Trip Report A Honeymoon Trip Report - September 2019

If you haven’t read my previous Trip/Pre-Trip Reports, my name is Jasmyn (27), and this is my husband Dan (32).

416042

Our trip was from the 11th-22nd September 2019 – we traveled from Perth Australia (which is 11,375 miles from Orlando) for our honeymoon at WDW!
Hopefully it won’t take me forever to get through this. I’m writing it at work to help me get over my Disney blues.

DAY 1 – 11th September 2019
The first leg of our 3 flights was departing for Sydney at 5:15am.
We decided, because we would need to be up at 2am anyway, we would just pull an all-nighter. We spent the night finishing off our packing, that we hadn’t had a chance to do, playing with our little kittens who are both only 5 months old (and we were going to miss terribly) and hanging out with Dan’s little brother, Liam, who was going to be house/pet sitting for us.

Pulling an all-nighter didn’t work well for me, I ended up falling asleep for about an hour, before Dan woke up me up to get ready to leave.
We ordered an Uber (the first of MANY uber rides this trip) and left for the airport at 3:15am.
When we arrived at the airport, we started check in, and ran into one of my clients who was on the same flight. I have my own business doing Hair Extensions, and found out she was heading to NYC the same day, but didn’t realise she would be on 2/3 flights with us!

We boarded our flight at 5am, and were in the air by 5:30am. The flight was a little bumpy, but nothing that had us worried. We were off that flight, and heading to our international flight by 11:45am (Sydney Time). We were seated close to the back of the plane, in the centre row of 4 seats. Dan and I were next to an older couple. The flight time to Dallas (our next stop) was predicted to be 16hours.
This flight was terrible. Terrible food, bad turbulence, and just not a whole lot of legroom! I would finally doze off to sleep, and a drop from turbulence would wake me up. I was so anxious that I was almost in tears.
I couldn’t wait to get off the flight.
Dallas airport was huge, we quickly grabbed out bags and was trying to rush through customs/immigration as we only had a 2 hours layover. I got a nice big “X” through my paperwork. The guard thought he was hilarious and all he told me was “its because women are always wrong” and let us go with a smile.
416043

It was a random check for further screening, this wasn’t going to help our time frame for rushing to our connecting flight.

Off we went through Dallas security with our bags in tow. All was fine and we ran to re-check our bags and board our flight. We ran to the gate, as the guard was calling “Last Call for Orlando, if you don’t run you will be missing your flight”
We were the last couple to board. As we were finding our seats we got talking to another couple heading on their Honeymoon, but they were staying at the Polynesian Resort. Unlike us who cheaped out and were only staying at All Star Movies.

The 2.5 hour flight was much easier to deal with. We had seats directly behind business class, which meant a lot extra legroom. I slept for most of the flight, and before I knew it, we were starting our decent to Orlando.

Dan and I practically jumped out of our seats when we touched down. It was now 6.30pm (still on the 11th September… even after 28 hours travelling). The Magical Express was calling our names, so we grabbed our bags, put on our old magic bands from the previous trip, and skipped over to buses.
416046

We arrived at All Star Movies at 7.45pm. Check in was a breeze. We picked up our new magic bands and headed to our Room – 711 in the Toy Story Building. We had a preferred room. The room had a double bed, and a pull down bed, which didn’t get used. The room size was fine for us, and by the end of the trip you almost couldn’t see the floors with how much stuff we had bought. Oops.

