I'd imagine this is temporary until they can prioritize bringing this back up, and all that depreciation stuff too.
Changing occupancy isn’t really something you’re going to do on a temporary basis. When people talk about things being grandfathered that’s the way to wipe that out.

I don’t really see a problem. It wasn’t ideally positioned to be incorporated into the park in any way, and hopefully it frees up some of the office space elsewhere that needs to be demolished at the same park. Biggest concern is for the Imagineers working inside a windowless prison frigate. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A windowless, soulless monument to hubris.

Yet another missed opportunity here…
They shoulda’ turned this windowless monolith into a maximum security prison for Disney Villains…can you imagine how much fun Guests could have had having “visitation” with their faves…!!!!! :hilarious:

How ironic that the Lake Nona project would have been cheaper, state of the art, and built to accommodate thousands of employees. Instead they are now stuck using a windowless hotel as office space. Hindsight is 20/20.
The building isn’t windowless. Every guest room had a window. They were just obscured from the inside.

I don't see how they can turn it into usable office space without basically gutting the interior, so I highly doubt we will ever see the return of anything utilizing the sets etc. of what was once the Starcruiser.
I think this is the most interesting thing to take away from this. They’re basically just saying we’re throwing away a billion dollars

Still trying to wrap my head around why they couldn't:
1. Cut a chunk off the outrageous price tag (which was THE main deterrent for most, not the experience or concept)
2. Cut some of the actors/offerings to offset the lower pricing
3. Still run the concept and make a decent profit, just not what they originally planned with the extremely high prices.

Disney could still settle for silver or bronze with this idea (imo), but instead they're choosing to forfeit altogether.

Can't imagine actually working in the Starcruiser constantly is stimulating for the brain when you're an imagineer.

I never posted this here before because I didn’t wanna’ offend anyone, but I don’t think it really matters anymore, at this point.
From the very beginning, I just always thought of this thing as the “Star Wars: Galactic Losercruiser”….. :cautious:

There are window openings, they are just covered up. It’s an easy retrofit.

The decision to completely abandon the project is extremely confusing to me also, this could have been a very easy transition into a really cool character dining experience.

$65+ a person, 100 people per experience, 5 experiences a day for an hour and a half = 💰 . Seems like this could have been an easy $25k-50k a day in profit.

I’d pay $75 in a heartbeat to go wander around the public areas of the ship for half an hour and then have a fun dining experience, they could probably charge $100 a person and still pull it off. Instead it’s going to be office space. Wasted opportunity.

Seriously imagining it though- I would pay $300-400 per person ($500 if new) for a 3.5-hour experience if it included:

- A shuttle flight from GE to GS (Disney gets more money because a park ticket is required to experience it!)
- 20 Min exploring the Starcruiser
- A reserved activity from a list of activities available on ship (lightsaber training, the bridge, bar with drinks)

- 1-1.25 hour dinner in the Crown of Corellia/exploring when done

- 20 Min exploring the Starcruiser
- Mini simulator experience where all rooms are reworked into Star-Tours like mini ships where a group pilots the room through the galaxy- Like Millenium Falcon but extended to a full 20 min experience with sequences on self piloting the ship, choosing planets, floating in the galaxy and being able to unbuckle seatbelts and walk around ship with multiple windows, only light movement
- Shuttle flight from GS to GE
- FP for RoTR and MF:SR upon arrival (or used before experience)
- Cheap complementary merch

Never going to happen lmao but once you consider that multiple groups of people can be boarded at different intervals (spaced out above in chunks), Disney can easily get a ton of money even if the price is as low as $200. It's the same price of a lightsaber which people still buy but now you still get free merch, a full dinner, FPs, and the experiences...
