EPCOT Spaceship Earth refurbishment coming soon?

Hey all. As we know, the Spaceship Earth refurbishment project that was supposed to happen in 2020 is fully dead. I can't help but wonder if once Test Track is finished, Disney could turn their eyes to another EPCOT attraction for a refurb. Spaceship Earth is in dire need as the current iteration has been open since 2007, and the descent scene is painfully outdated.

I think @DreamfinderGuy has mentioned that this is a possibility in the past, but officially there is no indication and I haven't heard the rumor mill go on this in a while.

Last I heard the plan was still SSE after Test Track, but its been at least six months now since the last time I've heard anything. I think we'll see it before the decade is through, the current show really can't run for much longer.

I sure hope so, as a big fan of SSE and EPCOT. I really hope they avoid IP, especially if Test Track rly pops off (it should)

I mean there has been some slight doubt creeping in on things like the rumor tracker and on that space thread but as far as I can tell it probably is still the plan. I do think it’ll be next too. Especially with the lounge. Rumor mill has been dead in general so don’t think too much about it.

Anything at Epcot would be nice after the mess they made of it.

1) They’ve already spent a ton of money on the EPCOT reimagining which they said is complete
2) it’s been taken off the list after already having been shelved
3) it’s AAs are holding up better than some of their new and improved ones

Think they can get GM to pay for it?

Probably not the best place to ask, as I am sure it will get buried, but is there a “Disney Team” responsible for actively seeking out sponsorships?

I've heard mixed signals on what's coming next, especially with some other people with knowledge saying SSE isn't up next, but if all turns well, the next thing for EPCOT is SSE5 or JII4.

I think the stars are aligning slightly better for SSE and wouldn't be shocked. Whatever happens won't be "Storylight".

I'm sure when Bob hangs in Davos or Jackson Hole he annoys the other CEO's by pushing how beneficial a sponsorship at WDW could be for their companies......
Not very successful but he tries...

It’s very interesting. Either would be great, though I think both have different reasons as to why they could go first. Spaceship earth, with its maintenance concerns, figment with the merchandising money and the potential for more IP in the Magic eye.

At this point I’m not even sure what I want a figment 4 to look like, that I just want it to happen and have dreamfinder back. Beggars and choosers and all that.

For Spaceship earth, my personal pipedream is that they go the test track route where it’s “inspired” by an old epcot ride, but for the golf ball, it’s “inspired” by horizons. Especially in the descent!

The Dame has openly entered the final chapter of her life, unfortunately. So a new narrator will be necessary in the near term, regardless. The new lounge suggests the company still wants to care for a ride they thankfully admit is iconic, now. Meanwhile, Figment gets a new sweater each year.
Eeh, not as bad as Robert osbornes ghost in the great movie ride. She’s still alive.

She doesn't introduce herself or anything so I think it's OK to continue when she's gone. Paul Frees narrates HM and he's been dead for almost 40 years. I would think she would see it as an honor to have her work outlive her.
