DHS Disney Animation-Inspired Experience Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

There's no guarantee that it will have a shorter lifespan, but I don't believe Disney intends this to be a permanent solution the way they intended Play! to be a permanent solution. Play! was guaranteed to last a long time because that was always the intent; this isn't.

I certainly don't think this is some kind of major win for DHS, but I don't think it really moves the needle there positively or negatively, whereas I think Play! would have had a long term detrimental effect on EPCOT.
Intent that far out in some regards is rather meaningless. This project is not legally temporary so it will be built to be just as permanent as anything. They may not go through the expense of better snd custom work but it will still generally be able to last for a good while. There is also nothing approved yet and there should be a leadership shakeup next year, anything not already in motion will be at serious risk of no longer being a priority.

I would not be terribly upset if this would be the approach they take throughout WDW over the next few years while we wait for the big lands. Purposeful upgrades to underutilized areas with a callback to the roots of what makes Disney, Disney. Next up SGE/Tomorrowland, Rafiki, WoL.

Figment and the Imagination pavilion needs an overhaul that blows peoples minds. not a touch up.

Got to laugh that Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris us often considered the worst Disney Park, yet WDW is happy to duplicate its Ratatouille, its Animation building and now its name. No wonder they're chaning the name of the park to Disney Adventure World, so Hollywood Studios can get the Walt Disney Studios name 🤣

My personal belief is that they're setting up for DHS and DCA to be rebranded as Disney Adventure Worlds as well. A franchise of franchise parks.

The biggest news no one is talking about is how concept art shows them adding 22 benches in this area.... We might be witnessing the single biggest increase in walkway seating any of the parks have ever seen!
This new green space in the middle of animation courtyard, plus the new green space where Studio 1 used to be should help reduce a lot of the concrete wasteland feeling of the front of the park

They need to restore the green to Mickey's nose in the center of the park as well. The cut-through that went under the hat is kind of awkward and can sometimes confusingly force guests to have to double back to get to the MMRR queue entrance because they assume there will be steps down at the rear.

Most people here were happy when the Play Pavilion died but for some reason we’re all giggly about its second coming.
Maybe it’s because this concept fulfills a much more pressing need in a park it is more appropriate in. And it does it via a concept that retains some of the original tone and intent of a version of this park people miss.

You might hear more about it at D23.

I don't think this is a permanent thing at AC. My guess is it's a placeholder while they figure out Phase 2 of DHS expansion.
Honestly that's a shame, because this feels like a good return to form for the park. Once Upon a Studio is one of the best things the Disney Company has done in years and having an attraction based on it is exciting. If Runaway Railway wasn't already made, a Once Upon a Studio dark ride would be PERFECT for the park

Knowing that this'll likely be replaced by an IP land a decade from now is a little disappointing