When we got there we had a package waiting. I had ordered a bottle of Red Wine (the same we had at CRT on the night we got engaged last year) snacks, flute glasses and some chocolates to help celebrate our honeymoon and to surprise Dan. This was meant to be to have this first night, but we decided that staying in our room WAS NOT an option on our first night at Disney.
416048

While Dan was having a shower, and washing that horrible “plane” feeling off him, I checked for some last minute reservations. I was shocked when a ‘Ohana reservation for 9:15pm.
I quickly showered as soon as Dan was out, and let Dan know the plan.
By 8:30pm we were ready, and in as Uber, heading to the Polynesian Resort.
We had a quick look around, taking in the amazing entrance that the Poly has, and headed up to ‘Ohana around 9pm. We we’re still a little early, and there were 2 seats free at the bar at Tambu Lounge. We each ordered a cocktail, and while we were sipping, we couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces, despite how exhausted the last 30+ hours had been.
416047

416044

Our last name was called, and we were lead to our table right at 9.15pm. She rushed us through because the fireworks had already started at Magic Kingdom and we had a table with a view.
It was so magical. We weren’t seated at the closest table to the window, but still had a decent view while we ate the piles of food that kept coming to our table.
416045

My favourite dish was the grilled Prawns (or shrimp as we quickly learned). We had seconds, and thirds of everything. When it came to dessert, Dan and I both said “no thank you” as we were just too stuffed! The waiter didn’t listen. He came over with the ‘Ohana Bread Pudding a la mode. He said this is what people come to ‘Ohana for, and you aren’t missing out.
416049

WOW! I am so glad he at least made us try it. It was amazing, and one of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted!
I swear we almost rolled out of there with the amount of food we ate. I was so happy I was able to find a last minute reservation here.

416050

We wandered over to the Moana Mercantile shop inside the Polynesian, where Dan was able to find a cool Mickey Sweater. By this time it was almost 11pm, and now that we had a full stomach, the tiredness was really starting to creep up on us. Another Uber had us back at All Star Movies around 11:15pm and we headed into the gift shop to pick up our refillable mugs. I choose the Halloween one, and Dan choose a red Mickey Mouse Club House mug. We also got some bottles of water to have in the room, just in case 😊
The lights in our room by 11:30pm and sleep followed shortly after. I was so excited for our first day in the parks!

We left Oga’s Cantina before our time was up. We had finished our drinks, and we’re a little over the crazy crowded atmosphere. Andrew checked the Touring Plans Lines App and noticed that even though Smugglers Run was posted at 55mins, it was only actual wait time of 35 minutes. We headed straight there. The wait time was true, and within 35 minutes we were given our position cards, and heading into the Millennium Falcon. The boys both got to be pilots, and I was a gunner.

We had 2 guys in their early 40’s as engineers, with a young girl who was my other gunner, she was awesome and so much fun.

We really liked this ride. I normally get sick on simulator rides, but this one felt so real, I didn’t get sick at all.

423017

423018

423019

Once we were off the ride, we couldn’t stop raving about it. When Disney announced the opening of SW:GE 2 weeks before we arrived, we didn’t think we would even be able to see the land, let alone ride Smugglers Run, so this was a great addition to our trip. I am still surprised with how NOT BUSY it was.

We had a 6:35pm reservation at Mama Melrose. I was really looking forward to some yummy Italian food. While we were waiting for our name to be called, I popped next door and bought myself a Rose Gold Minnie Ears Christmas Tree Ornament. It was too cute not to get.

Andrew’s phone buzzed and we were escorted to our table, where we quickly snatched up the drinks menu and ordered our first round, along with Calamari and Meatlovers flat bread entrée’s. We didn’t take photos of our actual drinks or food, we were too excited to dig straight in. But Dan made sure to get a photo of the menu, so he could re-create this drink at home.

423020

I had 2 Antioxidant Lemonades (which were the same as they had at ‘Ohana, which I loved! Andrew stuck with beer.

I think Dan and I were enjoying being in “Holiday Mode” to much, because we loved being able to have a cocktail or two with our meals. We never really felt tipsy either, I think maybe because it was so hot, we were sweating the alcohol straight out of our system or smothering it with so many glasses of water.

Our entrée’s were amazing, and it wasn’t long before our main meals we’re headed to the table with our second round of drinks.
Dan always complains that he can’t make creamy pastas at home, because I don’t eat them, so of course that’s what he ordered here. A creamy chicken penne. He was very happy with his choice.
I ordered the Prawn Pasta (shrimp… sorry).
Andrew ordered the seafood marinara. All were well sized portions, and with the entrée’s it was to much food. We didn’t bother getting desserts, even though it was on our dinning plan.

