This is TERRIBLE!! I truly hope there is more art work or something coming. I am a Marriott guy and stay in the Westin brand a fair bit. I've stayed in a few recently that have similar design standards. But, they are much better and have much more character than this. (The Westin Indianapolis for example.) And, those are not premium locations like this one is. As some have said, I've stayed at a number of Courtyards and Fairfields that are better than this. There is zero chance I would ever book there if this is the final product. What a huge downgrade.

Getting mid 2000s travel lodge vibes. Way to make the place look like a 2 star hotel.

Even some of the budget places down on Hotel Blvd like the Drury look better than this.

Having recently stayed in one of the newly renovated King rooms at the Swan, I gotta say the picture they provided was horrible. There was art above the bed, the room felt warm and it looked clean and sleek. I'm glad they got rid of those old carpets because the room didn't have that musty smell anymore. Overall I'd say there was nothing sterile about the rooms. I've stayed at other Westins and with these newly renovated rooms, they're closer now to what's offered at other more modern properties

Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

I'm curious, then, why whoever provided the pic from the Swan room chose the photo they did. Was it from an unfinished room? The only picture they had available? College intern with no clue how to market anything?

Not defending the rooms at all, because they are bland but I saw some pictures of the 2 queen rooms and they do look a little better. There is more artwork and a bluish/creme carpet that runs underneath both beds, so its not as sterile as the King room pic on the main page.

I'm not sure but they did not do the room justice. It had these three pictures over top of the bed, and then there was a blue accent wall where the couch was with another picture. I have photos of my partner and I in the room but none of the room by itself. It was one of the rooms with a little balcony on the main building so maybe those rooms were done a little nicer?

Kind of weird seeing all these people I've seen attack Disney's new designs for being bland showing up and... attacking this design. Almost like it's not a personal hit at Disney by people who only want to attack Disney, people just genuinely don't like this super sterile design.
Higher expectations for WDW resorts? Expect a certain level of theming with their hotels, based on supposed standards, price point and previous precedent that they set.

This is genuinely worse lol

The new Poly and GF rooms look fantastic.

Contemporary looks like trash.

This looks awful

Yes, and it's not based on if Disney did them or Mariott.

I don't disagree. Though Polynesian we may need to specify, cause if I remember, the redos look really good, the DVC looks horrible (don't remember GF to be honest). But at any rate, I'd agree this may be worse. But again, I'll point out I'm labeled as a Disney hater along with a bunch others here who are equally pointing out how bad they think these are.
