I did the WOC dessert party a few years ago, when my ankle was recovering from surgery and sitting seemed a preferable alternative to standing for a long time. I didn't actually mind the desserts (though I definitely have a sweet tooth), and I was seated with a very nice elderly couple who were quite pleasant to chat with while waiting for the show.

However, the biggest issue for me were the actual seats. They're akin to director chairs, and I didn't think they were particularly comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. I'm not asking for a plush sofa or anything, but you'd think that if the selling point was seating it would be a bit more comfortable. You also don't really get any refills on any of the food and beverage, something that I believe does (or at least used to) happen at WDW-not that I needed more, but it would have helped it feel more worth its price.

So ultimately the dessert party served a purpose for me when I did it, but I can't really say I would recommend it to most people or that I would do it again in most circumstances.

I hear what you're saying but who hasn't stood for a long time waiting for then watching fireworks, for example, shifting your in pain feet back and forth. Or sitting on the pavement claiming your spot until the show starts. It seems almost worth the money for the chairs.

Do what feels right for you, but they are not particularly comfortable chairs, which to me is a big problem if you're paying to sit in them (not JUST that, of course, but it is a big component of why people book the party).

It is also not particularly difficult in my experience to get a good WOC viewing spot the normal way, especially if (as I suspect they will) they are running two shows and you attend the second one.

That's strange that you didn't get any refills on beverages. I know it is a limit on 2 alcohol drinks per person but we have never had any issues getting more non-alcoholic beverages.

Here are a couple pictures from recent World of Color dessert parties to give you an idea of the viewing area @JohnD

The high top tables have the director's style chairs and low top tables have folding chairs (which might be padded, it's been awhile since I picked a low top). But you can see the folding style chair in the bottom right of this picture, taken a couple weeks ago.

I haven't found either of the styles of seat super uncomfortable. Neither did my husband. We were a bit concerned about the comfort of the high top chairs because we aren't small people but it was fine.

My plate from last week, although the new offering will be a little different.

I think you convinced me to reserve the WOC dessert party. Not so the parade party. Besides, I'm working hard to pay off the Disney visa before the trip.

Why is Walt Disney – A Magical Life not getting any hype? Do they want us to lower our expectations cause it's not all that? That's the number one thing I'm excited about more than anything else offered.

I have a bit of a random question that I don't think warranted a new thread. I am considering flying out for a trip in late September and/or early October. That is obviously Halloween season. What should I expect in terms of decor? Will the 70th Anniversary decor be temporarily replaced with Fall/Halloween or will they co-exist to some degree?

For the 60th they coexisted, on Main Street it was 75% anniversary, 25% Halloween (the giant Mickey was there, the pumpkins on the shops and in the hub were out but the bunting, castle, and flower beds were still anniversary. Note they already announced Halloween Screams will play in the fall, PTN’s fate is unknown but assumed to be continuing.

Thanks. This would only be my second DL trip and I have never gotten to see the park in its "pure" form. Last time I was there, was Pixar Fest in 2018.

I am more interested in the 70th Anniversary stuff, but my wife will probably be more amped for Halloween so this seems like a good compromise.

Will Halloween Screams likely result in Wondrous Journeys being put on hiatus? I hope WOC still runs. It broke before our last trip.

Yes Wonderous Journeys will be shelved, whenever “HaloweennTime” begins (with the exemption of one weekend in Nov, maybe) it will not occur until 2026. WOC should still be running.

I hope its not as disappointing as WDW's 50th. Sure there will be excessive overpriced merchandise and long poorly curated lines to get anywhere near it with every reseller in front of you, but what else other than another operations day ?
Well, there is a day and night difference between 2021 and 2025. While I agree with you about the disappointing part, I'm sure there is a big factor other than budget why the 50th was not up to par.

Covid and Chapek ruined WDW 50th by and large.

Any large budget allocated towards the celebration was substantially cut.

We know some refurbs like Big Thunder were most likely suppose to happen until they scrapped it.

Anyone know what time (Eastern) the WOC dessert party reservations open? I thought it would be 9am. Nothing yet.
