A must read article about the attacks!

JAY-ROD, this article was also in the Florida Times-Union, and most other newspapers, I suspect, but is worth a second look. The authorities made it clear that these sites had been looked at, but not chosen, for the initial attacks, for whatever reason.(we can only speculate) Does this mean they will be attacked in the future? Who knows? However, the terrorists, by their very nature, choose to surprise unsuspecting targets, so will probably not attack these places. Of course, we're not dealing with people who think and reason like you and I, so who can predict what they'll do next! I'm just going to follow the President & Vice President's advice and keep my eyes wide open for anything suspicious, and call the police, etc if I see anything. I think our days of giving other people the "benefit of the doubt" about their behavior may be over.

BTW, an attempted kidnapping at a local Wal-mart(Palatka...our weekend home)was thwarted by alert onlookers who approached a man carrying a crying 7 year old to a van. When she shouted "He's not my daddy!" they jumped on him and held him until the police arrived. People are not going to stand by anymore!

Wow... great to see people getting involved. It's time Americans start facing the realities of the 21st century... I saw an author who was saying how terrible it is that we still tell children not to talk to strangers when we need to teach them to distinguish "good" strangers and "bad" strangers--police officers and store clerks are strangers, but if they get separated from a parent, those strangers are the child's best line of defense to get help! It's hard to tell if people are "good" or "bad" based on appearance, but children need to know to respect when an adult makes them uncomfortable not to go near them.... to know that adults don't ask children to help find lost dogs and such.... BTW, my bratty brother once threatened to yell "You're not my mommy" if my mom made him leave a store he wanted to be in.... I don't think he ever made that threat again...
