A bit saddened - club level availability

Hello all.. I posted this on another forum as well for advice but I wanted some additional opinions.

So my fiance and I are currently planning our honeymoon from December 5-10 at the AKL. We got some extra money recently and were thinking of putting it towards adding a day to the trip, but my employer put me on some work that will keep me from taking the extra day off.

So I figured "Well, since we already decided to put more money towards the trip, why not get an upgrade to club level and be really spoiled?"

I pitched the idea to my fiance and she got excited over the idea. So I call Disney to set it up aaaand... there's no club level rooms available on December 5.

So basically what I'm wondering is what others think our chances are that a club level room might open up for us, and should I bother to keep checking back about it? I didn't know they were in such high demand! You'd think it'd be easy to spend more money on a Disney trip but I seem to be having some difficulty doing so. :lookaroun

We have never booked a club level, but I know it seems so hard to figure out what to do if that one day you want is not available, so I guess need to ask how flexable to you want to be?

For me if it was my honeymoon, to stay in one location for 1 day and then have to move for the other days is to much of a inconvience.

So can you find another way you to would want to spend the money, like one of the lagoon boat cruises, where you have dinner prepared and you get to see the fireworks.

Don't want to hijack the thread, and can't speak for AKL, but if it's anything like WL club level, you're not missing much. Just pick up a couple cheap bath robes, pack a DVD player, some gummie bears, pretzels, chocolate chip cookies and a 12 pack of soda and you'll get the club level experience and save the money.

There are so many other things you could splurge on instead of a club level!

-a spa appointment
-keys to the kingdom tour or something like that
-victoria and albert's
-illuminations cruise

etc. . . .

I would think that any one of those would be more fun and add a special
touch to your Honeymoon . . . look into it!

AKL has a reputation for a great Club Level with food brought in from Boma's and Jiko as well as other perks such as the Sunrise Safari hence the OP's trouble with availability.

To the OP.....All you can do is keep trying. Room availability literally changes by the minute at WDW. I am in their reservation system almost daily and rooms that were not available at noon are available at 12:30 and vice versa. If it is something you want keep trying. Also if it is possible try moving your days around. Sometimes moving your trip up or down a day or two can make the difference.

I loved being in the Contemporary on the Concierge/Club level. There are plenty of differences that I can think of immediately that made that visit amazing. Having a concierge help with making reservations that seemed like weren't going to happen was a Godsend. We had a sick child and they helped finding some pedialyte for us - and even offered to pick something up from a pharmacy if we needed it. The refreshments and breakfast were awesome. The personal touch made a huge difference.

While I've never had much interest in upgrading to Club level. Everything I've heard indicated the AKL version is clearly the best.
Food from Boma and Jiko and a unique overlook of what I consider the best lobby in WDW make it interesting.
As others have said, don't give up.
Good Luck!!

Dont bother paying extra for club level.Just make sure they know at check in its your honeymoon and you may get a free upgrade. We have stayed at the Poly the last three years on our anniversary and got free upgrades to club level. We also told them when we made the reservation that it was our anniversary trip they note that on the reservation.I personally would never pay for the club level because its not worth the extra cash but getting it free is living like a :king::king: 22 years and our honeymoon was WDW also! Good luck:wave:

If you can't get club level while on your honeymoon, I'd just book something else to make your stay special. Maybe splurge for a really nice restaurant, La Nouba, tour, spa treatment, fireworks cruise or if you really wanted to splurge you could try to rent the Grand One for an evening and have a meal out there along with watch the fireworks. That would be really special!

I don't know how important to you to be at the AKL but we've done club level at the GF, Poly, and Contemporary. Loved it and thought it worth the money at the GF (7/2007) and Poly (1/2007) but not at the contemporary (7/2009). I've never stayed at AKL so can't speak directly to their service but you may consider splitting your time between two sites. If you've only tried to book online I'd suggest calling and seeing if there is any other options. I've had that help in past.

Funny, I was just checking today about whether it was worth the extra $270 to get a club level room at AKL next August. I was leaning toward no. I don't think the room is any bigger (is it?), with the DP the last think we need is more food, and the Wanyama Safari is open to all guests (but expensive). Given all that, don't think I'd fret if I couldn't get a club level room. The AKL is fantastic, even with the non-club savannah view room. Nice to hear input from you all on this.
