You'd be surprised. There's very little reason to go to Tallahassee from Orlando. So much so that multiple times over the past several decades they've tried to move the state capitol to Orlando and barely failed...
True. Tallahassee doesn't have year round guests. We get an influx every year with the start of Session and the new school year for FSU, FAMU, and TSC. Of course, we can't wait until their departure also to lessen the drain on traffic, etc. (Love the college students. Legislators, staff, and lobbyists not so much. ;)). Oh, and several weekends for home football games.

I've lived in Tallahassee for 54 years. Bought a townhouse in Winter Garden 3 years ago, so I commute between the two.

The Legislature complains every few years about the lack of direct flights to Tally during Session. And that attempt to move the state capital to Orlando is why Tally now has a Springtime Festival, with a parade.

I can remember when 2-3 major airlines serviced the City at the same time - Eastern, National, Southern, USAir, etc. And when the airport consisted of a few gates with a set of stairs that were rolled up to the aircraft and baggage pickup consisted of the baggage truck depositing your suitcases on the sidewalk outside the entrance. The old terminal went through several painful modifications before the new terminal was built.

I know many who do because far less expensive than out of Tally. But if I really have to spell out my business, I'm spending Thanksgiving with family in Jax. The cruise is December 1-12 out of Miami. Makes sense to fly round trip out of Jacksonville anyway.

And I have really perished the crazy thought of driving a rental car to WDW from Miami to get the magnets and dropping off the rental in Jax to retrieve my car only to backtrack to Tally.

It's amazing how much you save on a ticket to anywhere by driving to Jax, Panama City or Atlanta (if flying Delta). That Tally leg of the flights adds hundred to a ticket...for a 45 minute flight.

It's cheaper for me to drive to Atlanta, spend the night at a hotel at the airport, them fly out of Hartsfield than it is to fly from TLH to ATL. Crazy.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family. 🤞🏻 we win one of the last 2 games so we can go bowling.

I once suggest that the Session rotate between the major cities - Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jax. Can you imagine the traffic on I-4 with the legislators, their staff and the thousands of lobbyists? 🤣

Orlando, beware what you ask for, you just might get it. (Probably not. But if we think it's bad in Tally, yeah, I can imagine the traffic of residents, UCF students, Seaworld guests, Uni guests, WDW guests, I-4 thru-traffic, legislators, staff, and lobbyists.)

That would be the first....and last...session in Orlando. 😉

Never underestimate the power of free stuff. I once saw a near riot at Grand Floridian when they were handing out samples of gingerbread shingles. You would think they were giving away solid gold bars.
I’d spend good money for a lightning lane to see that.

Disney, are you listening?

Absolutely! The stink of this is, they are old magnets that they couldn't give away the last 3 times they gave out AP magnets. Maybe they know something we don't... :cautious:
