A long time Disney fan turns sour!

I have a question for everyone who says they aren't going to give their money to WDW anymore, why do you continue to come on these forums? I'm genuinely interested because if it was me personally and I was done with Disney, I wouldn't be on here.

Shuffle shuffle shuffle..

Maybe that helps with perspective.

People can still love and be passionate about Disney while at the same time be frustrated and annoyed with them.

No that doesn't help me at all. I come on here personally because I've only been twice, one of them was just in October, so I have tons to learn about Disney. I hadn't been on or even heard of half the rides. I had never used fast passes. I hadn't been to any of the restaurants. I was going to be staying at AKL and had never been there. There was a lot of good information I gained from reading things on here.

I don't understated the line about loving and being passionate about Disney but being frustrated. I asked if you aren't going to go back, why be on here? If you're just frustrated and going to go back less, I get that. I mean if you're never coming back, why be on here? I don't know if this applies to you or not.

Also I don't think anyone is saying they're happy to give their money to Disney. I don't like giving my money to anyone, electric company, mortgage company, grocery store, etc etc.. However I enjoy Disney at this point. I have a lot of friends who love camping, I live in Colorado, everyone here does. They go on vacations to the middle of nowhere and camp. I personally can't stand camping, so I don't do it. We all have different things that make us happy and that we are willing to spend our money on. Personal preference.

It doesn't apply to me, as I still go all the time. They've made a lot of changes I don't like though, so I can understand how people would be angry. If nobody ever spoke out against things they thought were wrong, imagine where we'd be today.

Thanks, but no thanks.

I disagree, this board is filled with people who are happy to give any amount of money to Disney. There's nothing wrong with that.

I agree with if you're unhappy you should speak up, I wonder do you think that Disney is on these forums reading the complaints? I've seen people saying it but I wonder how true it is. Do you personally voice these issues to Disney directly? Just wondering.

I'm sure there are people who will gladly give all their money to Disney. We all spend money on things that other people don't understand. I have a family of six so everywhere we go costs a fortune which means I have to find something that will make all of us happy.

I'm sure Disney has people reading the forums, and also posing as guests as well. Personally, yes I voice my grievances to Disney directly when merited.

That's interesting to me but what do you mean specifically?

Disney is...
...A movie studio that has created characters and stories that have been cherished by generations. Interacting with those in different ways is interesting to many...
...A movie studio with properties many are interested in development and reception
... a leader in theme park entertainment which many have personal interests in from a design or creative angle
... a lead example of tourist activity and trends
... a portion of their childhood or past that they are interested in discussing or reminiscing about (see many of the retro or extinct Disney topics/sites out there)
... a story of American culture and history that people are interested in from both past, present, and future
... a vacation destination that people like to hear about what is possible or share experiences and reviews
... the trials and outputs of a man who was driven and bold enough to put his ideas into practice... and continually improve and refine them.

And more

Some people have hobbies that mean they study or immerse themselves in ancient civilizations, military history, cultural history. Disney is no different. Disney is not just a theme park in the Florida swamps. It's a nearly 100 old legacy spawned from ideas that were different and determined.

We haven't agreed about anything as of late, but that was an inspiring post. Well done.

You don't enjoy the benefits of electricity?
You don't like your house?
You don't like eating regularly?
Sure you do -- you just don't like paying more than is required to get those things, and you're used to the way things have been for you.

Well, if your electric company started raising rates while reducing service times -- say, from 9am to 8pm instead of 24 hours a day, you'd want to complain.
If your mortgage company started charging extra fees -- like, say, a parking fee for using your own driveway, you'd complain.
And if your grocery store started selling front-of-the-line privileges to its patrons, you'd want to complain as well.

See the parallels?

No. These are not parallels. My electric company raises rates every year. I don't get a say in it. My mortgage company is not allowed to do that so that's just a ridiculous one. My grocery store can charge for front of the line privileges if they want, but I would choose not pay it, not complain.
My point was, I don't like to give my money to anyone. I do however because I want to eat and have a home.
You said I just don't like paying more than is required for those things. But how does one determine what is more than required? I get a bill for electricity, I can't negotiate the fee nor do I have the opportunity to go somewhere else as I have only one option.
When it comes to vacation people have an option.

Your "question" is not an honest one.
You are dispensing rhetoric here.

What? It is an honest one, how can you tell me that I'm not being honest? What rhetoric am I dispensing? And putting question in quotation marks like it's made up.

I am new to these forums. I came here to seek advice and learn things to help me plan a vacation. I often see unhappy comments. As I mentioned earlier I understand if people are frustrated and are voicing concerns but I genuinely want to know why if someone has totally given up on going back, why they would continue to post on the forums. I am 100% genuine and honest with that question and deeply insulted that you would say otherwise.

You missed the point, but that's only because you don't want to see the point.

My point -- if your electric company/mortgage company/grocery store had a fan-following with a website, there would be people on it complaining about the changes. This is no different.

True because it's the internet and everyone must complain all the time. I guess I'm just not that person.
