Trip Report A Not So Splashy, Very Dashy, Somewhat Sleepy and A Little Frisky, Uplyfting Sept 2018 TR (Completed!)

Once again, it is so hard to believe that our adventure in WDW is over. I don’t understand how time goes so fast when we are there. Even though this was our longest trip ever, it still flew by.

We returned home around midnight on Saturday and I’ve been getting back to reality and catching up on reading other TR’s before beginning my own.

Just in case you may not know us…

Me: Mary/mom

Ross – Dad AKA Grumpy, but was acting more like Sleepy on this trip. (And yes – those Crocs came along with him.)

Julia – DD Sweet 16 this trip

Hope – My 9 year old princess whose diagnoses of Autism usually lends itself to some interesting tidbits for my TR’s.

Trip details:

September 6th – 8th at Art Of Animation (Room only)

September 8th – 22nd Pop Century (MYW Package Free Dining)

Yep- that’s a LONG trip – our longest EVER. Still it managed to fly by in the blink of an eye.

If you’re not familiar with my crazy crew or you need to catch up, feel free to check out my pre trip report here:

By the time we arrived at POP, we were all hungry.

IMG_2649.JPG

I checked the MDE App and saw we did not have a room yet, so we headed into Everything Pop and got some lunch.

It was great to be on the dining plan now! Julia and I could have easily shared a meal. We both got the fried chicken and Hope got chicken nuggets and fries.

As we were eating, it started it rain outside.

When we were done, I checked with the front desk about our room and sure enough, we they had one ready for us! It was in the 50’s section - room 2116. The rain had let up so we walked over. I was so glad that it a much shorter walk to the 50's Than the Little Mermaid section at AoA. I loved some of the room door decorations.

I always say I want to do this, but then I never do. Our room was in the back of the building, so our view was a parking lot, but it was right by the laundry, which I loved!

@Matt and Kelly I was sad to see this. No more travel size Disney toiletries for us this trip. But actually I ended up liking them.

I called to see if our luggage had arrived and it was! In a few minutes, it was on its way to our room. Since it was still raining, we took our time to unpack everything and get some rest. I think we were all still drained from the night before.

Same with me... I thought about it, tried to plan it a few times, but then I thought... I don't want to pack all that.... and scrapped the idea.

Exactly, I can never figure out what to do. Then I'll get too many ideas from the internet and finally, I will NEVER have the room in the suitcases to pack the stuff! lol

I'm so so so late! I've been so busy at work, and admittedly, suffering the Post Disney Depression which sometimes makes it hard to come on here, but I really wanted to read your trip report!!

How about your pixie dust so far!? Loving that you got free tickets to MNSSHP!! It looks like you guys had a great time!

I love AoA! I just know Harper would love those pools. We need to go check it out sometime.

I wish we had run into you!

Anyway, I'm here reading along!

We loved PoP ... so much so cuz those beds are SO comfy, that I am really debating on staying there again. I'd like to try another resort, but will I love the bed as much? I know I wouldn't miss the LONG bus stop walk at all the parks!

The beds were really comfy cozy! I think my one complaint would be that I wish the pillows weren't so huge! lol I like "thinner" pillows!

Thanks so much for following along! I'm enjoying your report too. So glad you're updating. AoA is fun - even just to visit it for a while. The food court was good too - I actually liked it a lot better than Pop.

As I was nearing finishing unpacking, I realized that I was missing a lot of our toiletries. Then I realized I was missing an entire suitcase! I called Bell Services and left a message. I would have walked down and investigated, but we had an ADR and I didn’t want to be late so I just hoped my bag would be in our room when we returned.

We were heading to the Grand Floridian so we walked to the bus stop to catch a bus. When we got there, the sign showed a 30 minute wait for a MK bus. I didn’t think that could be right, but I didn’t want to take a chance – especially since it looked like rain. The first bus to pull up to the stop was for AK, so we hopped on that and from there we took a bus to the GF.

Soon we arrived and were having dinner with the royal family.

Dinner was really good – Julia has been trying to eat more gluten free – neither one of us have an allergy – but an intolerance. She gets stomach cramps but can’t make the jump to being totally GF – but she tries. She mentioned it to our waitress and the waitress had the chef make her GF shrimp scampi – which was delicious!!

When we returned, I got the girls settled in bed and then had to run to the gift shop. My poor Julia was in pain. She has been wearing Invisaligns for the past year and everything has gone great. The day before we left for Disney, she saw the dentist and received her last trays. Don’t you know, this would be the one time her teeth were bothering her? Apparently, her upper gum was irritated and the Invisalign tray was scrapping away at it. But she couldn’t take out the tray because she was worried that it would get too tight and not fit. So she sucked it up and wore them. I was able to get her Ambesol to deaden her gum somewhat, but it too almost a week for the pain to go away.

While I was shopping around, I noticed these…

IMG_2744.JPG

Yep. Those are the Crocs!!! I was secretly hoping that they would be nowhere to be found, but here they were right in our resort just waiting for Ross to arrive.

I walked to the lobby and paid off our bill.

The POP's lobby is nice, but I think AoA's lobby decorations are so much better. I'm just not into all the memorabilia even though obviously, it's the theme of the resort. When I returned tot he room, the girls were fast asleep.

Just finished getting caught up with your report so far. I was so excited reading about your magical surprise tickets to the Halloween Party!!
Hang onto that stroller as long as it works for you and don't worry about strange looks. We're planning a trip to Disneyland in January and are trying to figure out what to do about the stroller situation for Xander (he's about to turn 12). Technically he could walk on his own but we've come to realize that it's more about the sensory cocoon the stroller provides for him. Luckily he's still running shortish for his age and still can fit the parameters of the stroller we like to use.
