A customer service article worth a read.

My favorite variant of this is when the customer claims to have spoken to somebody else at a time when I was the only one to whom they would have spoken. Or, even better, the people who get really nasty because I do not have what they were promised and then we come to find out that while they did speak to somebody else, their issue is with an entirely different company.

Once working at a place that sold birthday party packages I spent 30 minutes running around, digging through everything, call our other location, etc. trying to find a record of a party booked for a family. During this time they're getting louder and nastier. Then they finally let the name of the place they called out and its not us or our other location, but our competitor in the next town over. Instead of apologizing, they demanded I still give them, for free, what they had purchased.

I loved Customer Service. It was my favorite. I don't know if I have a talent or if it is just easier than people make it sound, but I was so good at it and LOVED it. The more ed off someone was when they got to me, the happier I was inside, lol. I couldn't wait to calm them down and get them thanking me. Every single ed off person had me thinking, "Ooh, now's my chance to shine!" Like personal challenges. It was fun for me.

My boss even had a friend of his pretend to be a seriously ed off customer to see how far he could push me before I was apathetic, rude or just lost my cool. Joke was on him because I didn't. :)

If it had paid me what I needed to make, I'd still do it. I miss Customer Service.

I think it's a lot easier if you work somewhere that you like and actually believe in the company. Working customer service when you kinda know the company is sorta in the wrong is tough.

I have worked tons of customer service jobs (WDW CM included) and tend to not put up with screamers or swearers. I tell them that they can come back and speak to someone when they calm down, they have no right to speak to me like that or cause a scene and I call security and have them escorted out.

I did once turn into a screamer and a swearer. I had deposited a cash payment into my bank at a machine - something I normally don't do but it was late on a weekend and I had $900 cash and didn't want to have it on me the rest of the weekend since I was staying in the city with a friend.

Meanwhile, I called my bank to change the date of my credit line payment to the 22nd from now on because of the change in my pay schedule - this, I was told was no problem. Also, I made enough money to pay my old student loan in full so I made a transfer of $1500 to pay it off. This made for a slightly less fortunate month but since I had just deposited the $900 I wasn't worried and all my bills were paid.

3 weeks later my account looks...well...wrong. I go in to find an indecipherable code (something like FRD CRT TRF) and a withdraw of $891.00. I called my bank to find out what happened and they said that I claimed to have deposited $900.00 but I actually only deposited $9.00 so they made a correction. Keep in mind this is Canada - that would mean me depositing an envelope with change in it which you can't do or a cheque which could be easily traced.

I spend days of phone calls, trips to the bank and emails to get it sorted out and nothing. I beg them to check security cameras and they will see me count out $900 cash and put it in the envelope. They say they only check cameras in the event of a crime. I say this is a crime, you stole my money.

They next few days included them taking my credit line payment on the 15th instead of the 22nd like I asked AND applying my $1500 payment to a complete strangers student loan. This is all the same bank.

Frankly I lost my freaking mind. I called and asked to speak to the highest up person I could, explained the entire situation and he said that it seems like people are investigating what happened with the loan payments and that there's no need for me to keep calling. Then he said, the "situation" with the $900.00 has been closed as resolved on their end and unless I planned on filing suit they won't discuss it anymore.

I ended up screaming and swearing so much my BF thought I was being attacked by an intruder. I just snapped! It was pretty crazy but when all of a sudden your bank basically screws you out of $2400 + you get a little peeved.

I closed all my accounts, paid off my credit card and switched banks. The Student Loan payment was resolved in a few weeks. Three months later I get an email stating they located the missing money and could send me a money order for it. I actually got a customer service call asking if I would let them know why I closed my accounts. I explained because they are disciples of Satan put on earth to steal from the poor and give to the rich and I won't be traveling to hell with them.

I worked briefly in a customer facing job, and I had all sorts of insults hurled at me, for seemingly trivial reasons. I could rant about my experiences for ages, but I won't take up your time by doing so. From my own experience, one bad customer in a day would ruin my day, even if the other customers were nice, friendly ones.

All I can say is thank goodness I'm out of that industry and into science which is far more fun, and customer free (unless you include other scientists!)

My manager in the call center I used to work in was like that. She loved deescalating customers, it was her favorite part of the job. I thought she was nuts, but I loved her.

Wow, luv, that's really mean. I demand an apology forthwith.

:devilish:
Oh, my goodness. Is this a joke or did someone actually hack my account?

I never said that, I promise! I never even thought it!

If it appeared in my post, at any time, in any way, I apologize for it being there and swear that I never said it. We've been suckered by someone who is not only saying mean things, but too cowardly to say it themselves and has decided to hide behind me, which is both cruel and unfair!

This website and all it's various points of view have brought me distraction, relief and comfort...and continue to do so today. I am grateful for it all and wouldn't think, much less SAY that you all suck! Good God.

I am begging you to all to forgive me for the BS and fraudulent post attributed to me. People are actually going to be forced into being hurt and offended by those words and it's unfair to them and to me.

I sense a disturbance in the force...but I think you're going to have to try a bit harder to push @luv over the edge ;)
Lol, you all are evil and must be stopped. I am calling my minions to rally and we shall defeat you! Well, the minions shall. I shall stay be behind and watch it on TV. But, Hark! Under the strength of 1000 Gods of Fury, you will perish! And I shall rule over all Fanboydom.

There was a time when *the customer was always right*.....no any more.........I have seen to many customer that think they can say anything and do anything!

My people know how to give first rate service, but there are limits.

They know I will back them up any time a customer, cusses at them, threatens, yells *out of control
* or try's to touch or harm them. Let any customer do any of those 4 things and out the door they go!....FAST!

If they don't leave the police are 100 yards away!
