Visually, the most damage I've noticed so far is at Typhoon Lagoon along Castaway Creek. So many beautiful trees and plants torn apart or forced to have been cut down. So sad to see. They're still reopening attractions as the day moves along as well as water effects(retaining wall isn't working right now for example) but it looks like Castaway Creek still needs another day.

Water is freezing cold here as well. Today They're only open to Resort Guests. That limitation will likely be lifted tomorrow I'm told.

All guests at Typhoon Lagoon are also being offered complimentary drinks and snacks today which is AMAZING!

Still without power here but some in town are reporting they're back on. The outage map was without any ETR most of the day but now shows 6:30pm so hopefully just a few more hours and my freezer saved (at least the Fridge stuff I stuck in it) 🤞🏻 Internet may not be ready when power comes up but I've got my phone and a separate/dedicated hotspot device. Cell service has seemed stable thankfully.

The flooding in my back yard as stated was a lot more this time, it was about 14in up my central air unit. Have it turned off at the breaker and hopefully the company can make it out soonish to check it out. It's only 15months old 😭 I forget when I measured the 14in (i think before 10) but about 3pm looks like it's gone down an inch or 2 already. Will probably grab a window unit this weekend for backup. Thankfully right now it's still kinda cool and when the power is back I can use the ceiling fans.
i'm very sorry to hear that...hope your family is safe...

When it turned out that Frontier Airlines surprised me by not having Tuesday flights in the Fall, I had to make this Monday, my arrival date. But I couldn't get a room at Pop, which is where the rest of my stay will be, because Columbus Day was fully booked at Pop.

Well, I was able to grab a Monday reservation at Pop yesterday. Presumably there were enough cancellations for me to do so.

When I get there, I'll have to dance with a CM to get them to 'connect' the separate reservations.

I wouldn't worry too much about that bit, it will be fine. I once had two separate reservations for AKL. One direct with Disney, and another made much later for a few extra nights through Expedia.

When I went to speak to them about it their system had already connected them automatically because they were under the same name and email address. We got to stay in the same room no problem.

Celebration

It’s interesting how 2 videos showing (essentially) the same thing can create completely different impressions… watching this 30 second tictok you’d think Celebration got slammed, I just watched a youtube video where they spend half an hour riding a golf cart around Celebration to show the damage and with an extra 29 minutes showing only minor damage, small debris, plus a minute devoted to showing the same couple big trees down (as seen in the tictok) my takeaway was that Celebration came out relatively unscathed.

Neither was dishonest, but by just highlighting the worst damage, compared to showing the overall damage, they leave completely different perceptions.

I wonder if the smaller area with big damage was the result of a tornado. I was in Vero Beach yesterday. Most of the area was just minor damage and debris from some broken branches and palm fronds. Then, I found myself going through two areas where tornadoes had gone through and it looked like a bomb was dropped. Trees with 4 foot diameter trunks snapped, metal roofs torn off and mangled in trees across the street, concrete utility poles toppled and broken, etc.

Then, a few blocks later back to minor damage. I didn't take pictures because I didn't feel the need to photograph people's misery. I remember when I had a palm tree fall onto my roof in Hurricane Irma that it would upset me when people would stop and take pictures of the damage while I was cleaning up debris.

Thankfully, even the badly damaged houses looked repairable for the most part. I did see a few destroyed manufactured homes on the west coast of lake Okeechobee. I assume the residents heeded the warnings and evacuated because I don't see how they could have survived and I haven't heard of fatalities from the area where I saw them. For future storms, I do hope that anybody in a manufactured home heeds the warnings and goes to a shelter even if they aren't in the direct path of the storm due to the tornado risk.
