Pre-Trip A first, a second, and a third

Hello friends! Thanks for joining me for another PTR adventure! If you don't know me, I'm Bee, an ex-Floridian now living just outside NYC with my amazing wife, M. Since 2013-2014, we have been Annual Passholders every other year and this happens to be an on-year! M's parents and brother still live in Florida so we visit them (and the Mouse) pretty frequently for holidays and such, and sometimes they join us at Disney. Here are the plans for our next trip, which is approaching fast.

DATES
February 21-26, 2018

TRAVEL
Southwest (of course) and DME

LODGING
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort-with a fantastic Disney Visa discount!

CAST
Bee (me), 29, opera singer/music teacher, the primary planner
M (DW), 28, writer/academic administrator
MIL, M's mom, perhaps more obsessed with Disney than I am
FIL, M's dad, likes Disney but not quite obsessed

Possible player: M's cousin (calling her C because her name also begins with M). Lives in the Midwest near M's grandpa and other extended family, but happens to be vacationing in Florida at the same time we'll be there

M and I will be running the Princess 5K on Friday morning and M's parents are planning to come cheer us on at the finish line. Which brings me to the meaning of the title...

First: M's first 5K
Second: My second 5K
Third: Our third stay at Coronado Springs together

I'll post more day-by-day details as I have time. I'm currently teaching seven days a week through mid-February so I will NEED this vacation!

About training...

I ran my first 5K in May of last year. M didn't run with me because one of our best friends was visiting for the last time before moving overseas for three years, so we didn't want to both abandon her.

I started training for said 5K casually in October 2016, using a combination of apps including C25K and MapMyRun. I got more serious about training in January and by the time early May came around I was feeling confident. Then the race day came and it was raining. I had mostly trained in dry weather and I was afraid I would fall, and I psyched myself out and ran much slower than I wanted to (and knew I was able to!).

This time around M and I are training together and keeping each other motivated! Whenever one of us wants to make an excuse not to go out the other is there to make us go! We are running in sunshine, rain, and varying temperatures. We are running uphill, downhill, on roads, on sidewalks, on grass, on whatever is around that we can safely run on. This time we will be ready! We know we're not the fastest and we won't win anything, but we at least want to do our very best! :joyfull:

That's great that you've trained in all sorts of weather; I was like you and mostly trained in dry weather when I started running and luckily someone in the running threads here pointed out that you can't control the weather on race day. Consequently I was well prepared for the cold weather during Marathon weekend because I had been forcing myself to train outside when I really wanted to go back to the treadmill. Now I can say I'm like Elsa :joyfull:. And last year I ran a 10 km in pouring rain for a portion, so I was glad then too that I'd done some training runs in rain.

The bad news: M and I are both battling colds.
The good news: She stayed home from work today and I don't have to work until this afternoon, SO we actually had a moment together to look at our plans!

We decided to cancel the Celebration at the Top reservation for Saturday night. With tax and gratuity it works out to almost $250 for both of us and we just can't see ourselves eating and drinking enough to make that worthwhile. So, we are keeping the CG reservation for Sunday night and will enjoy great food (of our choosing!) along with fantastic views of HEA.

Good decision, @bee!

We had a great 5.5K run around the neighborhood tonight! We made our goal time for the 5K even though we did the extra .5. Now it’s time to stay strong and perhaps push ourselves juuuuuust a little further. :)

But don't forget to taper back on your training and distances in about a week's time - you want to give your muscles time to recover and be ready for your race.

Today we are three weeks away from vacation!!!

Today is also day 18 of a 27-day stretch with no days off for me. I normally teach at my school Monday-Thursday, teach private students on Sunday and Friday, and I have a job as a soloist at a church Sunday mornings. The Saturday teacher at my school is away directing a show and asked me to fill in for her a few weeks. It sounded like a good idea at the time, and the extra money is nice, but boy am I ready for this to be over!

I gave you the like for the 3 weeks from vacation, not for the 27 day stretch of work with no break. Ugh for that.