We closed up our bills, and tipped the waiter, and rushed out as it was time for Fantasmic!
It was about 8pm when we left Mama Melrose, and when we finally got to the theatre, most of the seats were full. We missed out fastpass window, and got seated at the back of the theatre in the overflow seating. It wasn’t a great view at all.

423021

I’m glad we watched it once, and can say we have seen it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch it again. Dan was so tired he was falling asleep during it, and it was a nightmare to get out of once it was finished.

423022

It had been our first (almost) Rope Drop to Close day, and we were EXHAUSTED! We had no intention of hanging around with the crowds waiting for the buses to take us back, so the 3 of us jumped in an Uber back to All Star Movies.

I just want to start this post by saying: we call Appertizers "Entrees" in Australia. And Entree's we just call "Mains" so, if things dont sound quite right, thats why. I keep getting muddled up which I am meant to write 🤣 😂

DAY 4 – 14th September 2019

Today I tried to sleep in, which didn’t go exactly to plan, but it wasn’t a “before sunrise” wake up like the previous days. There was no rush to get to the parks today, as we had another VIP tour booked for tonight, and wanted to get as much rest in as possible.

We got up and out of the room around 9am, and headed down the food court. There I had my first ever MICKEY WAFFLE! For “food court” food, I was surprised how yummy the waffle was.

1573545912977.png

Dan had the omelette and potato gems.

1573545935105.png

We finished up around 9:45am and headed to the bus. Today was our first ANIMAL KINGDOM DAY!! Dan and I both love Animal Kingdom, and we excited to finally be there this trip.

We had a little wait for the bus, and we ended up getting to AK by about 10.45am. As soon as we were through the turnstiles, we saw Kevin coming out to greet everyone.

1573545956365.png

I couldn’t believe how lucky we are, she stopped to let us take photos with her. We had a good chat..

1573545981394.png

1573546000820.png

I love how vocal she is, she was my favourite character meet this whole trip, and it was completely by accident.

She wouldn’t keep her head still to get a photo with Dan.

1573546024757.png

We said our goodbyes to Kev, and rushed to our Expedition Everest fastpass, that was due to expire in 10 minutes.

1573546048316.png

Dan wasn’t happy with the choice of a tank top. It was way too hot and his shoulders were getting burnt, so he purchased a really cool “Beware Of The Yeti” shirt that he was eyeing off in the Everest gift shop.
On a side note, did you know it’s very cold at Mount Everest this time of year? We forgot to pack our coats and almost FROZE 😉

After Everest, we had a 11:25am Dinosaur fastpass, so we headed straight there. One side of the ride was down, so we got stuck for a longer than usual wait, in the corridor after the pre-ride movie. After about 20 minutes, we were heading back in time to try and get that Dinosaur..
I found the camera, Dan was genuinely surprised. Once he saw the photo he said “Yeah I forgot that thing jumps out at us!”

1573631988858.png

I was really struggling with a headache/motion sickness today, and it was already so hot, so Dan suggested we get some water and go see the next Nemo show. It was so nice to sit in the aircon, and it helped us tick another thing off our lists that we haven’t done on our 2 previous trips.

The Nemo show was great. We both had smiles on our faces throughout the whole show. I really liked that we can go an enjoy these shows at Disney, without having to have little kids with us. I thought this show would be for the small humans, but all ages can definitely enjoy it. I guess it is all about the mindset you have 😊

It was around lunch time now, and both of us were starting to get hungry, but we didn’t have any dining reservations made. Luckily I became a Landry Member before going on this trip, this meant we could walk into Yak and Yeti without a reservation, and be seated as a priority. We only had a very short 10 minute wait in the lobby. The only customers that got ahead of us were other Landry Members that had already checked in. We heard others being turned away saying there was a 80 minute stand by wait for non-members/reservation holders.

