From what I hear, the same thing is happening with Zootopia replacing Who Wants to be a Bug? Wash, rinse, repeat. Not long after "new management" had replaced the original I went to see if it was just my first impression that made me not like it. Anyway, I struck up a conversation in the queue with a sweet little 5 year old girl. Her mother was so excited that she was able to bring her daughter to see the attraction that had moved her when she was a child and couldn't wait to share with her. I had my own upset about the "management" theme, but didn't have the heart or even the right to tell her about the changes. As we sat down she mentioned how much she loved "Sing like the birdies sing" that she and I both remembered was such a wonderful part of the show especially when the whole audience just swayed back and forth while singing along during that part. She so wanted to share that with her daughter. When the show ended I looked over at the mother who at that point was quietly crying. I asked her is she was OK and all she could say is I wanted so much to share that with my daughter and share that unforgettable feeling that I had when I first heard it with my parents and they've taken it away.
Turns out that seemed to be a common opinion about the new program. I'd like to think that some caring Tiki gods had something to do with singeing the new managers feathers and giving us most of the original back including, if memory serves, those birds were once again singing like they should have been. When I first saw the show I was the adult and sitting between my two, (6 & 9 years old), daughters as they happily sang like the birdies sang. You don't have to be a child to be moved by something that simple. The trouble was that, in all probability, some 20 something year old imagineer newcomers couldn't possible imagine that a 1932 popular song would still be enjoyed in the early 2000's. As usual, they didn't know their audience. I'm kinda sorry that the topic was brought up again. I had forgotten about it and this discussion just made me see the sad, disappointed look on that one mother's face and wondered did that happened to more than one person.
The thing is, absolutely NOTHING would surprise me from TWDC..To several posters in this thread:

That would mean the ground that is still actively being used and right next to the basement level of guest occupied buildings has been and is increasingly unstable.I recently read another potential sinkhole "sank" the theater (pun intened!)
Disney asked AI if it was offended by the Tiki room and it said yes and here we areI'm genuinely curious, has anyone from Polynesia said that they were offended by the Tiki Room?
my thoughts always/exactlyThat would mean the ground that is still actively being used and right next to the basement level of guest occupied buildings has been and is increasingly unstable.
They’re made up too.The only ones I know of for sure are the ones by Odyssey & WS.
That's just to throw us off the scent..Can this thread just be locked at this point? The permit isn't to replace show elements, so the rampant, progressive speculation by a few elements is unwarranted.
"The owner on the filing is Facilities Asset Management (FAM), not Walt Disney Imagineering.
A FAM-owned permit points to facility or infrastructure work rather than changes to the show."
was hoping you might say if feathers are going to be plucked or if we are squawking over much of nothingHey y'all, any updates about what this is?![]()
I feel like this is pretty on topic when people were worried it was meaning a rethemePlease let this go.
As @The Mom just reminded everyone just a few days ago, this is a forum on infrastructurual work (which I immediately recognized when the forum was created)
I'm tired of getting upset, writing contrary arguments, and seeing them get deleted. What's the point of all that?
I come here for recreation. "Politics" is not recreational, in part because it's almost everywhere else.
But I've been privately told things were much "worse" on these forums about 5 years ago
(I don't care if this post gets deleted too)![]()
But if they had actually read the article they would not have any reason to worry. So any speculation about a retheme is off topic.I feel like this is pretty on topic when people were worried it was meaning a retheme
Is it OT if we are questioning if the infrastructure work could be in prep of a not yet announced retheme? But if they had actually read the article they would not have any reason to worry. So any speculation about a retheme is off topic.
Sorry, no questions or speculation allowed. Is it OT if we are questioning if the infrastructure work could be in prep of a not yet announced retheme?
Seems like way too much of a stretch for me. All you get is Chicken Little syndrome. Is it OT if we are questioning if the infrastructure work could be in prep of a not yet announced retheme?
good POV.Sorry, but it seems disingenuous to complain that this sparked speculation. There and has been for years an entire thread dedicated to permit filings and they don’t generally spark a run of speculation. This permit was treated differently, being given a write up and thread, so of course people reacted to it being treated differently and assumed something was different.