So the in-laws AND M's cousin have made their plans and will officially be joining us for part of our trip! Updated plans:

Wednesday: Same as before. Travel, check in, Epcot, La Hacienda, IllumiNations.
Thursday: Mostly same as before. Epcot day with FPs. MIL, FIL, and C arrive evening. M and I will go to bed early so we might not see them depending on their arrival time. We're thinking about trying Maya Grill for an early dinner but haven't made a reservation yet.
Friday: Race day! MIL, FIL, and C are going to get up early and cheer us on at the finish line! We have no FPs or plans of any kind but depending on how we feel we'll at least spend part of the day with family. M and I are having a celebratory dinner at Jiko.
Saturday: Everyone is going to MK! I was able to add the parents to our MK FPs and I'm hoping I can add C to the plans as well! M and I are now having dinner at Kona Cafe. Parents and cousin depart WDW in the evening.
Sunday: Just M and me. Epcot day with FPs, and dinner at California Grill.
Monday: Tragical Day

MIL and FIL will be driving from Jacksonville and picking up C on the way (I think she's staying with a friend in/near St. Augustine). They are staying offsite because they couldn't find a reasonably-priced room onsite this late in the game, but they'll have a car and the parents have APs so they will at least be able to park at the parks for free. They have some comp day tickets for C to use so I am trying to get them to register the tickets and add her to our friends and family list sooner rather than later.

Our new MagicBands were allegedly delivered on Saturday, we checked in our mailbox, in the package mailboxes, all over the lobby...and they were nowhere to be found. We've been having issues with USPS ever since we moved in so I can't say I'm surprised. Today I called Disney and the CM deleted those bands from my account and they're sending new ones, this time to M's work address since USPS cannot figure out how to deliver things to our building.

Since I was on the phone with Disney I also requested a refurbished room at CSR. Fingers crossed!

M picked up these beauties at Target for 5% off with our Redcard! We may buy more and pay off the entire resort balance with them. Target now sells gift cards online with email delivery, FYI! https://www.target.com/p/disney-gift-card-email-delivery/-/A-52960548#lnk=sametab&preselect=52804481

MIL figured out how to add M's cousin to her friends and family and I was able to add her to my list as well. Between the two of us we managed to get her ticket linked and get her on our FPs. :)

16 days!!!

@bee I've been thinking of you the last few days. My daughter and I are in Chicago and she's auditioning for Unifieds. I asked my daughter why she couldn't pick an easier profession. It 's so stressful. Sorry to high jack your thread. If anyone could understand I thought you could.

I am happy that you're going back soon, I love your reports!!

Hijack away! Talk of this crazy performer life is always welcome in my TRs! Have fun in Chicago and tell your daughter break a leg (if she won’t be too weirded out by a forum friend wishing her well that is)!

Thank you!! She loves Disney as much as singing so it wouldn't be weird to her at all!!

She is done with the singing for today but she has a dance call in an hour. AHhhhh. Then tomorrow she has four more schools to sing for, then we can breathe and head home.

Two weeks! Twoooo weeeeeeeeeeks!!!

M bought some more Disney gift cards with the Redcard discount and we paid off the hotel reservation yesterday! Woohoo!

The NEW box of MagicBands is supposed to arrive at M's office tomorrow.

Training is going well and we're consistently making our goal pace.

I CANNOT wait to stay at Coronado again!

YEA!!! Having your hotel paid off has to be a great feeling! I can't wait to hear about your run and trip when you get back.

We are breathing again. It was very stressful for me watching her go through the process of all the auditions but she came out smiling on all of them and was very happy with her singing. She sang a song from the musical Carousel and a song from Amelie. Enough about us.

TWO WEEKS!!!!

Twelve more days! The MagicBand box is somewhere within the mail system of M's school so hopefully she'll get them today! delivered!!!

We decided on these shirts for the race itself:

There are no rules about which princesses are included, right? ;)

Between my Disney account and M's Disney account we managed to get two lunch reservations (for 3 people total) for BOG for our MK day within five minutes of each other. We're hoping M's cousin will want to eat there as she's never been before. Hopefully the parents aren't offended if we can't get them a reservation as well.