Once our food and drink orders were placed, the manager came out to talk to us. She sat talking to us for about 5-10 minutes while we waited for our appetizers. She thanked us for being Landry Members and was telling us cool facts about this restaurant and Disney World. She was so lovely and really enhanced the experience for us.

One of our favourite food items from last visit was the Firecracker Shrimp appetiser. That was a MUST order again for us, and as soon as it hit the table, we pretty much inhaled it.

1573632157073.png

Drinks were delicious, as expected.

1573632203756.png

Dan: “Jas, why do you always do that dumb face when you get a drink photo taken?”
Jas: “What face?!?”

Dan:

1573632233087.png

Once he was done teasing, he was just being annoying…

1573632260296.png

Our mains we’re brought to the table, along with our second cocktails of the day.

I had the taco’s. I was very disappointed in them. Too much BBQ sauce (but not like the BBQ I get at home haha), too much cheese. It just wasn’t flavours that went together well for me. I only ate 1 and decided that was enough for me. I made sure I ate all my chips (fries) though, they were perfect!

1573632302000.png

Dan had Ramen, which he was craving, and said it definitely hit the spot.

1573632323355.png

The sugar from my drinks, and having some more food in my stomach, made me feel so much better. I was starting to get over my sickness, and I was ready to tackle more rides.

We headed out of Yak and Yeti, and found our way in Pandora where Andrew was waiting for us at Flight of Passage. But before we got there, we spotted Kevin again, and Dan insisted I take better photos this time…

I'm not only enjoying your trip report, I didn't know about the priority seating with the Landry card (and I have one)!
Learn something new every day. I'm going to make sure I bring it along with us when we go next week!

Sorry its taking me so long. Its probably going to take me even longer too because I need the rest of Dan's photos off his phone! Hopefully I can do that this weekend and I can get stuck back into my report.

And another photopass stop on our way to Pandora.

1574234004315.png

Finally we made it to Flight of Passage at 2:15pm, where Andrew was patiently waiting for us. We jumped straight into the fastpass line and scanned our magic bands. I don’t think I would ever be able to wait in the standby queue for this. Apparently its an amazing and immersive line, but I couldn’t wait 90+ minutes to ride it. I was happy with my 15 minute wait.

Every time I ride this, I notice something I didn’t before, or I smell something new. It was one of the best rides on property. The only thing that could make it better for me, was if it wasn’t 3D. Because if I’m not sitting exactly front on, it has a slight blurr and makes me feel a little light headed. It’s still worth it.

Another goodbye was said to Andrew, as he headed off to check into his second hotel of the trip, Grand Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Resort. The two of us stayed in Pandora and got ourselves a slushie from Pongu Pongu and enjoyed the sights around us.

Pandora is so beautiful.

1574234103888.png

I was all perked up again after my sugary drink (this is the theme of the holiday I swear, Jasmyn feels sick or tired, just give her sugar)

We spent about an hour enjoying the scenery and taking it a little slower. We had a super busy afternoon in store for us!

Tonight we we’re doing the Ultimate Nights of Adventure Tour at Animal Kingdom. Check in was at 4pm, across from Creature Comforts (Starbucks).
Dan was fading and thought an Iced Coffee was the way to help him through, so we waited in line for him to get his energy refill, we headed over to where 2 guides were waiting for us. Kyler and Colby. Colby was actually our tour administrator for the Ultimate Day of Thrills tour the day before, and recognised us instantly.

“Hey, you’re the two Australians, we’ve been trying to call you to make sure you were still coming!”
We weren’t even late yet, but apparently everyone else was there already, oops!

