A bit late with this thought but it is a real puzzler . . .

Even a Tolkien-nerd like me found Bakshi's version almost unwatchable back when this was the default movie version of the books. Those Rankin & Bass TV films were better, and I still think their version of The Hobbit is a more satisfying adaptation than Peter Jackson's prequel trilogy.

Jackson's LOTR trilogy, though, set the gold standard.

EDIT: I had to search for an image of Princess Teegra. Jeez, and people thought Princess Leia's costume in Return of the Jedi was too revealing! I've never seen the film, so I'm trying to think of what, if any, plot device explains that... um... outfit.
The plot device is she is the daughter of the king that rules over the volcanic land. Fire & Ice isn't a bad movie. It's just extremely different from Disney. It was shot live action in black and white and then copied to animation to create a more fluid look. The backgrounds were painted by Thomas Kinkade. The writers worked as editor-in-chief at Marvel in the 70s. Just like Wizards, movie is rated PG and would probably blow most Disney fan's minds.

Raya was designated a Disney Princess last year.

"And making her official debut as a Disney Princess this year is Kumandran warrior Raya from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Raya and the Last Dragon”!"

Well that blows the movie tanking idea.
