OK but those were reject “blooper” pics from our last TR. Here’s one where we’re overdressed:

That’ll do.

And…Mickey.

The previously mentioned trips are all reported towards the end of a year long (!!) Disney saga. They were all 2-3 night affairs. Most had 2 park days, but Christmas Eve & Day were all resorts & extras. I hope we are showing some of you that 2-day trips can be fun and worthwhile, especially if it isn’t your first or only trip, and if you have an AP - even a lowly Pixie pass like we do! We pack a lot into our time (even if a fair amount of that is at the bar or restaurant!) 🍸 🤣 That said, all those trips together are less than some folks’ one week visit.

But it’s easy to get away on B’s 2 days off without having to waste any vacation days.

This trip was unplanned until very recently. It was so unplanned, it was too late to get a promo discount on our Brightline tickets heading north. I had to chop them up into one-way tickets so we could at least get a discount (better than half the price) on our way home.

But since I was chopping them up…there’s always this awkward moment when we are checking out to go home because Brian has to go to work - but I don’t, so why am I going home? Then when we get home, he goes right to work and I’m home alone, anyway!

Once, I just stayed and took a free flight home on points later in the day (but losing what I paid for my train ticket home.) This time, I just booked separate train rides home. Poor Brian has to leave the room on Tuesday by around 9AM. 😕

But Tony, the king of Disney creep, er, vacation creep, gets to stay at Disney parks until about 8PM! (Who needs fireworks, anyway? 😬)

One of the things I like about Brightline vs. flying: you don’t have to arrive 2 hours early. You can get there 10 minutes before departure with no issues, go through security, and board.

The reason for this trip, you (nobody) ask?

There is a big (vinyl) Record Show in Orlando this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I know the guy who runs it. He usually participates when I run a local Record Show here in South Florida. He’s been bugging me to go up and get some tables, but I see it as a big pain in the neck to haul all my stuff.

He offered me free admission for the weekend if I wanted to come check it out, thinking that might make it more likely I would display in the future. The show up there is much bigger than the show down here.

I mentioned to Brian I was thinking of going up on Friday so I could go to Disney on a weekday, and then go to the show on Saturday and come home.

He looked at me with this, “what about me?“ face, and suggested: what about going to the Record Show on Sunday and going to Disney on Monday? Hint, hint: he is off on Sunday and Monday. But honestly, why didn’t I think of that?

We will have to take an earlier train up than usual. Since it’s the last day of the Record Show, I know from experience a lot of vendors will pack up before the official end time. So our train up tomorrow (tomorrow?! I have to pack!!) is around 9AM or so. If we have time, we will check into the room first, or if Brian wants to stay in the room rather than come to the show, that’s cool. If the train is late for some reason, we may have to go directly to the show.

Which also makes this…an official business trip and a write off. 😀

For my one fan (ETA: two more not-so-foolish mortals arrived as I typed this!) I will make one more post to complete the set up, then I really need to go do laundry and pack! (Shall we risk sneaking back the successfully snuck sip of Jack Daniels from the last trip?)

Probably not. I’m a dork.

Why did I list the same hotel twice? Well, my booking time was also too late to get a room. Kind of. When I first went online to check, I could easily get a room for Monday night, at a fairly average price, in the $90 range, which is only about $10 higher than typical with my AP discount. There was only one hotel in the entire system available for Sunday night, and it was way out of my price range. That made no sense, so I wasted some time with live chat, who told me what I already knew, and decided to book Monday at ASM and probably book Sunday Offsite but wait until tomorrow.

When I looked the next day, ASM was available, but only for a preferred room at more than $40 higher. Sports was about $15 less, but who wants to bother moving for $15?

Alas, I waited too long, and they were both gone again.

The next day, when I saw another Preferred room at All-Star music, I jumped on it. It will be our path of least resistance. I’m going to ask at check-in if they could possibly put us in the same room for two nights, even if it’s not a Preferred room, I’m sure someone else would love to get upgraded to Preferred in my place. If it works, great. If it doesn’t work, fine. We will make it work for us.

Where are we going?

Well, as I said, the Record Show on Sunday. Typically we can’t go to any parks on Sunday, but this is our first trip where we actually may take advantage of the free waterpark day! That is, if we get out of the show early enough before closing. Not sure that will happen, we’ll see!

Maybe Jiko for dinner that night? We’ve been skipping it the last few trips. Maybe someplace new? I haven’t even looked yet.

On our most recent visit, there was no festival at Epcot, so I suspect the priority Monday will be checking out the new one. Maybe we will stop at HS afterwards if Julie is at the Tune-In.

For my solo day Tuesday, I think I may bring a Dramamine and try to get on Tron, and try for that Tiana deal as well. If that goes well, who knows, maybe finally Guardians?

As the Pet Shop Boys said in the 80’s (not with so much grammatical correctness) “There’s a lot of opportunities…”

We’ll just have to surprise you!