The group was about the same size as the day before. There was Fred and his son Fred Jr. They were visiting from Mexico for Fred Jrs birthday! Both lovely people and we really enjoyed chatting too them during the trip. Fred Jr became my little buddy. A family of 5. From the south (don’t ask me what state, I just remember the accents) and their 3 kids we’re the most polite kids I have ever met. They kept saying “Yes Ma’am” whenever I asked if they were having fun etc. And an older couple (and I feel terrible for not remembering their names.) Everyone was great fun to be with on the tour.

After all the introductions were complete, the boys took us to our first attraction of the evening – Kilimanjaro Safari’s.
I made sure Dan had his phone out to take all the photos, so I could just enjoy myself :p

It was a much bumpier ride the normal, the driver was very heavy on the brake and sent a few of us flying, multiple times.

Our guides explained to Dan and I, that this is where they had both started working in WDW, while on the college program. Both started as safari driver’s and are now working together in the Tours section.

It really was a “fast-paced walking tour” as the website described it. As soon as we were finished on the safari, the boys led us straight to Pandora, and onto Na’vi River Journey.

This ride has such beautiful things to see. I love all the illumination throughout the ride. I know a lot of people think its boring, but as far as family friendly slow moving rides go, I think it’s excellent.

I didn’t have steady hands to get a good photo.

1574830405336.png

We came off the river ride, and headed back to Flight of Passage for the second time today, and again, straight through the fastpass line!

The Pandora rides were complete, but our time in the land was not. It was just after 6pm, and it was time for our included “snack” break.
Snack turned out to be a massive share plate for the table, of all the offerings that Satu’li Canteen had. I wish I had taken a photo of the amazing spread they put on for us.
They had tofu, beef, chicken and prawns as the proteins, with sides of rice & bean mix, noodles, salad and roast veggies. They also had a selection of different sauces.
We then got to choose a dessert. I got the Blueberry Cheesecake, and Dan choose the Chocolate Cake.

1574830451788.png

We were both happy with our choices – and I wish I could have it now I am back home. This cheesecake has left a whole in my heart that can’t be filled any other way.

After our amazing feast, we were off again for the last 2 rides of the evening. We were all walking a little slower now that our bellies were so full.

Back to Dinoland, after already visiting earlier in the day. Luckily for us, the other side of the Dinosaur ride was back up and running, and we didn’t have a long wait. Our guides gave us some fun facts about this ride while we had the short wait. Did you know that written on the Red White and Yellow pipes are the chemical combinations for Ketchup, Mayonnaise and Mustard, because McDonalds sponsored the ride from 1998-2008? I thought this was pretty cool.
The ride was great. I love checking out the photos that come onto the app. Especially this ride. Everyone’s faces are always so funny!

1574830538005.png

Another slowish walk back to where we started our day – Expedition Everest!
Young Fred Jr was paranoid of this rollercoaster. He opted to hang out in the gift shop while we all rode. We tried and tried to convince him that he would be fine, but nothing worked.

His dad enjoyed the ride alone – sitting behind us.
The 2 girls in front, not apart of our tour, do not look happy at all.

1574830574119.png

The last thing on our tour was priority seating to Rivers Of Light. It was way to early for that, we had stormed through our tour and finished a lot earlier than expected. Luckily for us, it meant we got to ride Everest again!

This was an awesome surprise, and Fred Jr decided he would join us this time! We all made a huge deal out of him, and the whole line he was standing there saying “My heart is racing, I am so scared, are you sure it doesn’t go upside down?”
We reassured him there was NO loops, and up the mountain we went!

1574830625241.png

I cant believe he didn’t even hold on for the drop. I was so impressed. He came off saying he loved it, and thanked us over and over again for making him ride it.

By now it was time to wander over to RoL for the show. We had seating to ourselves in a great spot. We all sat chatting and getting to know everyone a little better. We made sure we got a photo together before we sat down. The guides took it for us, after taking some selfies first!

1574830655613.png

1574830677899.png

By the time River’s of Light started, I was exhausted, and could have fallen asleep. I was enjoying the show, but Dan saw I was starting to struggle and suggested we skip out before the end and miss the crowds. This didn’t really work, there was still a ton of people heading to the exit.

