All-Star Movies. This was very awesome. I've never stayed on property at one of these resorts, and not under this new pricing structure. The following are descriptions of my experiences with the hotel, meal plan, and navigation.
The meal plan made it much easier for me to deal with restaurants. Usually, the server has to read the menu to me, but I saved them some time with the meal plan. It was nice to ask "what are the most expensive dishes I can purchase under the meal plan" and get the biggest value. Seriously, do this, you get some amazing food. An example is the seafood at China's table service restaurant. I believe that the platter was $18 or $19, plus the appetiser, drink, and pie. My meal alone had to be about $30. It also made paying much easier, and because tip is already included (thank you guys for that info), payment didn't involve having to do all of that math in my head. Talking calcs are too big to carry around, and they are expensive. I wouldn't want to get it wet. The counter service people were great, telling me what was on their menu, and payment was so simple. They even helped us carry our trays into Fantasmic. I was so worried we were going to not be capable of eating our meal while waiting for that show to begin. I heard that many others do this, but it was quite a challenge. I don't remember the CMs name, but they helped us get down the stairs with our food, the biggest part of the challenge.
I do have a funny story though, and it should be described using dialog. This was the only time I became angered by a cast member the whole trip, and it didn't spoil anything. It turned out to be quite comical in the end. MGM popcorn cart on Sunset:
Me: "Hello, two popcorns please. We'll be using the dining plan."
CM (in cart): "Me machine not working now, go to other cart"
Me: "OK, fine, please tell me where to go."
CM: "Turn left and go down road, on right will be popcorn cart"
Me: "We can't see very well, what attractions or landmarks will we find on our way to the cart?"
CM: "Its a popcorn cart"
Me: "I understand, but what is around it, we won't find it without knowing what other landmarks are around it."
CM: "Its a popcorn cart"
Me: "LISTEN CAREFULLY. I am blind, she can't see well either, we need to know what buildings, streets, rides, shops, restaurants, and any other decorations may be near the popcorn cart."
CM: "It is a popcorn cart."
Me: "F$$k it! See ya!"
We found another one later, but it took quite a while, because other CMs tried pointing us back to that other cart with the CM that had a broken card reader and didn't have a good grasp of the English language. I honestly think they could do a little better job placing better English speaking CMs on the front line at restaurants.
More about the hotel. I had an interesting experience learning the layout. There were several times I would go get a drink without my girlfriend with me. The first time, we had just been shown to our room. I had been holding my girlfriend's arm and not using my cane (first dumb move). When I decided to go out of the hotel, I got crazy lost. Good thing some other guests asked me if I was lost, because this was one of the very few times that I was. Usually, I'm pretty good about navigation, but the sidewalks are winding little roads, and I had no idea where the main sidewalk was that I needed to take to the central building. When I finally got into that lobby, I knew enough to get to the checkin desk. I asked where to get the refillable mugs. A CM from the desk was nice enough to help. I realized that she was the same person who helped us to the room about an hour before. She helped me pick out a mug, and oriented me to the drink selection. I was really happy to see that they had a sink for cleaning out the mug, because hot chocolate can become messy if you fall asleep at night and don't remember to wash it out right away. I did that

. I told her that I didn't have a clue where my room was, and she helped me out. crazy thing, she was excellent at giving directions to me. I just trailed the bushes to the right of the door that slides open in the back of the lobby. It is just past the food court. If you were standing facing the door, food court is left, and arcade games are right. I then was told that there were 3 sidewalks I could get trapped in, and was aware that I had to go to the fourth in order to be at the right position to find my room. I found it easily once at the correct building. The room numbers are brailled, as required by the ADA. My card then didn't work in the door. The CM tried it, and then when she couldn't get it to work, we tried knocking at the door. My girlfriend was dead asleep. I was pounding quite loudly. She sleeps through some really weird things, and I worry about that sometimes. The CM offered to replace our cards, and she left and came back with new ones about 5 minutes later. When those didn't work, a person she brought with her reprogrammed the door. Then it worked. My luck right?
I was in a room right in front of the scene with the little dog from 101 Dolmations watching TV. I have a picture that my girlfriend took with me in the TV.
Enough for now, let me know your reactions. They have been great to read, and are encouraging. I will definately be recording that podcast then.
