Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Honestly this isn't unusual to have many or even all rides on the west side being walk on (especially in January) after night time entertainment. I remember one visit where I just rode BTMRR like 10 times in a row during the last couple hours (only getting off and running around to get back on) of the day.
I haven't seen the parks this dead at night in a long time. Maybe its because they used to close at 10 or 11 in Winter and now they are going till Midnight. Not sure. I enjoyed 5-15 minute lines at the end of day, but rarely have I walked through an entire queue without seeing any other people. Until my two trips this January.

Agreed - I’ve seen it like this in summer even. I remember walking back from Mansion one time and the only other human I saw was a security guard. I also remember riding pirates completely alone…. No other guests to be seen…. Just me and the skeletons! Ha.

Now over in fantasyland you’ll always see at least 20 minutes at pan up until closing.

My experience as I mentioned is that for the most part the west side is always dead after F! and fireworks (especially if its a weeknight where neither happen). Even in some cases I've seen the east side dead too. Its how I can get in so many rides in the last couple hours.

So like I said I don't consider it unusual.

Yep, my experience with riding BTMRR over and over at the end of the night was actually during a May trip. So agreed it can happen anytime of the year, just more so in January after the holidays I would think.

West side after the second showing of Fantasmic is peak Disneyland, especially this time of year. So quiet and cozy.

I know people love Disneyland at night but for me peak Disneyland is anywhere between 65- 72 degrees and sunny. You just walked into an empty-ish Town Square or you are passing through NOS along the ROA. The jazz music is playing. It’s late morning and it’s not too crowded yet.

Every time I've been there, they haven't even been doing Fantasmic. Fireworks, sure, but Fantasmic seems to never be running whenever I'm in the parks.
Just luck of the draw then. But it still the same, basically after 9-10p the west side empties out whether nighttime entertainment is going that day or not. Its only the hardcore people that stay to the end of the night as most families have left for the day by that point.

FINALLY made it on Tiana. I made it onto TDL Splash about four months ago.

I’m happy. I preferred the first half to Splash. Did not really miss the tension in the drop. The finale is technically impressive but I agree that it’s a downgrade from Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. But I’d gladly ride it again and my party was glad to ride it despite the water hitting pretty hard in the cold night.

That hour after is really the peak. I always do PotC immediately after F! When I get off the area is empty. At some point I will do HM, always, but the rest of the time I sprinkle in Indy, BTMRR, Sweeper Train, iasw holiday, Matterhorn, Alice or PPF. It’s why I’m so frustrated at them closing ROTR and TBA early because they would be on this list. 3 rides (including PotC) are the minimum, 4 is typical, and really good nights and luck get me 5 rides in that time.

Finally rode it for the first time this afternoon. It was posted at 60 minutes but we actually waited 75 minutes.

I got the front seat. I was glad that I wore a poncho and rain pants because some parts were wetter than diving into a pool. Strangely, my shoes stayed completely dry.

As for the makeover, if I hadn't been reading along here I would never have guessed the theme. Honestly, we were laughing so hard at getting drenched that we only noticed bits of scenery and none of the story. The only thing that stood out to me was the party Tiana. The way she was standing so still while singing made me think of a hostage situation.

So my overall rating was 10/10 for hilarity and oh yeah there was some music and such.

It's Disney's fault. The original queue looked like this:

It had a guard rail in front of the rocks. During the changeover they did this:

Most likely an effort to generate additional space to put that planter to the right.

Talking to myself here, I met up with a friend who had a pass for several years before the pandemic. She and her husband went for the first time since then a few weeks ago.

They were also so distracted by getting soaked that they had no idea of the plotline. She guessed that we were gathering food and missed the whole music/shrinking/growing schtick.

I would bet that the overwhelming majority are like us. They may ride it because they heard that it's changed but it doesn't make a difference in their enjoyment either way. I think it will continue with wait times similar to Splash. And sell more merch.

DL’s pace doesn’t help. I didn’t realize Splash had a story until I rode the MK version as an adult.