We jumped in an Uber at exactly 8:48pm.

DAY 5 – 15th September 2019

It was Sunday morning, and like every other day I woke with the Florida sun. While Dan got all the sleep he could, I took our washing and went and put a load of laundry on. It was around 7am, the perfect time back home to call mum again. I sat in the laundry room alone, telling mum all about my days here since we last spoke. The laundry still had some time left when mum and I finished our call, so I wandered back to the room to have a shower and see if Dan was up. By the time I was out and dressed, he was away and decided it was time to start his day too.

I wandered back to the laundry room while he was getting ready to pop it all in the dryers, then waited for him at the food court.
He wasn’t far behind me, and we ordered and ate our breakfast. We finished up about 9.30am, dropped our now clean clothes back to the room, and ordered an uber to the outlet stores. This morning we were visiting the Character Warehouse!

We arrived about 10 minutes before they opened, and when we got to the Disney Warehouse, we couldn’t believe how busy it was!'

1575619378752.png

This line wrapped back behind the yellow part of the building and then back again. We got in the end of the line and waited in the hot sun for around 40 minutes, just to get inside! It was one of the longest waits of the whole trip.

When inside, we spent about 45 minutes total in there, most of that time was spent in line to pay for our items! I bought our nieces and friends 12 pairs of different Minnie ears, for an absolute steal. I got Christmas ornaments, magnets, stickers, a Pandora charm, Dan bought a watch, we both bought shirts, and I am sure there was more stuff as well.. the total? $140!!!! I was gobsmacked!!

Even though we had super long waits, I am so grateful we took the morning off to go. It was about 11:30am when we finished up at the Character Warehouse. We were already over shopping, and the heat, so we decided to head back to the hotel. On the way out, Dan saw a “Lucky Brand” shop. We don’t have these back home, and he loves it. We stopped in there and he bought another “ugly” cardigan. He purchased one on our last America trip, in LA and its been his favourite sweater ever since.

While Dan was trying on clothes, I scored a 1:45pm booking a Kona Café. We finished up at the outlet and headed back to the resort to get ready for our afternoon. We had a party to go to!

1575619606263.png

Coming back onto WDW property.

Tonight was our turn for the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
I dressed up as Ariel, Dan had a cool Buzz Lightyear shirt.
Before we left, Dan got a photo with his mate.

1575619638200.png

We Ubered over to the Polynesian Resort, and headed straight to Kona Café. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time, but were seated instantly. We met our waitress, who was lovely, but extremely slow. Especially considering there was only a few other tables with guests at them.

We ordered some drinks, mine came out wrong, I don’t know what she brought me but it definitely wasn’t what I ordered, so I sent it back.
The second drink I ordered was amazing – it tasted like summer!

1575619704669.png

We asked what we were able to swap our dessert for, as we didn’t feel like anything sweet this meal. She advised we could swap it for the Seafood Coconut-Curry Soup, which we both opted for. It was delicious, and definitely recommend it. I didn’t think I’d be a fan because I don’t really like coconut, but it was beautiful, and I would order it again.

1575619772622.png

For our main meals we both ordered sushi. I had the Firecracker Shrimp topped with Tuna. I don’t like raw tuna, so Dan was over the moon to be able to eat that for me.
Dan had the rainbow roll and said it was really enjoyable.

1575619795353.png

1575619816579.png

I would definitely give this place another try, I would just hope that the service is a little better. Everything took longer to come than needed, the waitress wasn’t very attentive at all, and was just all round slow. We just felt like an inconvenience.

We still had time to kill before the party started, so we went downstairs to Trader Sam’s to check it out before we headed over. Unfortunately the inside Tiki Bar was completely packed and they were taking any more guest, so we sat on the deck.
Dan ordered a cocktail – I just had water 😊

1575620354322.png

1575620372867.png

While we were inside having lunch, there must have been a storm, everything was wet and our 7DMT for 3.30pm had already changed to a multi experience fastpass.

