Looking at these photos, I can't quite understand why they didn't just commit a little more cash and flesh it out into a new full-time offering. It looks like the bones are in place. With some seats and some more theming I can't imagine why this wouldn't work on a permanent basis. Would take more than that to be mind-bendingly good, but I don't think it would take much more to be, like, competent and successful.

But then, I'm somebody who always found it odd that the fantastic Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar made its way to Disney Springs instead of behind the paywall at DHS. That seems like it would have been the more logical choice, but what do I know?

You can probably come up with a simple theory on why they didn’t want to commit permanently?

As far as “why not spend more?”
…that one appears to be rhetorical in bobs big, blue ocean

Thanks, so no seating.
Yeah…that’s a park wide thing I’ll never get.

They keep adding bars/stands…I get that…but have determined chairs and tables to be “taboo”

The brown derby bar is my favorite…15 small top tables…1/3 full because of lack of waiters…and 15 people in line on the other side by the bar with someone only letting one person go to the bar at a time…which of course dumps them back into the pathways cause they’re not allowed to sit and sip

Brilliant

My theory is that 1) available seats will be taken up by people just needing a break with no intention of buying anything (especially if in the shade), and 2) once seated, lazy inertia sets in and they don’t go anywhere, but anything, etc

Probably…

But they learned in Disneyland in 1955-56 that you can’t restrict seating in hopes of selling tickets and product. It was proven self defeating.

So they corrected it.

Remember 5 ish years ago when tweedle dee and tweedle Bob started ripping benches out to try and shunt people into revenue streams?

Yeah…that dumb

This looks like Disney put in zero effort. Popup bars in NYC look better themed than this. If a Indy fan club in Iowa was trying to hold a comic con-type event in the lobby of a Holiday Inn, this is what I would expect it to look like.

My understanding is this was done with very little notice and no promotion - even CMs that work in DHS didn't know this was happening

I just see it as a purely extra thing, some photo ops, a couple of drinks, using up a space that was just storage prior.

I'd believe it. If you gave me $5,000, two carpenters and 48 hours notice, I could have created something better. It's like they didn't try.

I don't know why they don't do a little (permanent) recreation of the bar in the first Indy movie that was in the mountains (Nepal or tibet?), could stick it right outside Everest in DAK

Maybe if this does well they will do something more permanent. Certainly a themed bar one would thing would be of interest .... Maybe this is a test they can use the data to justify more investment

Why do you think that is? And the set end date?

For chrissakes, Bob…just fire her. Do your alledged job you think only you can do.
