DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Now if they do end up opening this part early (which would be great) then it will all make sense, but from what we know so far, it doesn't. Either way, hopefully we get some more clarity at D23.
This is what I'm assuming will happen (I have no inside info).

I'm sure that the utility work that's required would have made operation of those now closed facilities rather precarious at best. Water, Sewage, and Power kind of need to be connected all the time to meet minimum health department standards, much less keeping the theater cooled for irate customers.

Final hookup for utilities isn't needed until late in the project.

My hope is that pushing the coaster back will allow for future paths to future park expansions so this isn't a dead-end.
I agree, I honestly think now that AC and RRC will be "done" for the time being by the end of 2026 that after Monsters they'll rip out star tours, indy, and maybe echo lake and put 1 or 2 big lands in there and go out into the parking lot

Sad to see the former Muppets store leveled, but do agree it opens up that area nicely and in all honestly looks better.

Do we know what became of the giant ‘Kermit’ statues that used to flank this building?
Were they salavaged, or trashed?

They appear to have been removed prior to demo, so hopefully they were salvaged.

Maybe went to Henson studios like the one from DCA's MuppetVision? Or popping up outside RNRC? If what Brian Henson said a few weeks ago it seems like they've taken what they wanted and everything else is being tossed.

So Dinosaur is indispensable to its park? And Muppetvision isn’t? I agree.
I would imagine Dinosaur is more critical to AK than Muppets was to DHS.

AK currently has continuously operating 6 attractions (FOP, Navi, Safari, Kali Everest, and Dinosaur), 3 stage shows (Bird, Nemo, FotLK), 2 major animal trails, and 1 petting zoo that is open part of the day.

DHS currently has attractions 9 (Star Tours, RotR, MFSR, Alien, TSMM, SDD, MMRR, ToT, and RNRC), 5 stage shows (Frozen, Indy, Mermaid, BatB, Villains, Disney Jr.), 2 continuously operating shows (Vacation fun and Walt Disney Presents)

I think they starved to death.
I mean I can only speak for myself but generally we don’t need 3 meals a day (and like to avoid it on vacation). But when they restaurants we love have availability we book them. When we end up having 3 reservations (which we do sometimes) we regret it cause we end up wasting money cause we are not as hungry at the meals. So we do spend more. When we cant get that reservation and only have 1 or 2 we spend less that day (no doubt about it). Sometiems it’s cause we pack foods. Honestly I generally only need 2 meals on vacation and prefer one sit down and one quick service. We absolutely spend more money when we have 2 or 3 reservations In a day. I know we are not the only ones like this, but can’t speak to overall trends like you seem so certain on. I really don’t think you can either but that’s a different story.

Mama Melrose is a great example for our family. It is one of the few restaurants we try to reserve at Hollywood. We used to hit it at least every other trip. Last trip we didn’t eat at a sit down at Hollywood. We ended up doing snacks and 1 quick service.

So the idea that “people stage” is certainly not true, but people do spend less money when less options exist. The question only is how much less and what effect that has.

I tend to agree with some one here that the savings is not as large as some believe, but also more than others believe. I don’t believe it is the single biggest driving factor, and believe a lot of factors go into it. Some here just want to make it so simple. But there is so many times someone (not you in particular) uses an idea that while true, really only paints a partial picture of the situation because it drives the point they want to make

Now that I don’t agree with you I am sure I will hear a mouthful from a select group, and they have to be right since they repeat themselves so many times

Well the Monsters area has 2 restaurants with table seating... No reason they couldn't move Mama Melrose to the Rizzo's location and give it a bit of a monsters makeover... Do Italaian food and better pizzas, and then whatever Harryhausen's is going to be.... THe Rizzo"s location is great, just a shame about the food... Monster Melrose or Pizza Roz-O would be better.... as long as they make the food better....

Honestly I could see them keeping the PizzeRizzo sign for scenery in RnRC, and that's still installed as of now, so maybe some stuff that is still in the area is safe.

Look. I don’t really care if you believe me or not. But I’m not guessing, I’m telling you that Muppet courtyard was closed now to save on operating expenses. Thats the economics and business of it.

Disney is not losing revenue by closing those restaurants. The guests in the park are not suddenly going hungry. The same guests that would be eating at those restaurants are eating at other operating venues. Sure they have less options but they are still spending money on meals. And Disney has less venues to pay to operate.

Pizzarizzo historically wasn’t even open for dinner. Only a few hours each day for lunch. Often having the upstairs closed off to guests too. Even on its final day of operation it was not open for dinner service.

Disney has a long history of closing venues to consolidate demand and operating expenses. Notice the Tomorrowland Terrace sits empty every day in the middle of the busiest theme park in the world?

That store hasn’t been open on a regular basis since before Covid. So I guess they didn’t want that revenue for over half a decade.

The company absolutely closed muppet courtyard now for financial gain. Just like they never reopened Stage 1 after 2020, closed the Christmas shop years ago, and closed Pizzarizzo at 4pm most days.
Where did the savings come from?
