A History of Frozen

I stumbled upon this and found it very interesting. I knew that Disney Animation had looked at the story before, but I was unaware of many of this trivia.

Enjoy!

One of the biggest surprises was that Marc Davis wanted to make a Snow Queen ride.

Looks pretty awesome. The ride, I mean. You know, there is just something appealing about the idea of a ride based on ice and snow existing in tropical place like Florida. I guess that was the idea behind Blizzard Beach.

I certainly find it "arguable" that "Frozen" is the best animated Disney film of all time. No. Freaking. Way. As for it being the most financially successful, I think when inflation is taken into account, "Snow White" still rules.

The eventual success of "Frozen" reminds me of the success of "The Little Mermaid". That movie also initially faltered at the box office, leading a newspaper to brand it "an underwater underachiever". But word-of-mouth got out about it, and the rest is history.

As for "The Rescuers Down Under" being better than "The Rescuers"...I disagree. "The Rescuers" had much more heart, and a superior villain. Plus, the sequel flopped at the box office...although that was mostly due to its competition...a little movie known as "Home Alone"... ;)

Um, Frozen never faltered at the box office. It had a solid opening weekend and decent holds until Christmas and word-of-mouth happened and then it's performance became stellar.

I misspoke. I meant to say that Frozen's WOM was what propelled it into the phenomenon it is today, much like WOM raised Mermaid from an underwhelming first weekend into a bona fide hit.
