Trip Report A long overdue August 2017 Trip Report

Hello Everyone :), I haven't posted a trip report since 2014 so I am a bit rusty. I had all of the photos for this trip saved in a file marked trip report but I never got back to it, however since I have seen a lot of other people posting older trip reports I was hoping no one would mind if I added mine. This particular trip almost didn't happen because at the time my father was very sick and we were not sure how much longer he would be with us. I talked it over with my parents and my dad encouraged my husband and I to go. I am so glad we did because I have the most wonderful memory of sharing the photos with my father and talking about everything we did.

When: August 14-20, 2017
Where: All Star Sports

We actually left on August 13 and flew to Toronto to stay overnight with my DH's brother and then flew to Orlando the next morning.

The next few photos are from the flight on August 14th:

We took a couple more pics before braving Expedition Everest.

By this time it was getting dark so we made our way to the Tree of Life to enjoy the little light up show and then we decided to try a night Safari. My camera does not seem to take good night pics unless there is a lot of background light or maybe it's the users lack of knowledge on what setting it should be on 🤷‍♀️;). Whatever the reason I opted to just enjoy the ride.

This drink was delicious :hungry:.

We noticed that the wait time for FOP was down to 45minutes so we hopped in line

We finally made our way out of the park about a quarter after midnight. It was amazing to be able to enjoy AK that late at night. It was actually open late most of the week we were there because of the new land just opening. We debated going back the following night but we were too tired .

Friday, August 18th

After 3 late nights in a row we were exhausted so today was a slow day. We woke up late and went to Disney Springs to do a little shopping and have lunch.

I don't remember what kind of sandwich we got but it was good.

Then we were off to HS for the rest of the day.

I was not interested in meeting Kylo Ren lol.

I think the next series of pics speak for themselves :). I remember the first time I went on this ride in 2011 I was absolutely terrified lol. Now I love it but I still get nervous every time.

We were ready for dinner after our adrenaline rush. I believe that we ate at ABC Commissary.

Then it was time for Fantasmic. I know that some people don't care for this show but we love the energy of the crowd. I still remember the first time we saw it in 2011 we came out joking that Mickey was a Rock Star lol. It ended up being one of our favourite memories of our 1st trip to WDW.

We left the park after the show and went back to the resort. It was a beautiful night, not too muggy, so we sat outside at one of the tables and enjoyed some treats.

OK...I have been to Hollywood Studios over 20 times and have ridden Tower of Terror probably 50 times because it's my favorite but I have never seen this statue...where exactly is it? Learn something new every day...and that is why you can never say you've seen it all.

I don't remember exactly other than she was outside in the queue. DH never noticed it either :).

Rather than head back to the resort for the rest of the afternoon we decided to keep going so we headed to Epcot as DH's mother wanted us to pick something up for her in Mexico.

DH remembers this ride from his first (and only until many years later) visit to MK when he was 7. When we took our first trip together in 2011 he was a bit disappointed that it was gone.

I am not sure where we met Baby Groot but here is a picture lol.
