I’m betting at least two

But in all seriousness, they can’t make the parade way too long, because with two shows and the amount of space between Frontierland and Main Street USA, they can’t make the parade too long or they won’t be able to fit in two parades a night easily.

Ever see Spectro ?

With the rumor ed debut for this parade being in May, I would have to assume that we're going to find out the exact date soon, right? It's the middle of February so I would imagine we're going to information about that in the next few weeks right?

I’m thinking maybe mid or end of March for the opening date and then things getting more active in April like behind the scenes videos, floats arriving backstage, etc.

When busy it ran twice a night. With Wishes in between.
Ah, you make me teary-eyed for my 2007-08 trips! I remember quickly dashing across the parade thoroughfare to make it out of Liberty Tree Tavern to the side of the street from which we could dash from thrill ride to thrill ride during the first showing of Spectro and Wishes (having already seen Wishes on an earlier night of our trip, of course!), then relaxing to see Spectro's second run at 11pm. What larks, Pip!

I would safely assumed that maybe Starlight might have at least 20 floats, since PTN has 18 floats.
Paint the Night does not have 18 floats. Counting distinct motorized floats with their own driver, there are 12-13 floats, creating 8 units. Some of the floats have multiple parts linked together, but ultimately those are only counted as a single vehicle (such as the literal tractor-trailer, Mack):
  1. Tinkerbell (w/ Drum)
  2. Monsters Inc.
  3. Lightning McQueen
  4. Mack (cab & trailer)
  5. Little Mermaid
  6. Toy Story Slinky Dog
  7. Toy Story Aliens (added for DCA run)
  8. Belle (w/ 3 chandeliers, Rapunzel, & Cinderella)
  9. Frozen (DL) or Incredibles (DCA)
  10. Ball w/ Goofy
  11. Ball w/ Donald
  12. Ball w/ Minnie
  13. Mickey Finale
2-3 rolling puppets also followed the Tinkerbell; these puppets were originally used for the short-lived World of Color pre-show and were mounted on rolling bases for the parade, and are manually pushed along the parade route. The DCA run of the parade also added a UFO with aliens to the Toy Story unit; this was originally in the daytime Pixar Play Parade and appeared to be manually pushed from within during PPP, but motorized after its PTN overhaul.

While 12ish floats is on the longer side of Disney's modern parades, it pales in comparison to the peak of the nighttime parades which often had 30+ floats. Sure, these ones are a lot more technologically advanced, but in terms of sheer scale PTN comes up short; even in person, it leaves most people wanting more. Unfortunately, I see no reason to think that MK’s new parade wouldn’t follow along in a similar scale.
