October 2025 Price Increases

Yes and it's Friday. Those that made it a week were departing. How do I know? Front license plates are a dead giveaway. Traffic was backed up northbound from Okahumpka to Ocala.
I never knew Columbus day was a holiday people got off work for much less the week. Schools were not out here.

Disney price gouging and the economy hurting attendance at WDW.
Disney rep gives them a long lead time until bad decisions come home to roost

This strategy dates back to at minimum the end of the housing crash recession.

Long before plague, supply chain, inflation, tariffs and every other excuse for predatory policies

Now here’s where I agree it is an economic issue…subconsciously

The target market has been crushed (like most of us here) by drastic increases in food, housing, insurance, utility and education costs. Brutal.

I think people are not directly associating their strife with it affecting their Disney consumption

My hunch is it still is…and they have to navigate that and get angry about losing a lil Disney and they don’t have a great perception of how they’re getting there

This sure seems to be one this “I’m not telling anyone what to think…just as long as everyone agrees with me” kinda tangents

I love a good sidebar…but this isn’t about Disney increasing its prices any longer

The first year we went to WDW in 2010 they were offering 45% off deluxe resorts. The only time I can remember there being no discounts was the two post covid years. I got 35% off at AKL in 2019. I have never paid rack rate for room. Not ever. Discounts aren't new.
In 2010, Iger went on record in an earnings call saying the goal at theme parks was to "slowly wean our guests off discounting. ... We don't believe that we're dealing with an economy right now that enables us to shut off the discounting immediately."

Looks like the only economy they could quit discounting was in the post-pandemic pent-up travel (s)urge...

Apparently you can't discuss the economy. Since Disney prices and discounts can't be disconnected from the economy. I think I'll sit this one out.

Absolutely

Im just disputing the notion that backup up Florida highways = good disney attendance

That was a rather silly premise (not by you)
That particular intersection is engineered for rapid flow, being a major evacuation route for central/southern Florida. So I can see how someone might correlate higher-than-normal traffic at that junction with the implementation or cessation of WDW discounts.

Or it could just be Florida drivers mixing badly with a lot of people from other states.