Dan finished his drink and we jumped on the monorail to the party and we were arriving at MK by 4:45pm. We took in the Halloween sights and heading into Town Square Theatre, to wish a very special mouse, a very belated happy birthday!

We weren’t in any rush and thought this time we would use our multi fastpass to meet Ariel!
I had a very serious conversation with her about shells, and I complimented her top.

Out the front of Ariel's Grotto.

It was so sunny, I was struggling to keep my eyes open!

We had one last FP before the party “officially” started at 7pm. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
BTMRR is always so much fun.

We headed to Liberty Square for one of my favourite attractions, THE HAUNTED MANSION! The Muppets we’re out, teaching us a little about America History.

We watched for 10 or so minutes, before Dan spotted something he just NEEDED to try….

1579835043080.png

And the almost instant regret as he realises it doesn’t taste as good as he had hoped!

1579835075426.png

He refused to throw it out, and tried to get me to have some, but there was no way I was eating a turkey leg. It did not look appealing at all. He eventually made himself sick and threw it out about ¾ of the way through.

It went to the bin, and we walked across the street to HM. Just as we stepped into line, the heavens opened and the rain came POURING DOWN. It came from nowhere, we definitely weren’t expecting it.
Luckily the Haunted Mansions line is almost completely covered, we didn’t get to wet. Once the storm started, everyone had the same idea to get in line for HM. The wait went from 15 mins to 40 mins almost instantly.

We met these super cute kids in line, with possibly the BEST outfits.

We headed into the stretching room, and Dan screamed when the lights went off. This high pitched screak that had all the little kids around us scared (and even most adults were caught off guard) and we lost it laughing.

We had a little longer wait once we were out of the stretching room, the ride was having issues, so it was a little backed up with people. We waited about 10 minutes in there, then everything was back up and running, and we were on!

By the time we were off the ride, the rain had stopped. There was a photopass photographer outside of the mansion so obviously we had to get photos. It wasn’t a very flattering angle.

We had a slow walk around MK after this. The party was getting ready to officially start, and we were able to collect Candy (aka LOLLIES in Australia 😊). We quickly went and bought ourselves a bigger bag each, the reusable Magic Kingdom ones they sell everywhere, so we had much more room for all the good stuff.

Before we knew it, we were back on the opposite side of Cinderella’s Castle, and decided to visit the Hundred Acre Woods. We collected more candy too when we exited the ride and watched guests get photos with the gang in there Halloween party outfits.
We weren’t into waiting to meet them, the line was so long, but it was really cute to see from a distance.

I forced Dan onto the teacups. A ride we have never done, and that Dan had no intention of riding. He didn’t want to come off sick. Of course I forced him on, and he spent the whole ride trying to spin it faster… go figure.

Another short stroll and we went back to visit Princess Ariel and Prince Eric, but this time we went Under The Sea to see their story. I love this ride. Its so cute, and I find something new to look at each time.
When we came out, the sun was setting and we saw Ariel (with her legs) and Eric meeting together, just across the path. The line was INSANE. I convinced Dan that we NEEDED to wait, or I might die. The line was moving pretty slow, and we waited about 20 minutes before the cast member told everyone they were going for their break and wont be back for 30 minutes.

By this time it was just after 8pm, I was hungry, and getting snappy, so we cut our losses and scrolled the My Disney Experience app to decide what quick service we felt like eating for dinner.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn. It’s a place I had heard of on some Disneyworld facebook groups and it seemed like an awesome place to try. We got there about 8:15pm and it was extremely crowded. I went to hunt for a table while Dan ordered our food.

I had the Nachos and got to add all my own topping from the bar. Delicious! The toppings bar was looking very sad, and extremely messy, which I think was due to the amount of people and small kids helping themselves. All in all was a really good meal. Dan wasn’t overly fussed with it, but was glad I got to try a place that was on my list 😊

We didn’t realise where we had ended up. Right outside of Pecos was the start of the parade route. We were aiming to watch the second parade as we had heard that has less people at it. But because of how perfectly the night at lined up, we stayed and had spots right at the front, at the very start of the parade!

