A (Loooong) Overdue Introduction

Hi!

I’ve lurked for months (far longer than my “joined” date would suggest) and commented once or twice, but I figured it was time to introduce myself properly. I’m Carrie, I’m twenty-six and I live in New Jersey. I’m an Assistant Editor at a small academic publishing company and there are few things (if any) that I love more than Disney. I’ve seen just about every Disney film (both live action and animated), I am a veteran of both old TV classics (a la Zorro and Davy Crockett) and the shows I grew up with (like Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, Tale Spin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, etc.), and I’ve been to Walt Disney World/traveled with Disney a total of (lucky) thirteen times!

My first trip was when I was four and we stayed at Dixie Landings (I know it’s Port Orleans Riverside now, but it will always be Dixie Landings to me :)). I don’t remember much from that trip (and most of the pictures have been lost), but I do know that it ignited in me a love for Disney that hasn’t left (in fact, it’s just gotten bigger) since. I’ve done the Disney Cruise twice (first on the Magic in its inaugural season and then on the Wonder a few years later) and I’ve stayed at Disney itself eleven times (twice at POR, once at Caribbean Beach, once at the Boardwalk Villas, and seven times at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge). We always drive to Disney (except this past year when I went with my old college friends and we flew out of Newark…it only taking three hours vs. two days was WEIRD), and have many on-the-road, I-95 traditions, as well. Also, I have no shame that I am twenty-six and still vacation with my parents—they’re my favorite people and we all love Disney!

The biggest change was the year my parents decided to become DVC members. It’s a funny story (and one I’d be happy to share if anyone was interested), but suffice it to say we sat through a presentation at an off-property timeshare to get Sea World tickets and ended up buying into DVC instead!

So, due to DVC and my parents’ love of Disney in general, I’ve gotten to go to WDW many times over my lifetime. I’ve seen favorite attractions close (RIP Wonders of Life pavilion), seen awesome new attractions open (Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster), seen an entire new park open (Animal Kingdom!), and more. And I’ve loved every minute of it. I can count on one hand the number of bad experiences I’ve had at Disney (and most of those were due to the rudeness of other guests, not Disney CMs), but the memories I’ve made are limitless.

I look forward to spending my days doing what I already do (writing about, thinking about, and planning Disney trips) with all of you! Thanks for everything that you all do! And PLEASE ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT MY DISNEY EXPERIENCES IF YOU WANT. I have some good stories, some strong opinions (so I’ll fit right in, right? ;)) and I love to talk (especially about Disney :D)! Thanks for reading this monstrosity!
