If I’m not mistaken, it looks like they may be repainting the mountain? It’s beginning to be covered in scaffolding.

One thing that has always bothered me, is that dingy speaker that’s installed right in the middle of the front facing side. Is it really necessary to keep in that location?

Just got off, no blue tunnel still, but new galaxy/starfield projections.

And the red rock sits alone in darkness.

Wasn’t it only on for a week or so? If ever?
I was there the month it reopened and never saw it and went on Micechat. Everyone on there at the time was talking about how you can see the asteroid off to the side but it wasn't lit up. It works in Hong Kongs version though.

Basically Disneyland's Space Mountain refurbishment wasnt supposed to be done until fall 2005 but management wanted it open for the 50th in summer so things like the asteroid and the "Rock It Mountain" nighttime overlay never were finished. When you look at the space mountain sign from a certain angle in daylight you can just barely see the neon pattern that spells out "Rock It Mountain".

I don't much care about the asteroid, but it's truly pathetic that they couldn't replace some lights in three weeks.

Or, you know, after operating hours. They're lights. It can't possibly be as difficult as their inaction makes it seem.
That's based on the sole speculation that all they are doing is changing lightbulbs. There's a lot of other speculation going around that they might be overhauling the system there, possibly adding new effects. They've been struggling to keep all the lights lit in that tunnel over the past several years and I have a feeling it's because the fixtures are getting old.

But even at the very least, if they were just changing out all of the incandescent fixtures with LED that could easily be a more than 3 week job. Would be cool if they did multicolor LED gradient strips capable of changing colors.

If all they end up doing is just changing bulbs then we can truly say it's pathetic, but to be dark for multiple weeks seems to lead more toward some type of overhaul. Guess we'll see when it is finished.

The projections are awesome. They're simple but really go a long way toward making this 1970s ride feel more technologically sophisticated/impressive. They also, surprisingly, don't brighten up the room too much (if at all), unlike (IMO) the Hyperspace Mountain effects.

That said, the blue light tunnel and main lift hill lights/swirling projections were completely off during my ride, which was a strange experience.

New projections for Space Mountain Disneyland, which means in ten years, WDW will get a bootlegged levle bad transfer of the media put on a reel to reel for Florida's dome.

BREAKING NEWS: The Hatbox Ghost is coming to WDW's Space Mountain due to guest demand!

He will be placed upside down adjacent to the main lift hill, so that he can be viewed by guests from the Peoplemover as well as those on both tracks!
