News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It's not themed to the American wilderness, it's themed to the Carsland "wilderness," full of puns from a straight-to-DVD quality spinoff from the least witty franchise Pixar ever produced.

And no, a "rally race" would be an incredibly boring ride concept with or without eyes on the cars - and would be just as out of place stuck by Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, and the rest of Frontierland.
This! It is not cars in Frontierland... it is the end of any Frontierland because this is just a Cars themed area...but not one from the Cars movie we loved....completely out of place...and causing us the lose the whole back half of the park, the river and two other attractions to put in a fake mountain range designed to look like car parts... Frontierland indeed.

Be happy, you could have had this in front of CBJ, there is precedent just through the passage

I think that if this attraction wasn't tied to Cars but was still a rally race through the wilderness, it would be better received.
If it was vintage cars like model t’s it would be better received with or without a cars connection.

If it wasn’t in the middle of Frontierland and evicting the rivers and riverboat it would also be better received.

The ip is the least of the concerns

To you…. This could be an exciting attraction. I get people want to crepe all over this ride because of them losing ROA.

The facts are we know nothing about this ride to be making statements like this. Give it a rest…

I believe location had something to do with it too…. The coco building couldn’t go where cars is going.
It would be difficult to put up any building in place of the southern end of RoA. You'd have to do 'a Space Mountain' and have people enter a smaller (themed) structure and walk all the way to the main building probably put up behind Haunted Mansion.

The Cars Rally allows for the entirety of the ride to exist without trying to hide a Big Box.

There’s an entire team at Pixar that is going to be paid to ensure the attraction follows the art direction of the Cars franchise.
Exactly. We can argue about Cars in Magic Kingdom all we want. We can argue about maintaining the Rivers of America all we want. But, we also have to acknowledge that Disney (and Zsolt) do rockwork exceptionally well. Moreover, the aesthetics of the rockwork heavy lands that Disney has built in recent memory have been excellent. I have every expectation that this will look great.

The land at DCA is epic and monumental. It is completely recognizable from the film, gorgeously detailed and filled with stuff 3 attractions, multiple shops and QS locations. They are not doing anything of that scale for this...they keep underplaying the size of it...saying the Villains section will be the big area and this will be smaller... They need to either put it where the Speedway is, or just build a real deal Carsland at DHS with all the bells and whistles...People want to recognize locations from the films they love... not a specific IP in another location from another film that was not successful...or a completely made up location like SWGE or Tiana's Foods Factory and Mountain Farm Co-op... If IP is the end game, make it fully immersive in the IP world we know... Not Mulan's convoluted Summer Vacation in Singapore...
Yes, why give us the IP - but not really give us the IP?
Universal to their credit delivers there.

I am waiting for the first-ever Cinderella ride and Mini-land...set a few years after the movie, and Cinderella and the prince are living in a rockwork canyon in Egypt. Join the fun with the mice and birds as they create another fancy gown for Cinderella to wear to the Souk! Coming to EPCOT 2036...lol

I don't get it when to me Cars Land in DCA is more popular and iconic than Galaxy's Edge. Galaxy's Edge got two same lands in the domestic parks but they don't want to do the same with Cars. I get that they want to keep something unique especially to DCA but doing that with an IP franchise shouldn't be. Galaxy's Edge didn't need two lands, should of kept it WDW exclusive. It's not stopping Frozen so why with Cars. I'm actually surprised a Cars Land isn't proposed for DLP and that's in another part of the world.

I think the Carsland at DCA was massively expensive...that is why they will not repeat it. It blows SWGE out of the water with it's attention to detail, whimsy and style...
SWGE in comparison feels dead and colorless.

Sorry if this has been discussed but been out of the loop a bit. Any truth to the idea that Disney is

Coco was BY FAR the cheaper expansion.
It’s soarin 3.0. No Thanks!! If that’s what we got people would be complaining about that too.
Cars is absolutely not the cost cutting option and the more expensive of the 2. Please no more soarin variations.

That was the ride, the rumor on here was that it was a Coco themed village as a themed outdoor area. One poster (can't remember who,) said that blending the sight lines with the Villains area was pushing the cost up too high which is why they went with Cars. (No idea if that's true or not.)

Found the post I was thinking of, it was by @PREMiERdrum! (Takes a moment to reflect on the fact that my phone is perpetually lost and if you ask me the name of a person I met last week, there is no chance I will remember it. But give me a Disney rumor, and suddenly I'm recalling message board posts from three months ago! 😂)

I wonder what the plans for the River were with the coco village / beyond big thunder plan.
