Lightning Lane Premier Pass

See, the more I think about it, the more I think that's why they might want to keep them both running. They don't want to go all in on PP and risk their lines getting out of control on waits at random times and then having even more complaints and bad press, so they have this as a small bit to increase profits while they can still mainly control those lines. And while I'm not sure I buy the FOMO, I do buy the idea that people may buy MP to feel like they are getting a true upgrade (while they can't justify the PP expense). Now, eventually you could be right. But I think the more plausible idea could be PP become MP with a $150 price tag or so, and PP becomes more like unlimited (with a higher price tag), similar to what Universal does (since WDW has been kind of a follower recently).

BUT, I think they are a bit from that. If I was testing the waters for that, the first thing I would be doing is collecting the data on when people are using the PP for each ride, and seeing how many per hour you can expect. Then increase the number of passes available and recalibrate. Do it again and again til you have enough data to really estimate how your lines could be impacted if you really open it up, and how often you need to send from each line (just cause they have PP doesn't mean you need to send 75-25 from that line). THEN you consider changing the system up based on your modeling. But once you change it, you better be ready. Cause like I said, the price people are paying for vacations, if you miss the mark on your wait times (or people don't wait in line cause of a wildly inaccurate time), you will see your guest satisfaction plummet even more.
I can see that. I don't see waits getting out of control if they keep PP limited and got rid of MP. It would force most guests to use standby

Along the lines of my earlier question, I wonder how many guests they would eliminate with that system.

For example, we visited in November with a party of 10 and spent around $1600 on LLs.

Buying PP would be too expensive for us and pushing us into standby wouldn’t work. They would lose us as guests.

I'm sure they would lose some guests if they went to just PP. I'm not sure how much of an effect it would have.

I don't the answer. I'm just saying your average guest most likely find Premier Pass easier to use as it's similar to Universal and most other parks. A poster did say earlier guests staying off site are opting for Premier Pass as a lot of availability of Multi Pass is gone 3 days out.

Interesting thought - plus if saving a good amount of money from staying off property vs Disney resort prices can shift those funds towards PP and potentially have a better (or at a minimum easier) day

I agree. IMO a lot of what they are doing with this is due to attendance being flat and then needing to show profit is up each quarter
It's, unfortunately, a somewhat smart short-term approach until they can get substantial projects opened up. This, along with additional other strategies, should save them (to a degree) until they get major projects up and running.

How much can one really save staying off property? Value im paying 160 per night

Can definitely get under $100

Also just if staying longer/have larger family can get get bigger place for much cheaper. We are a family of 5 so don't fit in a value room

We stayed in an off property room, decent place (Marriott Brand) that fit up to 6, included breakfast and was $166 a night. Cheapest room that fit 5 on property for those nights was $380 and no breakfast

Do posters here think this is what Disney is going for with PP?

Fair if you need a larger room in that case and okay about the 100 per night but location? How is this hotel/motel in comparison and what about transportation to/from park? That included.?

It was right off property, closer to some of the parks then some of the onsite hotels - it had a shuttle service to the parks but limited so we did use Lyft most of the time.

Definitely not perfect but some times it can make sense to not stay on property - pluses and minuses to everything

Especially if doing more of a general Orlando vacation vs Disney specific

He's saving $200/night on the hotel plus roughly $50/day in free breakfast, and the hotel had a shuttle. I don't think the cost of transportation to/from the parks is a concern.
