has anyone out there caught an episode on A&E of Airline? I watched the episode last night, and all I can say is I am glad I don't work for any airports or airlines.

for those who havent watched, the basic idea is it is a documentry (each show with a different location and people) that follows those travelers with issues. for example, last night there was this horrible woman and her two sons flying out of Chicago-Midway, and she missed her flight, as she got there40 minutes before her flight. they follow her around as she yells at everyone in her path, until she finally gets on another flight.

this brings up many questions....

one-anyone catch the show? fans out there?

two- what are some of your personal bad moments?

three- any bad moments due to other passengers?

four- any tips for those who are traveling? (such as no matter how old your kid is, make sure to have some form of ID with them.)

Hubby and I love that show, (although it scares me when it is close to time we have to fly (like in 5 days). About 6 years ago we used to fly Southwest down to FLA since it was cheap, and I have vowed never to do it again. Not that I don't think the empolyees aren't good, they do their best, SW polices are just alwful and this show really brings those to light.

For example over booking. One show they were over booked by 50 people! What were they thinking? Also they don't asign seats so there is a ton of time wasted trying to rearange to keeps famlies and such together.

One show they made a family with granted large for her size 2 year old, but 2 year old (if you know anything about child develpment she was under 3 with no doubts) buy an extra ticket to get home because they didn't belive the parents on the age.

Now I have a child, and never had problems with this (I always carry a copy of her BC just in case, but they never asked me for it.)

All in all it apears their biggest problems is with the bars in the airports and people wanting to fly drunk. I can't belive the audasity of people these days, even post 911, it is like they don't care about safety and airport safety is just a bother instead of for everyones best interest.

We fly NW this weekend, I am bit nervous since we haven't taken them in a number of years, hope all goes well! (oh and I am 25 weeks pregnant!)

I've seen it a couple times. My mom and I saw the lady and her two sons a few months ago, and we were just sitting there laughing at the woman. She shows up late for her flight, and then acts like the airline is the one at fault because they don't magically have another flight to San Diego available right then and there.

There also was an episode where a guy was forced to buy an extra seat because of his size, and the woman was trying so hard to put it to him delicately.

In another bit, one passenger had such bad BO that all the other customers were griping about it, so one of the managers came out and talked to the guy and gave him some vouchers for deodorant and fresh clothes from the airport store.

I can't imagine having to address those kinds of sensitive issues with people....on top of worrying about terrorists and bad weather and everything else.

the show is a must see....

a few other episode "topics"
-several "too-drunk-to-fly" cases
-a man to Foul to fly...meaning that he had a stong smell emerging from his clothes/body
-several cases of a man being too "large" to fly....
although they do focus on the bad....there are little segments of the employees "having fun"...one episode showed a party for a pilot who was retiring, another showed a group of friends/workers at the annual South West party....which was sooo funny....

The show ia quite a hit in this house...I can't belive South west would allow themselves to be filmed...as after seeing some other stories...I would never fly them again....

**The show follows a group of workers (flight attendents, ticketers, managers) through SW hubs in Chicago, LA, and sometimes Detriot....
Its usaully on mondays 10-11, 2 half hour episodes....

I love watching this show. I fly with SW all the time and know people who work for them and these stories are just funny. I sit there and laugh at these people who say they fly all the time , obviously they dont casue they would know the rules to fly and LEARN TO TAKE OFF ALL JEWERLY AND KEYS OUT OF THE POCKETS!!! That annoys me ......I mean I am not a sesoned flyer(only to FL a few times a year) but at least I read rules nad learn from other people before I fly...

While they covered the problems in Detroit during the black out (I was in FLA during that time funny enough) I haven't seen any out of here yet.

I worked in a out patient mental health clinic for over 5 years as a thearpsit, (recenlty laid off due to budget cuts and now a stay at home pregnant mom). It is funny because while wachting the show I can't help to laugh at the situation, they are not unlike what you encounter in a mental health facitlity. But the staff aren't required to have master's degrees to deal with them! That is rather scary since this is who we are flying with and never really know it.

What about the one where the lady was yelling at the airline for lossing her lugage for like an hour and it was on the carrosel the whole time. She said it was green and it was a different color. Make a mental note of what your luggage looks like before you check it people. Or the family that was having a cow becuase their mother's nessasry medication was on the airplane, but she wasn't. (this is bad, but please who checks your medicaiton, keep some of it with you!) Or the one where the mother said her 12 year old blond tall white daughter was missing, and when they found her she was short, dark and hispanic. Hello now wonder they didn't find her. :hammer:

Oh and don't forget the man in a skirt with nothing on under it, and he was threating to sue the airlines because they made him put pants on. I wouldn't sit next to him! :brick:

I think it is Sunday and Monday nights at 10:00, and 10:30, but the 10:30 one is a repet.

I used to watch it but I just couldn't stand it anymore, so I stopped. There's another airliner board I belong to that discusses it all the time.

Problm with that show is that they really focus on highlighting the worst bits of it. I realize Southwest has it's own problems and attracts a certain crowd, but they really do a bad job with it. A lot of people (myself included) think some people ham it up just because they see a camera there.

There is an English version of it I want to see, and there is another one on Discovery Wings called Airport, which is about London's Heathrow. That is a little more documentary style than Airline.

Yes, maybe the reason we like shows like this is it makes up feel smart, no mater what kind of day we are having! I mean Jessica Simson makes my spending habbits look mild (but then again I don't have 1/1000th of her money!)
