Trip Report A Disneyland Paris Trip Report!

Hello All!

I just got back from an Ireland/Paris vacation where I went to Disneyland Paris for the first time! I thought I would write a TR for anyone thinking about doing a trip to DLP.

For Starters:
Traveling was myself, Emily, a 31-year-old Disney Fan. This was pretty much my Eat, Pray, Love trip and I was traveling solo! From MA in the USA, this was my first trip to Ireland as well as France.

Dates: April 20-21st

Staying at: Disney's Santa Fe Resort

Language: I only know English and the smallest amount of French thanks to Duolingo.

Come along for the journey!

Part 1

My flight from Dublin to Paris was at 6am. I woke up bright and early at 4am to make it to the airport. The Dublin airport was a breeze and I got through no problem. Once through security I had breakfast and then we were off to Paris!

I arrived in Paris at around 8:45am. The Paris airport for the most part has everything in French, English, and I think Chinese? The airport is huge! It was quite a walk to get to boarder control which had a decent line. Once getting through we were on the Magical Shuttle by 10am! The ride on the shuttle was about 40 minutes. I then went to check into Santa Fe and they informed me my room would be ready at 3pm. I dropped my luggage off and grabbed a coffee and we were on our way!

Walking into Disneyland Paris is similar to Disneyland. Everything is close together which is nice compared to wdw where you need to bus from place to place. Outside the actual park there are non-Disney workers selling ears, Paris souvenirs, and doing caricature. I walked right by them as we were on a mission to get into Disneyland Paris.

This park is beautiful. And so clean!!! I have never seen a Disney park as clean as DLP. After being in awe at the park I debated where I would go first. I opened the DLP app and started looking at wait times. Phantom Manor had a 20 minute wait so that would be our first stop!

The French/English ratio on attractions was so interesting. Some are almost all English, some are only French, and some are a hybrid. Phantom Manor is a hybrid which I liked the best throughout this trip. The story is a little different as it focuses on Constance (the bride). Overall I liked wdw haunted mansion better and give phantom manor a 3.5/5 rating.

Next on the list was pirates. This was another hybrid English/French attraction but more French. This version is a combination or wdw and DL. I thought this pirates was better than the wdw version. I ranked it a 4/5.

It was then time for lunch! I decided to go to Belle Notte which was delicious! I got pasta, a soda, and tiramisu. One thing I loved about DLP is every meal is served on real plates, real cups and real utensils. Everyone sits to eat meals and there is very little snacking in lines and such. I think this helped with how clean the park was.

Loving your report so far. We used to go to DLP when we needed our Disney fix when we obviously couldn’t get to WDW. We have stayed in three of the hotels but would love to try the Disneyland Hotel but it’s a bit out of reach money wise.

I'm going to be completely honest here and I definitely circled around this park in the most chaotic way possible. I had a goal of seeing the Lion King Show at 3:50pm so I needed something I could get done in a short amount of time. I decided to go through Alice's Curious Labyrinth. This is a super cute walk-through attraction/maze. I don't have anything to really compare it to in wdw, maybe a smaller Tom Sawyer Island? I'm hoping this is what the Moana experience will be like. I would give it a 3/5, not a must-do attraction but something fun to do in between rides.

I then made my way to the Lion King show at around 3:20pm. Thank goodness I did because this show fills up! It is an amazing show that I actually enjoyed more than the Festival of the Lion King. With the choreography, and the singing, I felt like I was watching a Broadway show. 5/5 it was amazing

After the show I went over to Indiana Jones and rode single rider. This ride is smooth for about 20 seconds then super bumpy. Short coaster with a loop in it. Solid 3/5

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

FYI, the real plates and utensils at quick service is fairly new. Although I am only guessing, it probably is rooted in European requirements (bans) on single use plastics, etc and reductions in landfill waste.

After Indy I decided I would venture back to the resort. Santa Fe would hold my luggage until 10pm but I was planning to stay in the parks until 11pm so a trip back to the resort was necessary. On my way out I saw a sight we would never see in wdw….. heaters!

I made it back to the resort and found my room in the “sally” section. The room was basic just a place to rest. I would honestly rank it lower than the all stars but It did its job for this trip.

On my way back to the park I decided to switch gears and go over to Walt Disney studios. This park is small! Great attractions but man is it small.

First up was avengers campus. I have not been to this area in DL so this was all new for me. Web slingers was a 5 minute wait for single riders so we walked right on in! Web slingers was a fun attraction! My score isn’t amazing (purple) but it was fun! I give it a 4/5.

I then made my way to flight force which is basically rockin roller coaster. Solid ride but I wish it was more marvel it was really just dark in there 3/5. Also enjoy my picture of a picture on the ride.