Right on queue at 9pm sharp, Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Party Parade started, without the headless horseman. I was devastated, but it was still too wet from the earlier downpour that it just wasn’t safe.

There were some small kids in front of us standing on the rope, and a family came and stood on the other side of the ropes (where you are not allowed) and blocked everyones view. They were extremely rude and wouldn’t listen to any other guests asking them to move. The dad seemed to be a bit of a hero and thought he was more entitled than others that had been waiting for awhile. Lucky the cast members moved him along right when the parade was starting.

The parade absolutely blew my mind!

These were the only two photos we took because we were too wrapped up in the magic. I have been singing the Boo-To-You song ever since we got home. It randomly pops back into my head and makes me smile.

Because we were at the very start of the parade route, as soon as it was passed us we ran to Big Thunder. It was a walk on. Then straight to Splash Mountain which was also a walk on. Dan filmed the whole ride. I was paranoid he was going to drop his phone into the water, or it would get to wet from the splash!

We walked off Splash, not as wet as we had expected, and headed over to Main Street, with only minutes to spare before the fireworks started at 10:15pm.

Dan wanted to watch the show from closer to the Hub, not the other end of Main St like we have in the past. He wanted it to feel a little darker, without all the light pollution spilling out the shops either side of us. We settle on a nice spot in the middle of the road, right near Casey’s Corner. It was the perfect spot for the projections and fireworks, but we couldn’t really see Jack Skellington on stage. I didn’t think these fireworks were as good as the regular Happily Ever After, but they were still a great addition to the party, and a welcome change.

Next up was the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular! It was on straight after the fireworks at 10:45pm. As everyone dispersed back into the other lands of the theme park, we headed in closer, and found a spot to sit on the fence next to the partners statue. Lucky we moved closer as we wouldn’t have been able to see them all on stage from where we were!
This show ended up being way more than I expected. I absolutely loved it. Dan wasn’t over moved by it, but he also isn’t a fan of the Hocus Pocus movie either.

It was now 11pm, and we were getting tired, but still didn’t want to turn in just yet. We checked the wait times and decided to do one last ride before heading back to the hotel, PIRATES!

While walking to Adventureland, we spotted Jafar with only a few people hanging around. We stopped and got photos! They said he was finishing up for the night with photos, because he had to get to the next parade, luckily we got there in time and were the last ones to get photos with him.

We only had about a 5 minute wait for pirates, and it was only because we stopped to see the actor. It was cool to see the few live actors that were in the line and in the ride. I feel it would be ridiculously tiring to do that job, but also so much fun!

1579836253599.png

It was nice to go on an attraction that had a slight difference that was strictly for the party. I wish we got a change to ride Space Mountain in the dark, but the line didn’t drop below 60 minutes all night, and we didn’t feel like waiting that long and missing out on all the other aspects of the party!

When we exited Pirates, the cast member hanging out candy gave us some “hidden treasures” and made us swear not to tell anyone she “shared the loot”.

I was struggling to keep my eyes open, it had been a long day, and it was time to get out of Magic Kingdom, and back to our hotel room.

The final parade for the evening was still going when we tried to leave at 11:45pm, which made it hard to cross the path to the exit, we had to wait for a break and run!

When we got outside of the gates, the lines for the buses were way to long for our tired bodies to wait for, I suggested we walk to the Contemporary and get an Uber from there. Much better idea. We walked through the door around 12:15am.

One of my favourite things about this trip, was being in America while there were halloween decorations everywhere!
We don't celebrate it much in Australia. Sometimes families will dress their kids up and walk around the block, but its few and far between, and no one ever remembers its halloween to stock any lollies for them.
I tried to get a good photo of the sign as we were walking out of the party.

If I can ever convince Dan to go to WDW again, I hope its during Halloween!
