Pre-Trip A Grand Sweet 16 PTR May 2014!

Hey everyone! This is my second PTR. I did my last one for the All-Nighter trip I took with my mom. We've been back to the World twice since then and we're ready for another round! So let's get started!

A Little Background Information First: My mom and I are super-duper Disney fanatics. This will be her 12th trip and my 11th trip, 7 of those have been in the past 5 years! You can see a better breakdown of our trips in my signature. Anyway, ever since I was like 12 I've wanted to go down to the Utilidors (it's my dream to work for Disney, hence my username: "ImagineerDude"), but you have to be 16 years old to do so. We planned (well, I planned) since then to go over my 16th birthday, May 2nd. It was just going to be my mom and I. Back then, we never would've thought my dad and sister would let us go by without them...but last year I got a fortunate surprise at Outback one night...I was going to Disney World for 24-hours (the All-Nighter)...and just my mom and I! Well, since then my grandma decided she wants to go as well. She isn't as big a Disney freak as we are, but she loves spending time with us and she will be in heaven when she sees the Flower and Garden Festival for the first time! So we've been booked for about a month and I just made my FP+ selections at midnight and I'm getting more and more excited each day!

The Cast:
  • The Mom: a middle aged teacher that definitely "rocks her Disney side" whenever she can. She tries to stump me with her Disney trivia, but she never does  This will be her 12th trip (she went as a kid in the 80's once) and she too is way too excited for her 3rd trip to Disney in less than a year!
  • The Grandma: a hip, cool grandma that will do just about anything for her grandkids (except stay at the Grand Floridian, but I'll get to that later). Let's just say she is THE Dairy Queen. (inside joke) ;) We were worried (my mom and I) that she didn't want to go at first, but she isn't as familiar with the way Disney works nowadays and couldn't understand why we were booking in January if the trip wasn't until May! But she gets more and more excited everytime we talk about it. Her favorite movie is Snow White and her favorite character is Dopey, so hopefully we see him!
  • The Birthday Boy: a high-school student that would much rather skips sports and school to go to Disney World! He says, "I'd rather Disney be my birthday present rather than a car!" He has dreamed about this vacation and can't believe that dream is finally coming true! This is his 11th trip to the World. He takes care of all things My Magic+ (Fastpasses, dining, online check-in) as long as he has a credit card :greedy:
When?
  • Thursday May 1st - Monday May 5th, 2014
Where?
  • From the title, you may assume we are staying at the Grand Floridian (my dream). Unfortunately, the birthday boy couldn't talk grandma and mom into it...they could see anything but the price of it, which wasn't cheap.
  • All-Star Movies (preferred room) was originally what we had booked. We have only stayed in values and to cope with this situation, I decided that I would stay at all the values, then the moderates, then the deluxes in order...cuz I'm kinda OCD like that. We booked with the spring discount.
  • Then we saw the Memory Maker package deal. Long story short, we ended up booking a standard room at Caribbean Beach. We basically upgraded our resort for the price of a memory maker.
  • I'm nervous about the busses at Caribbean Beach, but I'm still just as excited!
Why?
  • I don't think this is necessary to add at this point but here goes anyway...We are going on this trip to 1.) Celebrate my birthday and 2.) Do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour

so there you have it! Next up I'll post some pictures from our previous trip(s) and talk about our dining ressies that I cannot believe we got this "close" to the trip!!
