A 4th Hotel On Site Soon?

Rumors have been around for a while regarding a possible 4th hotel on Universal's property (yes, there is enough room for another hotel or two)... Some folks have speculated the resort would be a value resort, others said moderate, yet other rumors pointed to more deluxe accommodations..

The Art Deco concept art is pasted below... The top image is the hotel... Not sure what the bottom image is:

Anyway, rumors have surfaced again regarding a 4th and possibly 5th hotel(s) on site... The 4th hotel is rumored to be built by the Royal Pacific, on the empty lots... The rumored theme is 1960's California beach resort/surf theme, which would include surf lessons at a newly built surf pool... The resort would be priced as a moderate...

Screamscape, yes Screamscape, has stared the hotel is planned for the end of 2013... Personally, I don't know if that is legit or just something made up... But they did post a map with red arrows pointing to the areas that have been marked for resort expansion...

Here is the article:

Late 2013 - New Resort - Rumor - (1/30/12) Early word is that Universal Orlando may be working with their hotel partner (Lowes Hotels) on finalizing plans to open a forth resort hotel by the end of 2013 in one of the empty lots beyond the Royal Pacific. More than likely, they may opt to build this resort of the bigger plot of land, which is also the furthest one away, directly behind the giant Jurassic Park ride building.

.....The rumored theme of this resort may be a 1960’s era California ocean side resort hotel with a heavy surfing theme. The Surfing theme may be played up quite a bit here, with the creation of an on-site waterpark for hotel guests that will include an abundance of surf wave equipment (wave pool, stationary surf waves, etc). From what I’m hearing, a surfing lesion may even may be included as part of the experience for hotel guests. Even better news, it seems the price point they are shooting for with this new hotel may be to fit in more with Disney’s Moderate resort level price point.

.....In a previous master plan amendment filed with the city back in 2007, they did identify both of the empty lots beyond the Royal Pacific as future resort sites. The closest site (labeled Site D) was planned to have an 800 room, 8-story tall hotel structure, while the bigger site we’re talking about here (Site E) was to hold a proposed 1800 room resort with 16-story tall hotel tower wings branching off a central structure. The plan at the time did show that Universal intended to expand the river system to allow for transportation to these two new hotel projects. (This was the same master plan where they revealed the apartment complex that was built behind the Jaws area and The Promenade at Universal Plaza office complex that went in across from the Hess station.)

So, now with the rumor of a possible water park coming to the Universal property and the new rumor of a water/surf themed hotel, could there be signs that the hotel and water park are built in connection with each other??? And if this is the route Universal goes, how do you feel???

Well the apartment and office/retail buildings have already materialized over the past two years, although that office building on the west side of the property is still rather empty. I've heard rumblings about a water park going somewhere on/around the "Hollywood Lot" (the open land on the west side of the property) for about a year, and it seemed to have some legs prior to hearing about this, and I could see the desire for additional rooms. But I do think the 2013 date for the opening of any future construction is a little soon.

I don't take that 2013 date seriously... That would be very ambitious... 2014 maybe... 2015 more likely if a new resort is in fact built.. Right around the time for the opening of WWoHP 2.0....

I was hoping that the water park ( if it is built) would be built on that big plot next to royal pacific. while a new value resort would be built onto the water parl ( like someone said bef0re). but i would not want it in the area near portofilo cause it just sort of cramps the area if you know what i mean

I would rather them use any extra space for future ride development. Since they have a very limited amount of land available for expansion as it is, saving such land for new rides seems to make the most sense to me. Are their three hotels now consistently filled that they need a 4th??

The land available for expansion (aside from the Studios plot which contains the pyro bunker) is outside of current park boundaries and would require crossing a road to get guests to it from within the parks, as well as decent amounts of backstage area. From a guest flow and park layout perspective, it really doesn't make much sense even without the issue of going over/under 6 lanes of road for Islands. A new water park and a hotel seem about right for the area of land there.

Dxer, 2015 sounds about right for the hotel (and maybe a water park), as long as they get the green light and action starts happening by next year.

Exactly max, as long as the projects are green lit and work begins in the next year... I can see the hotel built in conjunction with the water park, to be honest...
