A look at this year's completed Epcot holiday decorations

Wow. When I saw the first picture, I thought you were just playing with us and having some fun. Then I saw that you weren't.

I'm speechless.

^No kidding. I don't know what to say. The McDonalds down the street is more festive looking than Epcot's entrance at this point. Its embarrassing that this is what Disney considers Christmas decoration.

Here is a possibility....

they may purposely be removing or at least minimizing Christmas at Epcot bit by bit as the years pass because they may be planning to emphasize a new offering. Perhaps something that is longer lasting than the Christmas season. Perhaps something that can fill the timeframe between "F&W" and "F&G". Hmmmm?:veryconfu Just a thought.

That would be OK with me as long as Christmas at the MK, the resorts and DtD gets plussed every year. :xmas:

No unfortunately it's just because the budget has been hacked.

I'm a bit disappointed that the topiaries that normally go in the main entrance planter have been scattered about elsewhere. Oh well, not too surprising.

At least we're still "able" to pay $$$$ for the CP dining package. I wish that would become obsolete (the costly dinner package, not the show itself).

Shame on Scroogie McDisney!! This park was once a holiday feast for the eyes. The photos shown on the link are a shadow of EPCOT's former holiday self.

We just got back and I thought EPCOT was decorated very nicely myself. However, in the interest of full disclosure, I thought the LOW were kind of tacky but that's just my opinion.

And the best ways to plus MK at Christmastime would be to bring back the Country Bear Xmas Show, start offering Haunted Mansion Holiday and It's a Small World Holiday and offer the Xmas parade and live shows during the regular non-event operating hours more often.

No unfortunately it's just because the budget has been hacked.

Due to the current economic recession, which a lot of this forum's members seem to be oblivious to.

From the looks of the pictures I have more lights on my front yard. This is starting to confirm how I want to expand my Chirstmas display. I will be adding a LOW tribute with around 10,000-20,000 lights on the arches over my driveway. I asked Disney since they feel that the arches are obsolite to send them to me and I'll put them to use in my yard.

Scrooges.

I do think they should consider some sort of Festival based on Winter though. They are common around the world. There is a lot of possibilities for special lighting etc. Perhaps a rethemed LoW, ice sculpting in the evenings, artficial snow also at night, a new parade etc. Just a thought.

This is a really pathetic effort from a place that has its own christmas special on the Travel Channel.

It doesn't make sense why they couldn't at least do the entrance like normal. Overall, it screams half-baked.

Given what the new marketing campaign is, are we really that surprised? They are expecting us to start decorating the castle next year, so maybe the plan with the new Epcot decorations is to also involve guests in the decorating--guests may bring their OWN decorations to Epcot this holiday season to help bring the holiday magic alive. After turning in their decorations by 3 pm each day, guests will be able to delight in walking around the park trying to find their decorations at twilight.

Let the Memories Begin.

Wow. Nearly speechless.

There are more Christmas decorations up at Disney California Adventure's main entrance, and that entrance area is currenly being hacked to bits as the extreme park makeover has just arrived at DCA's main entrance to turn it into Buena Vista Street.

But even in the midst of all the construction and destruction, they still decorated the Golden Gate Bridge with wreaths and lights and put up the candy cane letters and characters on the CALIFORNIA sign this year. You still have to have some Christmas cheer in the middle of the construction walls.

I dare say the continuing cutbacks at Epcot, an established and mature theme park with a solid attendance base and no current construction, is very fishy. There just is no good reason for less and less Christmas as the years go along. It's troubling, and very suspicious if you ask me. :veryconfu

And to think, I was slammed for noting the lack of decorations a few days ago saying that "Holidays around the world" was the theme and that FutureWorld SHOULD be decoration free.
