See.. like, when it comes to a ride revamp in this case, I could easily see some enhancements being made, like, maybe at the beginning, kinda bringing back talking about Mexico’s history (ala how Panchito did it in original The Three Caballeros film plus El Rio Del Tempo in its original opening scene) and adding little things here & there to make it better/bring the film’s original purpose to life (which ultimately compliments said pavilion and EPCOT’s mission as a whole), but ultimately I see no reason to change it drastically. Especially when they’ve already had some Coco experiences here & there in the park (like the Miguel puppet performer w the mariachi band) and the little interactive exhibits. I see no problem why there can’t be some room for both. Reason I’m against them removing The Three Caballeros entirely is because they genuinely felt like a sincere & proper attempt at bringing not just pre-existing characters into the park but something that genuinely fit with the theming and was something Walt originated. If you know your Disney history, you’d basically know Saludos Amigos & Three Caballeros was basically the start of Walt really investing into discovering and sharing different world culture with us and really collabing and spreading goodwill to other countries around the world. And it was done in a way that actually focused mostly on the ‘culture and people at hand’, while the characters simply ‘complimented’ that. (Again, think how the Park originated characters & concepts did aswell. How Dreamfinder & Figment journeyed through and discovered the possibilities of creativity through a whimsical representation of all the realms imagination worked best in, how the characterized Foods & Bonnie Appetite made learning about the food groups and their benefits genuinely fun through the presentation/music, and Buzzy & General Knowledge were able to share a venture through a boy’s brain on a normal day) So IMO, taking that out is pointless.

Now granted, the ‘only’ way I’d be okay with a Coco retheme happening is if they decided to do a Saludos Amigos-based experience for a future Brazil or combined South America pavilion. Say what you will about film IP tie-ins (for me it’s mainly today’s overusing of them where it’s not neccesary and not utilizing them properly/well (usually coming at the expense of the original themes and even putting these characters in where a pavilion already ‘has’ iconic characters created for said pavilion. So no need to put yet another group or focus there) that I have an issue with) but that’s one of the only ones I feel that’d genuinely work well for a new pavilion. Again, the focus is the real world places, people, and cultures at hand.. and I mean cmon.. it includes Donald Duck, Jose, Panchito (also Goofy as a Gaucho). How could you possibly think those characters wouldn’t do well goodwill wise or sell merch when historically they’ve proven well? If Disney is against doing that. Then they truly are lost, on top of it, have little to no respect for Walt’s legacy & history in furthering goodwill between various countries. I know that captivated me a ton & inspired me as a kid. About the real world cultures themselves, and I loved how the characters complimented and were so engaged and curious with it all. Infact, I’d say watching Saludos Amigos as a kid was thing that really blossomed that love for seeing that kind of presentation done to showcase the beauty of real world topics in a way that was engaging and fun, and that continued in my discovery of who Figment & Dreamfinder and what that original pavilion was like. Inspired & encouraged me to discover my own creative abilities & learn how concepts and ideas were initially formed to make a better world.

On top of it, the history involved w Walt and all his animators coming out to those places and studying & enjoying it all. That could ‘easily’ have a little dedicated exhibit to it all someplace. It’s like.. cmon now.

Like.. I get how they want pre-existing film characters here & there. But again, it needs to be done right, and also not come at the expense of the original park creations and concepts being there/created aswell. That’s ‘all’ we’re asking for.

I was just watching the original Imagination ride again. I was so lucky to have been able to ride it every year between 1991ish to its closure. (whenever I was old enough to ride it and understand it). That ride was so profound and so timeless It felt like a real Disney storybook adventure. What's there now reminds me of a 90s comical interpretation of such a thing. Figment has the star power to become Epcots OWN IP and stand on his own. If something like the original ride came back All those people I keep showing the video too (and subsequently wish THEY could have ridden it) would all go visit epcot to ride it. For real everyone I show the old ride to is like WHY is that gone!!?!?? It's like they have been so used to mediocre they don't even realize what they are missing!

Corporations that play it safe in THIS industry? those are the ones that can only make money by ripping people off. But a TRUE Disney corporation would NOT behave like this at all. That's why the current management is seen as traitors to the brand by the average person (at least everyone I speak to). They would do best to sift through forums like this to see how people REALLY feel instead of looking at soulless productivity charts and graphs. I could write an entire essaay on what is wrong with modern disney. Without Chat GPT!

They just don't get it.

And be that said, I hope the new Test Track is done very well and very edutainment like, if so it can prove to them that that still works. I really don't want this ride to fail and have the takeaway be (falsely) that this type of ride cannot bring in guests instead of what the real reason would be (they implemented it as wrong as the new Imagination) So here's hoping its the former and not the latter

The funniest thing about the current iteration of Journey Into Imagination is it’s practically the epitome of showing why replacing a park original IP w Film IP is a bad idea. It’s a glorified Honey, I Shrunk + other Medfield College connected sci-fi movies themed ride, with Figment shoehorned in as a nuisance. Not even a true “Journey Into Imagination with Figment” ride. Like.. REALLY?? It’s the equivalent of taking out the Haunted Mansion, replacing it with a low budget High School Musical ride, then shoehorning the ghosts back in to “alleviate the complaints” to interfere in every scene of the same bad ride no one liked til it ends with a short segment of the Grim Grinning Ghosts/Graveyard scene we remembered , from the ride we expected to see/be brought back.. but calling it ‘Haunted Mansion with Ghosts” like.. what the heck? But yeah, as you said, they should’ve left it alone and simply enhanced the original show scenes w new tech & spfx, not drastically alter it the way they did
