a family trip to WDW for January '14. We'll be there for the Marathon weekend, and the week following (my father is running his first marathon). My sister and her husband will be joining us from Hawaii, where she is active-duty Marine Corps. My sister was planning to book the room at AoA for the 6 of us, using her military discount, but Disney will not set these rates until August. To ensure that we got in where we wanted, my father went ahead and reserved the room under his name (and credit card) a couple of months ago. The Disney rep told him they could change the reservation over to my sister's name once the military discounts were set. OK, sounds like a plan.

My question:
Our 180-day ADR date is July 15th (before we'll be able to transition the room reservations). If we book our 180-day ADRs in July under our current reservation, will there be a risk of losing them when the reservation changes names? I'm particularly worried that they will cancel the current reservation and re-book under a totally new one. What happens to ADRs in this instance?

Sorry for the long winded question, but I'm hoping someone has experience with something similar and can help.

Thanks!

I think your ADRs should be okay. :) Make sure you note each of the confirmation numbers that you get when you make the reservations - THOSE are the important things. Once your reservation changes over you may have to call to get them linked to your new resort reservation.

Can someone else confirm this?

Once the change has taken place it might just be worth ringing Disney to make sure, although people say it will be fine, you never know, would be very disappointing to arrive and lose all of your pre-planned reservations :(
