Trip Report A New Hope, A New Day *COMPLETED*

That’s not a Star Wars reference.

Longtime readers of my trip reports know Star Wars isn’t my thing (although I immensely enjoy Rise of the Resistance.)

Fireworks are my thing. Like a moth to a flame, I am instinctively drawn to bursts of brilliant sparkles and colors in the sky. Just ask my family how quickly I’ve stopped whatever I’m doing to find the source of nighttime booms! I have serious fireworks FOMO.

Disney fireworks....especially Magic Kingdom fireworks....always flood me with nostalgia, happy memories and hope. After a long pandemic year, I know I am not alone in my yearning for hope of better days ahead.

The return of Disney fireworks, for me, is a sign that things are improving. Hooray!!

But there won’t be any pyro on my upcoming trip. And that’s ok. This vacation was booked with the assumption there would be no nighttime entertainment. (However when rumors began to suggest fireworks in July…..well let’s just say there might be another reservation in MDE for us.)

Who’s us?

Mother/daughter travel buddies, Tuvalu and Em. We last visited together in early April. We were there the day the mask mandate was dropped for stationary pictures.

Today the mask mandate for all those vaccinated has been suspended and we couldn’t be happier! We won’t have to be shrouded in a daft disguise again this summer!

I am not planning to do a full live report but may post a daily update. I’ll fill in the details when our vacation is over.

STOP THE PRESSES!

We did not have lunch at PizzeRizzo.

(I know, right?!!)

After having tried such a delicious chicken club (and @PineapplePrincess can vouch for me here) we returned for another.

There were mobile order Door Nazis at the entrance. We were a few minutes early for our window so we watched the action from afar.

After pressing “I’m here, prepare my order” our burger flipped for a LONG time. (Those of you who have mobile ordered will understand that reference. )

Once inside we had no problem with our pick up….but finding a table was a challenge. Again.

Our chicken clubs were not as fabulous this time. Though I hate to use the word again, mine was disappointing. Undercooked bacon , unripened (barely pink) tomato and brown lettuce.

Perhaps we should have gone to PizzeRizzo after all.

I'm so happy for you both that you got to experience HOA again!!! Where is the PP camera in the Haunted Mansion? I never seem to be looking anywhere near it. I am really hoping we get boarding passes for ROTR during our December trip because my daughter and her Boyfriend have never experienced it before and he is a BIG Star Wars fan! Sorry your chicken sandwich was a disappointment the second time around.

Awww.....you didn't clue the mom in that she should take the chicken exit because it does indeed go up-side-down? Poor mom!! I wonder if the daughter was that clueless, or whether she just wanted to trick her mom into going on it.

Oh the daughter was absolutely tricking her mom on purpose.
And there was no way I was getting involved in their conversation.

Where is the PP camera in the Haunted Mansion? I never seem to be looking anywhere near it.

I prefer veggie.

Day Three, con’t

While at lunch we checked standby wait times.

We returned to Hollywood after a refreshing afternoon at the pool.

Em and I figured we could handle the wait for one of our faves.

Like Frozen Ever After from a couple days earlier this may not have been the best choice. The outdoor line was very slow moving and it was HOT. To make matters worse, there was no a/c inside the theater. The standby wait had been posted at 60 minutes and we waited exactly that.

Was it worth the effort the second time around?

To get this picture for Tuvalette (her favorite scene), indeed it was!
