A general Florida question!

Hopefully someone here will be able to answer this.....
Again this year we are renting a villa. The pool area is screened with the black coloured mesh stuff, that you see at most houses (hope you get what I mean!). Does anyone know if this blocks out any of the UV etc rays, or is it no different to being outside? I always end up sticking a load of suncream on my little girl, even if just out for a short time by the pool - but as she has sensitive skin, if I don't need to (obviously only if out for not long) would be fab. I hope that makes sense!!!!

She'll definitely need sunscreen. I burn easily too (thanks to my Mom's Irish blood), and I have to use it even just for eating breakfast out there on the lanai.

Those rental homes are awesome though - have a great vacation!

Yep...as others said...need the sunscreen. I'd look into the spray stuff...they have it now where you can spray your kiddo down and it's not sticky and nasty like the cream based versions. Worked great for us last vaca.

Have a great trip!

Yep I can confirm. The UV protection from a screened enclosure is just barely above zero.

Neutrogena has a great line of spray, water proof sunscreens that go on very easy and do not feel like you have rolled around in Crisco. They also have a number that can be put on wet skin which is essential for those longer days at the pool where you will need to reapply.

The wet skin SPF 70 got my daughter through 6 weeks of summer camp at the beach her in North Florida without a single sunburn.

Thanks everyone. In previous years she has always been plastered in suncream (I do swear by the spray on stuff too), but was just curious about the screen. So now I know!!!!!
Must admit though, am looking forward to getting a bit of sun myself - in the UK the summer lasted a whole week I think
