Your choices are all good ones. They are the first ones I would have picked, almost exactly!

Cape May Cafe - breakfast is anything but spectacular, and when we were there they were woefully behind in the ADRs, but the characters are great! Goofy is one of our favorites!

Are you trying to get into CRT? It's much easier now that the princesses are at lunch as well. Although I see you are already doing Akershus.

There's a new Donald and friends breakfast in Harambe in Africa in the AK. I have heard that lunch is great there. It's at Tusker House - it used to be counter service; now it's table service. I haven't heard about breakfast, but if it's as good as when Donald was over in Restaurantosaurus (he's not there anymore) it will be great!

Are the kids too old for Disney Playhouse? Hollywood & Vine has has "Play 'n' Dine" for Breakfast and Lunch. Jo-Jo's Circus and Little Einsteins characters. Apparently it's run at the same time as the regular Breakfast and Lunch in a back room or something. It's brand new, and I don't know anything about it, although I wish it were there in 2005, because we would have gone before my younger DD was too old (she would have been 7). I've never eaten at Hollywood & Vine, so I know nothing of the restaurant, either. Are you there for the "Play 'n' Dine", or just the regular buffet?

Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a bit pricey, but the show is really, really good. There are character meet 'n' greets at the entertainment breaks. It's only Thu and Sat, and it should be great to go in the cool weather when you are there. We went in June, and it was 90 deg F that night and humid! We had fun anyway, but I almost passed out while country line dancing (well, not literally) after drinking beer all night in that heat! (Oh, yes - it's all you care to eat including beer and wine.)

The Garden Grove at the Swan (formerly Gulliver's) has character dinners, but I wouldn't recommend them for little kids. It is a Westin restaurant, not WDW. The food is pretty good. This experience is good for pre-teens and teens especially if they are fans of the characters they have when you go (which change from time to time, I think). When we went last year, they had Rafiki and Timone, and my two DDs are huge Lion King fans, so we went. It's a buffet featuring sea food, but serving all kinds of meat and chicken as well. Great soups. A bit pricey, but not too bad. Fabulous wine list! The characters weren't out that much, but that was OK for us. Actually I think it was one person who came out one at a time in each costume.

Too bad about LTT - I guess the word is out that they won't have characters after Jan 09. So keep trying - it would be nice to see the characters in those costumes and that setting before they are gone. Here's hoping you get a cancellation!

Have a magical trip!

Donald's breakfast at Tuskerhouse was fantastic! I don't know how it is for lunch or dinner but the food was great and the characters were good. it was donald, mickey, goofy and daisy.

the biergarten was good for dinner. i have a 3 anda 4 year old and they loved the music and everyone dancing. the food for them was good. they ate grilled chicken and macaroni and cheese.

we ate at most of the other places you mentioned. plus, we mostly just ate lunch back at our hotel, but i heard crystal palace is fantastic for all meals........

I didn't think there was a regular buffet for H & V during breakfast and lunch, just the Play 'n Dine. When I saw H & V on her list I just assumed it was for Play 'n Dine!?! I ate there last year for lunch and I'm pretty sure the character meal was taking up the whole restaurant, but I could be wrong!?! Anyways, it is a great character meal with good character interaction - we're doing it again in Sept.!

As for the OPs question... where do you want your meal to be (which park)? I assumed you were looking for another offering in Epcot but are you open to suggestions from anywhere on property?

You are right. Breakfast and lunch at Hollywood and Vine is the Play 'n Dine....it is not in a seperate room.

To the OP....Garden Grill is still doing charcter meals for dinner if you really want to still be able to eat there. It is one of our favorites!

Thanks for clearing that up. The official Disney site is a bit confusing on the matter. To me at least. I haven't been to DHS since P'n'D started.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ is only open from spring to fall, don't think its open in Dec. If you want to do a dinner show, Hoop De Do is a can't miss. On the DDP you would still have plenty of sit down dinners left even if you burn 2pp for HDD.

The Disney site says this year every Thu and Sat from March through December, with some additional dates and some exception dates. That could always change, though, and sometimes the Disney site is wrong. You should still call first, but it sounds like it's running in December.

"Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a seasonal show that is offered on Thursdays and Saturdays from March through December. Additional shows are scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, Tuesday, September 2, Tuesday, September 9 and Tuesday, September 16. There will be no shows on Saturday, May 17 and Saturday, September 20."

All of your choices are great ... you will enjoy each.

I agree with the suggestion of Hoop-Dee-Doo Review. Great show for the family and wonderful food.

I would also recommend:

50's Prime Time Cafe @ DHS. Very fun atmosphere, great interaction from wait staff CM's, they are characters themselves. And the food can't be beat. They offer a lunch and dinner menu with great selectionson both.

For an EPCOT choice you might want to consider Restaurant Marakkesh (sp?/sorry) at the Morocco Pavillion. The food is great, lunch menu offers much the same as dinner but with a substantial savings. We always go for lunch, it has been a tradition for years and our kids love it. I'm not sure of the ages of yours, you mentioned "little kids", depending on their willingness to try things, you might want to check out a menu first. But I think there would be things they could eat. They do have a kids menu, and the child's spaghetti is great (my DD loves it, but has moved on to the actual Moraccon fair now). There is also a Belly-Dancer and a Morrocan band that entertains while you eat.

A note regarding LTT: we ate there for lunch last year (no characters, but great food). We did not have reservations, just walked up right at lunch time and got on the list, and it was Thanksgiving week. so if you are willing to eat without characters...and don't get a reservation before you go, there may still be hope. For lunch anyway, not sure about dinner.

50's Primetime is wonderful! You do need a good sense of humor though. My father-in-law didn't like the playful bossiness of the servers. We think it is super funny. Food is okay, not the best, but the atmosphere is well worth the visit!

50s Prime Time is fun, but when we were there the service was SLOW. We had to wait over 30 min with ADRs, and we had to wait over 20 min for dessert. We think another table in the same room got our dessert, even though they ordered after us. It happens. Our waiter ("Uncle Bill") gave us some story about Grandma having a little trouble with her arthritis, and she probably hurt her elbow trying to scoop out the ice cream, and that was funny at first, but then after about the third time we asked about how Grandma was doin' with our ice cream, it got a little old.

Other than that, though, we had fun. It was fun when another group was sat in our room and they didn't "get it", yet. we leaned over and whispered that they better set their places before "Uncle Bill" got back, otherwise they'd be in trouble. They looked at us like we were a little crazy, but they did it. Then Uncle Bill came back and said "oh, look at that, how nice - you did your chores without being asked! - now who told you to do that?" and the kids at the table sheepishly pointed over at us, so Uncle Bill came back and fooled around with us for a while, etc., etc. It was a riot.
