A farewell to Remember... Dreams Come True...and its resurrection

Production value aside, I prefer Magical to Disneyland Forever as a generic Disney fireworks show. I think it flows nicer than DLF or Remember, for that matter. Of course, it's on a smaller scale, so it feels more like a successor to the "Believe" shows than a successor to the big anniversary shows.

Seems like a missed opportunity to add projections to main street facades as well.

I found the Main Street projections to be distracting in DL Forever. I was standing where at the end of Main Street, between the photo shop and coke corner and had to keep looking back to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

I can see it being distracting there, but we watched it from the other end of main street, and they were a fantastic addition to the show!

The thing I love about the projections and other show elements in DL Forever is that they make the experience different every time you see it, depending on where you watch the show. We watched it from ROA once where they activate the Fanasmic water projections and it was a completely different experience.

Yeah, there is a no mans land for the projections where you can't see the castle or MSUSA but I think that projections would look amazing. As I said before, the DLRR roaring down Main Street, atom mobiles, a pirate battle, the electrical parade floats. I think it just adds significantly to the large number of folks actually on main street.

It's different there for sure, but I found it to be a lesser experience than viewing it on Main Street, the hub, or in Front of Small World.

Just in case you all were looking for a recreation of the current show soundtrack! It includes everything from the pre-show announcement (though that announcement is from when the show was presented by Honda which it isn't anymore), to the full show with the Big Thunder/shooting gallery section edited out, and then both afterglow (post-show) tracks.

Time to make this thread relevant again.

They've made some additions since last post here. New alternate show, similar to the Disneyland Forever backups. A bit longer, since they're using both the intro and outro; but I love how they use the skylights more. In fact, why don't they program that formation for the regular shows?

In addition, as the Rivers of America prepare to re-open, the projection mist screens are back on. And compared to Disneyland Forever, these projections (as far as content) are noticeably better. I can appreciate a little extra Pinocchio.

EDIT: It turns out the finale montage is spot on in both places (look carefully past the trees on the castle). Still, a better finale montage than what Forever was.

Farewell to an amazing show! If you haven't already, make sure you check out this presentation by Steve Davison when the 50th festivities were announced. It's worth a watch to see him act out different scenes from the show :D

Completely in love with this.

Really smart. THis show isn't going anywhere any time soon, nor should it. But they wouldn't go through the trouble if it wasn't going to stay. Really happy about this :). We have fantasmic and world of color as the contemporary disney media montages, we can keep this as the disneyland-content show; we don't need another [disneyland forever].

But apparently most people loved Disneyland Forever and it was only discontinued because it cost too much money.

Nobody I ever visited with enjoyed it that much. They actually couldn't believe such a bad song would be recorded in honor of disneyland's 60th anniversary. When Remember returned, it was nearly impossible to get them to the hub for the show because they had such low expectations following DL Forever. They all (casual mid-late 20s professionals who aren't avid disneyland fans/visitors) had goosebumps and were crying during Remember. Its the age-old argument though on this forum, and in the case of wishes and HEA, of classic versus contemporary (and while I don't think disneyland needs HEA with fantasmic already running, and that WOC could be a good place to introduce HEA to the west coast, I would prefer that score over disneyland forever's "step into the magic" if I had to choose between the two. The score for DL Forever was really kind of abrasive but I know these things can be subjective.

HEA and Wishes are both character shows, and HEA is arguably better, but more contemporary and lacking of nostalgia. The differences between Remember and DL Forever are greater than those between HEA and Wishes. Not only is there a classic versus contemporary comparison that is tonal/emotional, the content is vastly different, with Remember being about disneyland and DL Forever being a character show. Remember tugs at the heart strings, Disneyland Forever excites.

Given that we already have fantasmic and world of color, I don't see the point in having DL forever. The content of Remember gives good variety to nighttime entertainment at disneyland. Given that they're using DL Forever tech to upgrade Remember, spending more money to update it, they don't want to bring DL Forever back. I am curious if anybody knows more about why DL Forever isn't coming back, beyond cost. Because if the show was beloved and cost was an issue, they could have just cut back on some of the inflatables, nemo, and cut 20% of the shells out of the show. Instead, they spent more money creating visuals unique to each show location for Remember. What's kind of cool is that scenes from disneyland forever, like tangled and lion king, are being introduced into fantasmic, so I think that upgraded show will be satisfying to audiences that liked DL Forever.

How would you feel, Kira, about them creating projections for Main Street for Remember, the way they've upgraded the lighting and projections at small world, the castle, and ROA? Would you like that and do you think it would satisfy audiences? Meaning, what was more important, the spectacle of DLForever, or the score? I think the fireworks were arguably more impressive on DL Forever (though I like the rainbow that begins the finale of Remember) and the show was fun but I don't miss it the way I miss / want to watch Remember, Fantasmic, illuminations, and WOC again, or even HEA which I haven't even yet seen. I can live without nemo on the wire and the inflatables on main street, but would definitely love to see projections on main street again.

Long post, but pretty good summary. For the record, DLF really annoyed me and I wouldn't care to ever see it again. :)

I don't miss Forever at all. Not saying I didn't like the show, I did. But it had nothing to do with Disneyland, despite its name, and now that Remember is back with enhanced special effects and projections, I don't ever have to see Forever again.

Forever is still the best show they've done, IMO. I like the faster pace of it, and I think the Disney songs just go better with fireworks than themes from attractions.

I miss the special effects too, like the snow and the inflatable seaweed. While I think Remember resonates more with hardcore fans of the park and with purists, the everyday, casual park-goer seemed to love Forever. It was truly a crowd pleaser. And that finale!!
